  1. I'm waiting for someone to say they don't have a hotel, because Cedar Fair doesn't want Kings Island to compete with Cedar Fair.

  2. Interesting how Cedar Point has so many on site hotels to encourage guests to extend their vacations, and yet Kings Island closed their own hotel years ago. Why won't they build another one? Knotts has a hotel, and even Carowinds built a new one a few years back. It just makes no sense why they would not want to capitalize on their guests. These cabins are a nice start, but they really need a full hotel with on site restaurants.

  3. I got the survey too and while interesting, I am not sure they will get enough people out in the cold without at least some rides going. I agree with Bert that they really do have to pay more attention to the quality of the surveys though. There was more than once where I answered and then the next question was based on what I did not choose. I pointed this out in the comments.

  4. I'm here now and the crane is still up and they are working on the retrack. There are large sections of missing topper track that have been removed. Maybe they will get it done in time for the spring opening.

  7. ^ Heh, funny you should mention your back porch... Here's our back yard upper deck, off the kitchen, with it's sad little string of yellow lights. Year round, too. We dearly need new lights in this area! You can barely make them out, right? (Photo taken several minutes after 4pm.)

  8. I dunno, Zach. Nothing screams luxury to me more than being located directly behind the McDonald's and next to an industrial park off of I-71. Ooh, totally dripping in luxury!

  9. "8 or less hours" Yeah, if it were a case where the park was fully open, I might consider doing an eight hour road trip, but for a limited Christmas event that focuses on lights and food moreso than rides? That's a pretty tough sell. These events are meant for locals to get out and enjoy a little bit of their home park, not enthusiasts looking for their next fix. And that's not even taking into account whatever arbitrary travel restrictions that may currently be in place from state to state (not discussing the validity of them, just simply stating that they exist).

  10. oh look. . I got a survey from Kennywood asking me what type of "events" I'd prefer they do to get me coming to the park most often. luckily, there's a space on the last page to give some feedback on what other new special events I'd like to see at Kennywood:

  11. I actually agree with many of you talking about how the RMC's are all very similar. And that's fine. There's nothing wrong with building a ton of very similar kick ass rides when most people who ride one will never even know of the other ones. I've been comparing them to the B&M inverts of the 90's. They're all awesome, intense rides, but they all have the same elements just in slightly different orders. I would also love to see some more unique elements in the future from them, but for now I'm quite content with their offerings.

  12. Holy crap you nerds are a tough crowd. It looks like a coaster that will make me hoot and holler the entire time I'm on it while simultaneously trying to throw my fat ass as far from the train as possible. I'm so damn sold.

  13. I don't even know how to say this because I just can't even believe it... It is with heavy heart to say that Josh (HWFan) passed away today after a lengthy battle. This young man was such an amazing person, not just in the amusement industry... for anyone who had ever met him, he was so incredibly smart, kind, warm, and enthusiastic. Please keep Josh's family in your prayers.
