  1. They never do that so I assume it's a mechanical issue. If so, having one train running is better than having no trains running. Hopefully they get it fixed soon though. Since they're a pay-per-ride park it's in their best interests to have the highest capacity possible. I'm sure they're not thrilled about this either.
  2. I might actually give a sh*t about Soak City is they bulldoze it and put some more coasters there, keeping only the swim up bar intact.
  3. What do I recommend? Knoebels. I recommend Knoebels. But you can't go wrong with either of these parks either. Since you like airtime and dark rides I might be leaning a little towards Williamsburg just because Apollo in the back row is an absolute airtime machine and unlike Skyrush there's no "love it or hate it" phenomenon. Sure Skyrush has more intense airtime, but everyone likes Apollo and it's very re-rideable. Plus they'll have a brand new GCI next year that's sure to deliver sone nice air. Neither park is strong in the dark ride department but Escape from Pompeii is awesome so I'll give them the edge over that stupid ass Reeses Extreme Cup Challenge thing even though it's not really a dark ride. HOWEVER since you're looking for a park with great dark rides and coasters with killer airtime I would like to once again suggest Knoebels. Home of the best "classic style" haunted mansion in the world, another awesome dark ride / coaster and Phoenix which delivers ungodly amounts of airtime. Plus if you really want to fly they have a drop tower that actively tries to kill you.
  4. Wow, that's quite the piece of sh*t Ferris Wheel you've got there...
  5. It sounds like a Soak City expansion is pretty much confirmed. It should be another busy offseason at Cedar Point.
  6. Believe me I exercised a lot of self restraint with my post. As soon as I saw this thread I had a tsunami of ideas racing through my head, but those ideas were quickly derailed and came crashing to the ground thanks to political correctness.
  7. I haven't heard this rumor but Splashwater Falls sucks and I'd be thrilled to see it die. Removing a log flume for that piece of crap was a huge downgrade. I'm sure it saved them a ton on operational costs but the ride has always seemed to be tremendously unpopular. The flume (obviously) was always busy. Who said it was dying? Nothing dies at Six Flags any more (except maybe the occasional guest LOL). Now if only someone was getting a water park expansion.... And the log flume it replaced was crapola TBH. Most of that end of the park could go back to being parking spaces including the floorless I never remember exists because of the amnesia machine next door, and it would be an improvement to me. You're 100% right, that was the worst flume I've ever ridden. The beginning of the ride consisted of a bunch of turns through an overgrown stagnant pond with the theming consisting of a tent and a deer decoy from a hunting shop. It only had one drop, but the ride was still infinitely better and more popular than Splashwater falls. It's an interesting development that the one at Six Flags America has survey markers all around it too. I think it's very possible that Six Flags is scrapping them both. I'm honestly kind of surprised by that news if it's true but I won't complain because they're awful rides.
  8. Well you can probably figure out which one I want based on the avatar. Please don't get Bumper Cars. The crappy flyers shouldn't even be allowed in the same state as Knoebels. I can't imagine the complete abomination modern Bumper cars would be.
  9. No. I would think they would install a new cable which they already did because it was already in stock, then check everything over and re-open the ride knowing full well that sometimes rocket coaster cables snap. It's happened on Kingda Ka, , Storm Runner, and Top Thrill Dragster before and it's probably going to happen again. It's really not the end of the world.
  10. Welcome to TPR! Check Ebay for "Semi Used Top Thrill Dragster Cable", should get some great results today. Or just go stand next to Blue Streak at Conneaut and wait for some sh*t to fly off of it. It won't take long.
  11. How did I miss this? What the hell does a swing ride occasionally stopping for a few minutes and providing guests with a nice view / breeze in the process have to do with someone getting decapitated on a water slide? The two things aren't at all comparable and have nothing to do with each-other.
  12. Welcome! I have a few tips on where / how to ride certain coasters and a few tips on when to ride them. As far as actual riding tips, this is going to drive everyone here to drink but luckily they only have to listen to me say it for another few weeks. Mean Streak can beat the crap out of you depending on where you ride it. Ride it in the very front row, lean forward with your back off the seat back and you'll have a glass smooth ride. On Magnum, the lap bars cause thigh pain for a lot of people. Tighten the seatbelts as much as possible to avoid this. Ride Blue Streak and Gemeni in non-wheel seats. So the middle row of any car (there are 3 rows per car). Ride Millennium Force in the front at night. Dragster is always a great front seat ride but you're short on time so you might not be able to wait for it. You have Kingda Ka close to home anyway. Another tip: DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT ride Raptor, Gatekeeper, Blue Streak, Valravn or Maxair in the morning. You can ride Gatekeeper during Early Entry but it's a waste of Early Entry. All of those rides have massive lines in the morning but by mid afternoon they're much more manageable. Also, Sky Ride's line moves insanely fast, so don't let a full queue scare you if you want to ride it. It's a great way to get off your feet in such a huge park and offers excellent views. Have fun! With those tips all the coasters should be very enjoyable (well... except Corkscrew. Corkscrew sucks).
  13. Agreed. I was very surprised by the one at Great Adventure. I had low expectations going in because I hate X2 and Green Lantern First Flight but I love Joker. It rides so much smoother than an Arrow 4th Dimension or an Intamin Zac Spin.
  14. Top Thrill Dragster will re-open tomorrow. I love Cedar Point. PS: They're saying it won't open today but they've been known to say that and then surprise everyone. They did the same thing a few weeks ago and opened the ride 15 minutes before park close. There may be a glimmer of hope for anyone there today but the official word is that it won't open.
  15. I can promise you without a doubt that the parks don't care about this at all and neither does anyone else except a few random enthusiasts. Well, if by "unique" you mean "especially bad," I agree. I don't even know where to begin with this post so I'll just slowly back away and hope nobody noticed I was here.
  16. Honestly, Cedar Point will probably have this fixed much faster than anyone expects them to. They have an incredibly dedicated maintenance team and since they replace the cable multiple times a year they might already have one and already be in the process of installing it. I'm no expert and who knows what else was damaged but you might get lucky on this one. This is the park that replaced Gatekeeper's snapped lift chain in less than 3 days on 2 occasions and fixed Iron Dragon's chain last year in less than a week. At a Six Flags park that would be at least 6 months of downtime (See Goliath at Magic Mountain). Now I understand this is entirely different than replacing a lift chain, but the point is that you can't ask for a much better maintenance team and they usually exceed expectations when it comes to getting rides re-opened.
  17. Because if there's one thing Six Flags New England hates it's putting 2 rides that are essentially the same and have the same exact layout really close to each-other...
  18. I'm not buying into any of this. I think they're just trying to stir up some excitement for an announcement that the chief operating officer already announced in February and that's probably the extent of it.
  19. I can promise you without a doubt that the parks don't care about this at all and neither does anyone else except a few random enthusiasts.

  21. I wouldn't put too much into that until the results of the investigation become public. I would think if this were the case the slide wouldn't have remained in operation. That's always one of the first things to come out from first hand reports with theme park accidents and it's rarely ever accurate. Could it be this time? Maybe, and we'll find out. But I'm skeptical on that one.
  22. They cleared the queue for a projected one hour delay? I'm sorry... I have Kingda Ka in my home park and I find this adorable
