  1. I had already seen enough changes at Worlds of Fun late last season to know the work they were doing was above and beyond anything usual. As I mentioned before, they started this makeover during last season, so it was clear this was a big project. This year is Worlds of Fun's 50th anniversary, so I imagine that played a part in the decision to put more theming and details back into Worlds of Fun. And after going to the park regularly (and that is an understatement) since 1979, I can tell you the work they have done (and is still in progress) is making Worlds of Fun look the best it has since probably the 1980's. A significant amount of work has been done in painting most of the park's buildings and the majority of them have new color schemes. They have also been adding additional details to structures with painted patterns and designs, painted signage on some structures (on sides of buildings and in addition to main signs), and some architectural embellishments as well. And signage is a huge part of the makeover with many shops, rides and even restrooms getting all new signage. Some signs haven't been put up yet, so it would make sense those will be new as well. You mentioned "a few painted railings" in your comment. WOF did one better and has painted more fencing in the park than has ever been painted. In fact, most of the wooden fences in the park were never painted, but they are now. And thank heavens, the Coasters diner in Africa which never should have been, is now getting a bit of a makeover to be the Sand Dune Diner. They even added palms to the landscaping this past week and near Mamba. On top of all that, the new Zambezi Zinger will hopefully be opening sooner than later. But at least for me, the work they have done to the park is so nice it's like seeing Worlds of Fun more like it was back in its glory days. I don't have many pictures of the new looks around the park, etc. but I will share a few and try to get more as they wrap up the work.

  2. I don't know if I'd call it worthless when it gives you an opportunity to ride the brand new, low-capacity, coaster without the entire park full of people.

  3. Better yet head to Berardis for an amazing breakfast. They are probably 10-15 minutes from the park but totally worth the drive. They also open at 7am so you could easily hit it before a day at the park. Check out their food here: http://www.sanduskyberardis.com/ They USED to provide the french fries at the park until Cedar Point decided to make their own. I usually order them with my omelet instead of breakfast potatoes.

  7. It shouldn't come as much surprise. Disney's attorneys are quite possibly the sharpest legal minds in the English-speaking world, whereas DeSantis and his cronies are petulant children who think if they repeat a lie enough it'll become true. Sadly, the true victims in this are the remaining sane Florida residents who will foot the bill for the DeSantis administration to unsuccessfully defend this lawsuit (and now to fund their own against Disney, apparently) through their tax dollars.

  8. I'm kind of obsessed with this one aspect of the Disney v DeSantis lawsuit... Disney never expressed concern over 1st Amendment protection, so DeSantis and his collaborators never thought to censor themselves. Normally in this kind of case, the Plaintiff would have the difficult task of proving to the court what the motive behind the Governor's actions was. And it would be easy for the Governor to say that it was purely financial and administrative. But because Disney stayed quiet, the prosecution now has dozens of pieces of evidence of defendants very explicitly saying: "the government of Florida is retaliating against The Walt Disney Company for engaging in political speech."

  9. I know there are some people that count flume credits the same as most count coasters. There are even flat ride credit counters.

  10. Are people counting log flume credits now?

  11. The bridges are temporary. Usually, both sides are only open on really busy days, plus there has to be enough staff to do it. When only one side is open they usually use the right (as you descend the stairs to get on) because of ADA access BUT that side is currently down for a mechanical issue; hence the bridges for ADA access to the left side. Take advantage of the left being open when you are at the park, it's a lot harder to get rides on that side, lol.

  12. We had planned to go out to the park this weekend and check out the night time event but the weather forecast was bad, and next weekend is the busiest public holiday weekend for theme parks so we ended up visiting the park last Sunday, the last weekend of 7PM closings. I wasn't going to take too many photos but my Iphone 7 after 7 years of bumpy roller-coasters died, so decided to test out my new Iphone 14. 1st anniversary banners and theming was all around the park. An opening ceremony was added to hype the crowds, with dancing, lego characters and one lucky child getting to open the park and get a certificate for doing it. My son tried his best to get noticed but with the amount of children there, I think he has more chance of winning the lottery lol. A new stage has been added this year near the train and fire station to boost the entertainment offerings. Was surprised to see the Driving School gift shop had been ripped out, it's now just a big building hosting the license print out area. The water effects on the 4D film had been turned off. We checked out the Mythica film for a change and were completely lost. The police movie seemed to utilize the 3D much better and held the children's attention but during Mythica a lot of kids were getting bored in their seats. There were a lot more meet and greets than last year, and were well marked and advertised in time on the app. We got in maybe 6 or 7 meet ups in one day which left my son a very happy customer. Sadly the same couldn't be said for the buffet. There were no times posted for any restaurants on what their operating hours were. Maybe we've just got too spoilt on Asian park operations but we walked in just after 4PM (there was no barrier on the door), 3 hours before closing, thinking there'd be a dinner buffet we could eat before the Ninjago live next door to find an empty diner, half the lights off with no-one there for information apart from one cleaner far away. Even just a sign or notice somewhere with the operating time would be nice when we planned our day. It was impossible to tell if it was just a break gap between dinner and lunch or if they were done for the day. At least switching to another restaurant meant we got a good view of the stage show. We'd heard a lot of people weren't fond of the restaurant and the majority of people sitting down had their own food they had brought in since Legoland have relaxed their ban of outside food after a lot of negative press and complaints last year. Crowds were extremely manageable on a Sunday. The biggest line was probably Royal Joust. which may have been due to it only running one side as well as allowing adults to ride it. This was the car park at the busiest point of the day. Legoland have talked about their expansion plans in the next five years, there were two areas of clearing. One near the Dragon coaster and another at the back left of the park which already had construction walls up. Presumably one of these areas will be home to the swimming pool in July that was announced. The apple fries had a cherry blossom theme here. It was nice to see effects returning after being pulled out during the winter event, but a lot were either completely removed in the off-season or still not fixed. The glamping for 2023 sign was removed and presumably cancelled. It'll be interesting to see how many people will stick around when the 9PM night time closing starts, the park has announced they will sell afternoon tickets for 3PM-9PM which has been successful at the other major Korean parks, we tend to see a big crowd at Everland gates with those tickets when we drop by there after school finishes on the weekdays. At least for this day from 5PM-7PM we had the park almost to ourselves, with walk-ons and rides half empty. Rides were still operating but most of the cars had left before closing. My son had another fantastic day at the park so it shouldn't be too long until we return again.

  13. I understand nice restaurants, but it's a pizza place... We specifically take Eve to local family pizza places when we want to be a little less concerned with making noise, or her acting like a 2 year old. Target market. As for controlling your kid, sometimes they're going to act like a kid, regardless. Hence, why a pizza place is a perfect place to chance it, not a steakhouse. There's a fine line between tightening the leash too much, or too little. If anyone is caught in the crosshairs of Roma's pizza at 5pm on a Friday night, and Eve wants to get reasonably noisy after her 'also' long week of daycare, sucks for them. It's even more of a gamble if our niece comes. Hamburger joints, pizza places, and a lot of chain sit-downs are training grounds. Trial and error is how they learn to behave, but I'm not putting her in chains when she drops a fork, spills a glass, or gets a little louder than library hour. She gets better every time we go out, and it was through practice. My personal rant: My hernia sucks today from hockey last night. I'm waiting it out as long as possible until I have to get it looked at.
