PTR: The New England Jaunt 2016
coasterbill replied to Jcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wooden Warrior along with the new waterpark, new front gate / entrance building and other general improvements have really turned Quassy from a forgettable and almost run down place into a tremendous family park. I'm glad you enjoyed it, for what it is I'm a huge Quassy fan. -
To each his own I guess. Admittedly I might be overly critical of the source and just entirely out of patience (and based on the opinion of the title fairy I'm not alone).

In regards to theming I entirely disagree, and in regards to lighting packages this is to be expected. Carnival rides almost always have better lighting packages than theme park rides because the lighting packages serve as advertising for the carnival. I think Cedar Point has really upgraded their lighting lately, putting LED lights on the ferris wheel was a huge improvement, they upgraded the lights on Millennium, Raptor and Power Tower too while adding rides that look excellent at night like Windseeker, Valravn and Gatekeeper. Compared to most American corporate parks, Cedar Point looks outstanding at night.

This is accurate. Cedar Point has done this for years. It's a nice contrast to Six Flags where they cut lines off before park close depending on wait time. -
Underrated Parks

Morey's Piers. It's absolutely the most underrated park I've ever been to. The rides exceeded expectations (the flume, "IT" and Great White especially) but for a boardwalk park the focus on theming and aesthetics is what really blew me away. -

Top Thrill Dragster is officially open (as of about 45 minutes ago). Apparently they've been working on it constantly, including working through the last 2 nights. Hats off to the Cedar Point maintenance team. Wow! -

If you're not chasing credits then that park isn't worth a second of your time. -
You people have no taste. Begone, heathens.

The expansion area is almost definitely the old Go Kart location since they just cleared all of that land and it's directly adjacent to Soak City. -
I think it's important to keep in mind that even though this was done in house, the manufacturers of the slide know a hell of a lot more about the physics of water slides than anyone in this thread does. Instead of questioning their knowledge of physics, or the way they designed the slide, or how we would have designed it better why don't we just wait for the investigation to come out? If we had some engineers from Proslide or Whitewater in here then maybe it would be worth listening to their Monday morning quarterbacking about what went wrong (not that they would comment anyway), but the fact is nobody knows what happened, and nobody here knows how to design a water slide. Some of the posts in this thread have been well thought out, but the posts that are suggesting solutions to specific problems with the design or making assumptions about the physics that were used in designing it when none of us know dick about designing water slides seem ridiculous to me.
