  1. Sure there is. Time and time again people boldly claim that RMC can't make (insert coaster here) into a great ride. So far they've been wrong 100% of the time. I see where coasterfreak101 is coming from by saying that he'd rather roll the dice on a new ride (even though we disagree) but even he's not claiming that whatever RMC came up with wouldn't be great (even if it's not great compared to other RMC's it would still be great). So yes, when so many people have made the same claim with great authority over and over again and been wrong every single time then it's totally understandable to lose patience with such a ridiculous complaint with no reasoning behind it. You're seriously kidding me if you're comparing Maverick to Hurler's layout. I believe he's referring to what RMC could do with Hurler and not Hurler in it's current form. He brings up an excellent point.
  2. Once again... RMC has proven enthusiasts wrong time and time again with this same complaint. Do you people ever learn?
  3. Agreed but based on what they've done recently the replacement would likely be something like a GCI or B&M. Could they go outside the box and get a custom RMC or a Blitz coaster like Maverick? Of course. But I'd rather take the middle of the road RMC that would be amazing rather than an empty plot of land and a gamble as to what Cedar Fair would do with it given the direction they've been headed lately (with Fury being the exception but the park already has a giga).
  4. You have to admit that even if that is what ends up happening, an "uninspired" RMC like Goliath or Twisted Colossus even if it's slightly smaller would probably be either the second or third best coaster in the park depending on who you talk to after I305 and maybe Volcano.
  5. I guess I sort of get the 80 foot tower (actually I haven't seen many complaints about that one). It's the 131 foot (Reeses) tower that's amazingly pointless to me. There's no need to debate it though, let's just wait and see how long the queue for each tower is once the ride's been open for a little while. And as far as the joke about the sales guy, I was going for a laugh. If you told me that's how it happened I wouldn't be shocked but of course we don't know how any of this actually went down.
  6. Grizzly is fine. It just needs a real entrance. Totally new, no question. I don't even care what the ride is, Hurler's layout doesn't lend itself to a conversion at all. Time after time enthusiasts declare with great authority that a layout doesn't lend itself to an RMC conversion (does Colossus ring a bell? What about Twisted Twins?) and time after time they're wrong. I'll take the RMC conversion. I see what you're saying but at this point I'm convinced that RMC can make anything amazing.
  7. It's a weekend in the middle of the god damn summer with perfect weather predicted and you're disappointed at this breaking development that we think Cedar Point will be busy? What did you expect?
  8. I was about to say this, but then I remembered it was the Flitzer at Jenkinson's Boardwalk because we're whores.
  9. ^ So now the new addition has fallen below both the nearby road construction project and the new Chick Fil A on the excitement scale.
  10. I never knew this was a thing but it's incredibly exciting.
  11. Rougarou is weak in the front but pretty solid in the back row. I feel the same way about Dominator which in the last row has the best first drop I've experienced on a floorless. I know I'm in the minority with Rougarou though.
  12. This is why I like the flume. It's beautiful back there. I hope they never touch that area around the antique cars, Grizzly and water rides. I know it's probably good expansion space for a coaster but that area really sets Kings Dominion apart and stands in stark contrast to their terrible, shade-less, concrete hell hole competitor in Maryland.
  13. Kraken is fun but I think it's a little overrated. It rides just like every other floorless to me. They all kind of blend together and the only two that stand out at all for me are Dominator and Rougarou.
  14. I have a gold pass and it gets me in to Carowinds and SCarowinds on the same day so I would think you will be ok with the platinum. Perfect, thanks. As far as the fast lane plus, I'm assuming that will work all day as well? I know it did last year at KI. I'm not sure but even if it doesn't you can just buy it at night because there will be approximately 11 people in the park during the day.
  15. The only way Reeses tower will ever even fill the ride vehicle is because people see the line for the Hershey's tower (the only tower anyone actually wants to ride) and they decide to go to the Reeses tower that'll probably be a walk on because it shouldn't exist even though they would have much rather ridden the Hershey's tower. The demographic of people who are afraid of a 189 foot tower but are totally cool with a 131 foot tower most likely does not exist and I applaud the sales team at S&S for convincing them that buying it was a good idea.
  16. This sounds too much like the SFNE thread. Mean Streak is enjoyable in the front seat, but that's the only enjoyable seat. I'm excited for what's coming. Fingers are crossed it's a RMC since Mean Streak looks similar to Texas Giant and the New Texas Giant is critcally acclaimed. What are you talking about? I'm happy about the upgrade, you don't need to sell me on it but I also have realistic expectations. I'm not bashing the park. I'm bashing coaster enthusiasts (which is a favorite hobby of mine). The ride will absolutely be a home run if you don't go in with sky high expectations.
  17. Nobody is going to ride the Reeses tower unless the height requirements are different which wouldn't really make sense. Anyway I'd rather have a Condor than an S&S tower. They're much better rides. I understand it but it's a shame. This addition sort of makes sense but obviously I personally have no interest. The competition (Dorney, Knoebels and Great Adventure) are all utterly destroying them in the drop tower department and it's not even close but to average day guests that won't matter.
  18. Yup. And it's located right next to Maverick, an Intamin powerhouse, world-beating coaster so people will probably ride them back-to back which will push the expectations even higher.
  19. Fear not, when the ride opens this thread will be littered with bull*** about which trains are vibrating, the end of the ride running slow on a 50 degree rainy morning in May (shocking I know) and if it ever breaks down for more than a few hours at a time we'll all hear about how they should have bought a B&M. RMC Mean Streak has been an enthusiast wet dream for years and now that it's happening the expectations will be so unreasonably high that I'm expecting record levels of bitching.
  20. Yes... Kumba: Back row, right seat (closest to the exit platform)... seriously Montu: Back row Watch the Cheetah Run presentation Have fun! BGT is an amazing park.
