I really never thought they would open a park an hour from my house with a drop tower and 5 coasters open 365 days a year and I would never ever ever go there but... here we are.1 point

I'm TOTALLY joining this thread! Brief background: Before 2019, the last time I had been in a coaster was in 2002. I then got married, had kids, and never went again until the kids were old enough. They decided in 2019 they wanted to go. We went to Cedar Point. I gained weight since 2002 with marriage and 2 babies under my belt. I knew I'd have some issues with many coasters, but never would've imagined I would with the old-school Gemini, Mine Ride, Blue Streak systems. After all, they are one large bench seat with one large lap belt for 2 riders! BZZT. Wrong. This MF'ers overhauled all of those and made those into individual seats resulting into even LESS space in those cars! I did the walk of shame. I lived for these things through childhood and my 20s. I was crushed, HOWEVER, it turned out to be the STRONGEST MOTIVATOR yet for me. And I did it. I dumped all pop (Coke, soda, whatever you call it!), 5 gone the first week. I started counting calories. I used a 1000 calorie deficit. I did not snack between meals at ALL. 2.5 months later, 20 gone (I didn't have a scale in the house to jump on throughout). 4 months into it, I added cardio/dance at LEAST 5 days a week (basic details here because I have medical issues that seemed to vanish, too...and that's another story). 6 months later (all from that dreadful day at CP), almost 50 gone. Covid happened (of course) and that took care of testing my weight loss out for 2020 (bad luck). I hit a plateau after almost 60 down. In January 2021, we went keto. By April 2021, I lost close to 80. We hit Busch Gardens and i was so worked up (I had never been there before) the day before. Our hotel room overlooked the park and the fear and anticipation was killing me so much that I made my husband take me to the ticket booths (we were going the next day) so I could maybe beg them to escort me to a test seat. LOL I, literally, did. They wouldn't do that (non-ticket guest can be a big liability), but all 4 of the girls on this small area/booth/office told me I would COMPLETELY be able to ride them all. Next morning, my heart was pounding...I wanted to vomit...and I saw Cheetah Hunt test seat. O M G. I plopped my butt in there and it buckled!!!!! It FIT! In fact, I was so stoked just for that...I didn't want to get out of the test seat!!! LOL. I fit ALL of them. ALLLLLL OF THEM. I stopped keto last august because I was burnt out on it and I needed a break. Even though I never ate crazily after it, I shot up 10lbs. Carbs instantly bind with water (thus, carboHYDRATES) and VOILA. Early this past March, I jumped back on keto and I CANNOT get this 10 pounds off. GRRR. I'm in a panic because our CP trip is in August and I'm still really unsure about the restraints there. I haven't been there since my big weight loss and I simply CANNOT EVEN experience another walk of shame. I suspect my auto-immune issue doesn't want to give up the water portion (Sjogren's is one issue causing dehydration)....so, I'm freaking out. I would love if anyone wants to buddy up and get this done!!!!1 point

Regarding the vest restraints, I will say that the ones on Emperor felt a little more comfortable and forgiving than Valravn's/Gatekeeper's. During the hold on the drop the vests actually "gave" quite a bit and my whole body leaned forward a lot. No super tight locking, but I'm also only 5'9" so I can see how they could ruin the experience for a taller or larger person. Obviously the original restraints will always be better and more freeing due to their ratcheting nature but I do think B&M has improved their vest restraints from the days of their early wing coasters. The beyond vertical drop and airtime hill on Dr. D will be awesome.1 point

I just got back from an Orlando/Tampa trip and was able to ride Iron Gwazi. It was a fantastic ride, but it unfortunately did not live up to the hype for me. I rode Velocicoaster earlier in the week, and I much preferred it; it really shows how far theming can go to make an experience complete! Comparing to other RMCs, I put it behind Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers. Interestingly, I really enjoy the second half of SV that brutally nails you with a bunch of airtime hills that was described above. Because of the length of SV, it also feels like more of a dramatic experience. Even though IG has incredible pacing until the end of the ride, it feels as though it runs out of elements during the second half. The first drop, sideways airtime hill, barrel roll of death (way more crazy than I expected) and wave turn are incredible. After that, the stall and twisty bits just don't match up. It is kind of the opposite of Velocicoaster, which ramps up from beginning to end.1 point

if it's a hot day, the waterpark will take majority of the crowd (other than Bug's flume & Gully Washer Rapids). Flash pass will save you at least 1-2 hour lines on those two alone. . . seriously. . big coasters can be almost walk on, and these two will have massive lines if a hot day (and the Gully Washer line is "hidden". . so you dont' realize exactly how long it is, even after you are in the line). so if you like water rides? yeah, the Flash Pass is worth it.1 point

