  1. And they don't offer the memberships anymore, so I would hold onto it until Six Flags gets rid of them. I certainly plan on holding onto my membership as it's better and cheaper than the current season pass offerings.

  2. Worlds of Fun adds some Sunday nights to Haunt schedule this year! Haunt starts Friday, September 16th. Then will be on Thursday and Sunday nights in addition to the Fri/Sat nights in October starting on the 6th, except for Sunday, Oct 30th. The park will also be open the first two Sat/Sun in November.

  3. You mean Tidal Twister? It's pretty objectively a bad ride (slow, boring, loud, and rattly) and nothing you should be concerned about missing. I've been there twice within the past year, both times it's been closed, and I don't feel particularly heartbroken about it. Emperor is short but pretty fun, and worth a visit if you're in the area.

  4. Yes, the first drop was steepened. You will get airtime, even with the trims, towards the back of the train, on the first drop, and the first hill after the drop, as well as the new little "bump" they put it before the second tunnel. The helix was also substantially changed, and is more awesome, but I won't ruin the surprise for you. Prepare to be very impressed.

  5. Flooded Mine is over 50 years old. I think one of the reasons you think it's in such bad shape is that you are comparing it to more modern attractions. Some things were intended to be static, and others work intermittently. It's been a long time since everything worked all at once. In the old days there were very few moving parts as I understand it. The guns and targets were added in the 70's and changed the nature of the ride. It used to just be a ride through with a bunch of themed scenes. It's just an old ride though and the scenery inside is still incredible even when all the moving parts aren't working. SDC maintenance is suspect sometimes though. It's true that they haven't given it the attention it deserves. I had a friend that used to work on it some years ago and he was constantly running around fixing things but he had little support from management, no budget, and the dysfunctional politics of the place eventually ran him off. They have such high turnover these days and the people coming on don't know how to do all the little mechanical tasks that a ride like this requires. It really is a wildly popular ride that literally anyone can ride. I remember riding it with my grandmother and baby nephew at the same time years ago. Being air conditioned and high capacity are also big plusses. I don't think SDC is capable of replacing FM with anything similar. They are always too tempted to do something crazy to make it more marketable, such as the drop they added to Mystic River when the previous raft ride was already super popular without it. I'm sure the new FITH will have something wild in it too.

  6. It's probably been asked 100 times before, but I never paid attention, since it wasn't not applicable for me. Are there single rider entrances? I wouldn't mind snagging just a couple awkward rides on a coaster or two, but I don't want to leave my wife and daughter waiting long. Year 2001.

  7. Sad to hear Flooded Mine has slipped back into a sorry state, and so quickly too. Our last visit was late 2020 and it had been fixed up pretty well after being how you described it now for some time.

  8. I heard they are modifying it to extend over Lake Erie, adding a world record breaking lift hill, a record 37 inversions and a record breaking drop track. Can't wait to ride Steel Dragsters Revenge when it opens

  9. ^ Sounds good! My friends and I will be headed down to San Antonio in late September, hopefully after the weather has cooled a bit. Can't wait to give this bad boy a run!

  10. Rode it 3 times this morning. Two preshow rooms, they seemed finished to me. I live in LA, so I wasn’t really following construction threads, so I was surprised to hear the Dr. Diabolical character is a woman! Nice touch. Also was surprised by the ride audio stating for rides to scream on the drops. It’s pretty awesome! The locker system is pretty great… use your pass barcode to scan for free (bar codes are provided if you don’t have your pass on you), and you retrieve your items on the other side, so there’s no cross traffic. Been a long time coming. And there was a sign saying it was offering SR.

  11. Hi all, It has been a minute since my last post here, however I came across the news earlier today that Eric Long (EBL) passed away a few months ago. I did not see it here nor anywhere else in the community and felt that it deserved to be mentioned. At one time he had been very active here during the early days of the forum, though he had not posted here for several years. However, for us "old timers" around Southern California there is a good chance that you knew Eric. He had been active in the rollercoaster community and on message boards going back to at least the late 90's. He was also a fixture for a long time at local events. I know he was very involved in the Socal chapter of ACE and would often attend their functions as well. I had met him several times for ride openings and other events and had spoken to him many times online. He was always a very nice guy who was happy to chat about theme parks and rollercoasters. He will be missed!
