I'm super bummed about Volcano still but the idea that a park with a new RMC and the world's most intense giga coaster in it even gets mentioned in this thread is sort of nuts to me.5 points

https://www.syracuse.com/coronavirus/2021/02/ny-amusement-parks-can-reopen-overnight-summer-camps-can-plan-to-cuomo-says.html New York is finally allowing amusement parks to re-open, they are capping them at 33% capacity which seems like what Disney was attempting. I for one am just glad they finally came to their senses and are allowing these outdoor businesses to return. Hopefully Six Flags Members will be able to select dates to reserve since they are requiring pre sold tickets as part of re-opening.3 points

INCREDIBLY friendly. I've only ever seen one person not able to get the "cage" restraint to click. (WW does not have standard RMC restraint. .it's a "cage" that comes down over you - with two connected shoulder straps - and then clicks into a seatbelt in the front. the only coaster you're going to have an issue with is going to be Poltergeist. the restraints on that are NOT friendly to many different body types - the lap bar will be fine, but the shorter side seatbelt MUST be able to click, and many folks have issues with that. So expect you won't be able to ride Poltergeist. It's extremely rare that I've ridden and the train didn't have at least 1 - usually 2 - folks that have to get out as restraint won't click in place. the two B&Ms (Goliath (Batman clone) & Superman) both have "Big Boy" seats). Iron Rattler & Pandemonium have lap bar that have a lot of space. IR has an adjustable seat belt that has to be on too.. that wont' be an issue, but you might need to really suck in to get the green light. you should be ok. Roadrunner is old skool lap bar restraints, so no worries there. Batman (S&S 4D), again has an overhead that has to lock in, but also never seen someone walked from that. I dunno on Boomerang, as havne't ridden in a while, but believe it's OTSR, so that should be ok if you wanted to ride it.2 points

The obvious answer is Energylandia. But, besides that, which large, coaster-heavy park do you think has the worst/most mediocre collection of coasters? I’d have to go with Six Flags Great America or Six Flags Over Texas. SFOT has 13/14 coasters, with only 3 or 4 real standouts. For me, they are New Texas Giant, Shockwave, Runaway Mountain, and Mr. Freeze. Some may consider Titan a standout, but I personally think it’s the dullest form of hyper (along with Goliath at SFMM). Six Flags Great America has 15 coasters, mostly clones, with a similar amount of standouts. And as fun as Raging Bull and Goliath are, they’re generally considered among the weakest of their types. At least they ended up keeping Whizzer! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm definitely happy that so many parks are sporting collections of a dozen coasters or more. I know most parks offer more today than they ever have before (maybe not Kings Dominion) and I'm not complaining--I'm just interested in the conversation. (And personally, I prefer a park with a small but very solid lineup--Silver Dollar City, Liseberg, etc.--over a park full of clones). So, what are your thoughts?1 point

SFDL isnt great, and isnt terrible. Generic would be fairly accurate. A Boomerang, a SLC, the first Intamin hyper, the first 5 inversion Arrow that still runs fairly well, a Dinn woodie thats overdue for demolition or RMC (supposedly being retracked with Titan track soon) and a Gerstlauer Iron Shark clone thats smooth and fun.1 point

^^Good call on La Ronde...and we've been to that Chinese park you mentioned...and when we went it had even worse crap!1 point

Six Flags over Texas is a decent pick, we liked the park but none of the coasters blew us away. Their best coaster might be the Batman clone. I wouldn’t pick it but I see where you’re coming from. Aside from that, this place has to be the champion. Ten coasters and... wow. Of the parks I’ve been to though I’m going with La Ronde. Everyone knows I don’t like that park in general but their coaster lineup does them few favors even though that wasn’t really my main issue with the place. When we went they also had an atrocious standup and that crappy Vekoma. They’ve since removed those and are in the process of building the former (arguably) worst coaster in America so uh... yay?. Even their Batman clone runs worse than it should and while the hyper is fun, it’s the weakest B&M hyper I’ve ever been on by default.1 point

Getting a real "Squarespace" vibe. Feels like someone at Cedar Fair got their hands on a good promo code from whatever podcast they listen to and jumped on it.1 point

Chessington World of Adventure has announced their 2021 addition, Croc Drop! https://www.chessington.com/explore/theme-park-zoo/whats-new/ BRAVE THE DROP, RELEASE THE CURSE Set to ‘drop’ in spring, those daring will plunge 25m into the giant jaws of a crocodile, Sobek, the ancient Egyptian Crocodile God and protector of the Nile, who has been possessed by evil spirits, transforming him into a cruel deity. With the once fertile Nile laying stagnant, riders must take part in a ceremony to banish the evil spirits from Sobek, plunging into the crocodile’s soul and freeing the waters back into the Nile. Those between 1.2m and 1.3m must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 16, while those a minimum height of 1.3m can ‘drop’ alone.1 point

It's the 150th anniversary, you can't go into a monumental milestone like that without a fresh new website that takes the industry by storm.1 point

So THAT'S what Cedar Fair has been doing, instead of planning the 2021 season like everybody else...1 point

I don't believe the mask requirement will be removed until 2022. I wear mine at Dollywood from open to close without any issues. I don't even know it is on. It actually helped keep my face warmer in the colder months.1 point

Worlds of Fun I wasn't originally planning on visiting Worlds of Fun this past summer, but it became a necessity if I wanted to make Orion my 1000th coaster. After Diamond Back was closed at Frontier City, I'd be short one coaster. So I squeezed Worlds of Fun into the trip to shamelessly get the Cosmic Coaster kiddie credit I missed in 2018. I had heard this coaster was off-limits for adults back then, but I knew several people who recently got the credit with no issue. But I made sure to hit all my other favorites at Worlds of Fun as well. My favorite coaster there is still Prowler, even if I think it's overrated. The ride was running smoother than it was in 2017, but the airtime was lacking, particularly on the outward leg. The second half was the only place I consistently got pops of airtime throughout the train. I still love this coaster's setting and it's clear this was the inspiration for Mystic Timbers. 7 out of 10 I have no 2020 photos of Prowler, so here's one from 2018. Patriot is probably my least favorite invert, but it's still a fun ride. Most of the inversions aren't all that powerful, but the zero-G roll is floaty and the ride is glass smooth. I also love the candy cane paint scheme. 7 out of 10 Timber Wolf had a lot of retracking before my 2018 visit and the ride is still running similarly. The ride is pretty bumpy towards the back, but it's fairly smooth up front. The ride is trimmed quite a bit, but there are a few pops of airtime scattered about. 6 out of 10 Mamba dominates the park's skyline. Of the trio of Cedar Fair hypers, I think Steel Force is head and shoulders better than the other two. Mamba has the same issue as Wild Thing. The mid-course trim saps the ride of all its speed for the return run, killing the airtime. The ride is very smooth and the first two hills do give some great floater airtime at least. 6 out of 10 Unfortunately, a lot of the non-coasters were closed. That included the water rides and the two best flat rides in Detonator and Cyclone Sam's. Boomerang was also closed. That in itself wasn't an issue for me, but the path past Boomerang was closed. So Mamba was at a dead end that required you to navigate around the entire park. Since I ended up walking onto all the coasters, I ended up leaving early and starting the drive to Holiday World. Worlds of Fun isn't my favorite Cedar Fair park, but it's similar to Dorney in that you can come here and ride some solid coasters without any waits.1 point