As someone who has to battle motion sickness issues anyway I can only ride FJ when I full on have a scopolamine patch on, a Dramamine and/or wristbands are not enough. For me it's the same for multiple inversions, any sort of invert, and anything that thinks about spinning. So unfair since I love the actual rides1 point

Forget Halloween. DIN TAI FREAKING FUNG coming to disney was the best announcement of the day!!!! Not just for you guys over in SoCal who already have one like 20min away, but to me this is a gateway to getting one in FLORIDA!!!!!1 point

I am so freaking excited for Din Thai Fung to come to Downtown Disney!!!!!! I hope it's a big restaurant, they are going to be one hell of a busy restaurant!!! I also find it interesting that they are replacing Catal and Uva with a Mexican inspired menu with Tortilla Jo's and the Taqueria right down the way.. It must be a completely different type of menu maybe (hopefully), not offering the standard Mexican fare. Or... Tortilla Jo's and the Taqueria are on the chopping block after this opens, which I think it equally possible.1 point

The Disneyland Resort has shared a ton of news regarding the resort hotels and Downtown Disney including a reimagined Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, new resort benefits and new venues coming to Downtown Disney! https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/news-from-the-disneyland-resort-upcoming-pixar-plans-big-foodie-news-and-more/ Yesterday, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock met with community leaders about upcoming plans for magical new experiences coming to the Disneyland Resort, and we wanted to bring you in on the fun! Here’s a peek behind the curtain of what’s on the horizon for our guests, starting with some news from the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort! Hotels of the Disneyland Resort News Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will soon begin a transformation, with an all-new theme! The reimagining of the hotel will weave the artistry of Pixar into its comfortable, contemporary setting. Guests will gain a new perspective on some of their favorite Pixar worlds and characters through carefully curated artwork, and décor that reveals the creative journey of the artists who helped bring these stories to life. Guests will be welcomed into whimsical character moments, like the iconic, playful Pixar Lamp balancing atop its ball in the lobby (as pictured in this artist concept rendering). Stay tuned, as we will share much more about this project soon! Not only do we have new and reimagined experiences coming for hotel guests, but more benefits as well! Beginning later this summer, guests staying at one of the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort will be able to enjoy several new and returning uniquely Disney benefits to staying with us on property. As you may know, our guests already enjoy access to Disney California Adventure park directly through Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa entrance, and convenient Monorail access for Disneyland Hotel guests. Today, we’re excited to share that a walkway is currently under construction which will soon give Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel guests a convenient entrance to Disney California Adventure park! Guests can also look forward to “Hey Disney!” – a new kind of voice assistant which works alongside Alexa on Amazon Echo devices in Disneyland Resort hotel rooms that can make your stay more convenient, engaging, and enjoyable – later this year. Later this summer, guests of the Disneyland Resort hotels can look forward to the ability to send select theme park purchases back to their resort hotel. Last but certainly not least, we’re getting ready to offer early entry access, where guests staying at one of our Disneyland Resort hotels can be among the first to enter and begin enjoying select theme park attractions and experiences beginning later this summer. Downtown Disney District News We also are happy to share another new look at the exciting shopping and dining coming to the west side of the Downtown Disney District. While the evolution of Downtown Disney began in 2018, we recently began work on the latest transformation to introduce more innovative shopping, dining and entertainment experiences. Drawing inspiration from Southern California mid-century modern architecture, the west-end area will be a beautiful blend of vibrant color palettes, design elements and patterns influenced by the region, and will include an open lawn for relaxation and future events, and an even broader and diverse collection of dining and shopping. We are investing significantly in Downtown Disney District to continue growing a dynamic, exciting destination with something for everyone. We also are intentionally diversifying our offerings to meet the needs of today’s guests, and have an exciting example of that to share with you today. The world-renowned restaurant Din Tai Fung will join the district to offer guests their soup dumplings hand crafted right on site! This family-run restaurant will bring flavorful Chinese cuisine to Downtown Disney, where guests can enjoy dishes served family style in a creative space near our new lawn pavilion. Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytan will bring his inclusive vision of Mexican cuisine to Paseo and Centrico in the locations currently occupied by Catal & Uva Bar, brought to life by Patina Restaurant Group. The restaurant and central courtyard bar and dining area will offer guests a multi-sensory journey to the heart of Chef Gaytan’s homeland. We are also working with Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen to finalize an evolution that incorporates vibrant California energy and a fresh approach to the menu, while staying true to the heart of New Orleans for this guest-favorite location. Even more exciting news – fan favorite Earl of Sandwich will also pop into the district in a special sandwich walk-up location, offering guests the classics they know and love for a limited time beginning later this year. Mickey’s Toontown News As we shared previously, Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland park is undergoing a reimagining of its own, and will debut with new experiences and more play for guests, with a focus on families and young children, in early 2023. Today we are sharing a photo of our teams breaking ground on the land, coming together to celebrate this milestone and the work underway to bring this transformation to life. We can’t wait to debut all of these offerings – and more – coming to the Disneyland Resort!1 point

Fun night with @PKI Jizzman getting night rides on this beast! Look how short the line was! Went into IOA around 3 and was once again treated to walk ons and short lines everywhere. In the first hour I was able to ride Hulk twice, Dr Doom, and Spiderman twice. Forgot how fantastic Spiderman is, definitely one of my favorites from either park. Made my way around for a few first-to-me rides, starting with a quick 5 minute wait for Kong. This was terrific and IMO much better than F&F. River Adventure was next, also a first for me on an IOA classic. Kind of cheesy, but really fun and naturally we absolutely drowned after watching people come off bone dry. Always seems to work out that way for me! Went over to Poseidon, also for the first time. While it is a bit time consuming, it's a fantastic attraction with tons of cool effects. Didnt know what to expect going into it, but it really delivered with the wow factor a few times! Hit Velocicoaster next and went to row 2 to get the front experience without actually being in front. The first half of the ride really stands out up here. Seems like a lot more great ejector moments and that dive loop is mental up there. Met up with @PKI Jizzman at the Hogs Head for a beer and we made our way into the line for Forbidden Journey. Well, joke was on us. The ride was a total walk on and we had to stand aside for a few minutes to finish our beers! Anyway, this is by far the best dark ride I've ever ridden and I can never get enough. It pulls off the flying effect perfectly and there are so many great sets. Such a home run. Finished up the night with a couple mental night rides in the back on Velocicoaster. You can't see in the first half and some of those turns are surprisingly forceful when you can't see them coming. The air over the top hat is second to none in the back and then the barrel roll blows my mind. Every. Damn. Time. So sad I have to leave this thing behind after tomorrow. Great to meet a new TPR member, thanks for hanging out Zach! Down to one more Universal day, then it's off to the Mouse.1 point

Holy schnikes, three years?! This isn't a refurb, this is demolishing and building something completely new! I'm excited to see what they're gonna be doing! It's not like we're losing anything here, seeing as it's a copy of California and Hong Kong's version right now. Give me new funky stuff!1 point

Space Mountain and Tomorrowland Being Rebuilt in 2027 at Tokyo Disneyland Space Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland to close in 2024 and reopen in 2027 to be 'more thrilling and have better effects' with the surrounding area having a huge upgrade too. This looks amazing, really great to see Tokyo Disneyland being bold and ambitious. I always feel the the Tomorrowlands end up being a discombobulated mess, so to go nuclear and basically rebuild everything is a great way to avoid this problem. I don't even know where to begin with this. Intamin sprays three coats of SPF 50 clear coat on their coasters, which not only preserves the colors, but it also makes it so the sun doesn't burn the steel. However, this paint is less reliable than B&M paint, despite its ability to withstand higher G forces.1 point

Just some old power tools, and I think a leaf blower, a weed wacker, two broken rakes, a small wasps nest, a rusty chainsaw we been trying to sell on Craigslist. Oh and your brother Jimmys porno mags. But the weed wacker runs like a dream, that I can tell you.1 point
