  1. There have been some great new updates from Disney Parks today! First, check out some brand new footage of the prototype ride vehicles of Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT! And now, here's some further updates on Cosmic Rewind and all of the other projects happening around EPCOT! Remy's Ratatouille Adventure will be opening in 2021! "...plans are on track to open Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in 2021. Based on Disney and Pixar’s hit film, “Ratatouille,” this family-friendly attraction will invite you to shrink down to the scale of a rat for a culinary adventure with Chef Remy. During each adventure, you’ll race across Gusteau’s kitchen floor aboard special trackless ride vehicles in a thrilling 3D chase." 2. ^I also think they're banking on the idea that people really want to drive their car through a theme park. I mean, to be honest, it is kind of fun and cool the first couple of times you can drive around. Then it very much becomes just part of your normal work day when you do it there as an employee.

  3. This is the most hilariously expensive drive through light event I've ever heard of. $20 per person (not per car) with a two person minimum per car. So for a family of four it's $80 to drive through the park and look at lights? I know it's Southern California but LOL. I feel like the main motivating factor here is just that they want people to un-freeze memberships and they can go back to billing them monthly.

  5. You mean like this. . . (pssst, all wooden coasters run on steel rails, well, with the exception of the flying turns) Also, who would have thought the first RMC coaster to get the RMC treatment would have been Lightning Rod lol lol.

  6. Bayern Kurve is indeed my favorite flat ride... so naturally was disturbed about Kennywood's actions. It has come full circle since I "lost" my Kurves at Cedar Point, Kings Island, Geauga Lake, Canada's Wonderland, etc when I was young. The happiness I felt the first time I went to Kennywood and saw, even from the road, that this park had one. Back in the old pre-internet days, you didn't know what the park had til you got there. Kennywood was always on the list to visit once I learned they took special care of the historical rides... Kangaroo, Noah's Ark, Old Mill, Paratrooper, Whip ... happy that my kids also got to enjoy these rides as we often visited while traveling from Connecticut back to the families in Ohio each year. Always afraid that Kennywood would go full corporate like Six Flags and Cedar Fair, and surprised it took so long to do so... Sorry... had to rant on my first post of any kind on this website.. and agree, if Kennywood can't do it anymore... sell the rides to Knoebels-- they know and care about preserving the classics!

  7. Oh and a total loud Thank you shout out to the very very kind Dollywood staff who helped get my car key back to me (and the very kind anonymous person who turned it in after I was stupid enough to lose it from a zippered pocket ) so that my son and I were not stranded 500 miles from home waiting for someone in St Louis to fedex the spare key to us.

  8. "Lloyd" is the name of the character this park official played as a cameo in the Hallmark Christmas movie "Christmas at Dollywood" To be safe (cause I am not sure of the rules here) I won't name him but it's easy enough for you to figure out who in park management this is and this was at an official Q & A session at Saturday's Smoky Mt Coasterfest, which I attended. He did confirm that sections of the topper track would be replaced by I-box, stated that the launch should now be much more reliable, and did not discuss the trains at all. I got the impression they firmly believe the track is the issue not the trains. He also said there will be trackwork done on Mystery Mine and indicated that they were looking at replacing the trains so that over the shoulder restraints would not be needed. Which as I am now sitting here with actual bruises on my shoulders from the airtime jamming me up into the shoulder restraints, I am only 5' 1" not sure how much that factors into it, is welcome news.

  9. So they went to that area of the park with the perpetually-broken-since-forever-low-capacity-that-has-to-close-early-if-it-actually-opens Alpine Bobsleds and the Ferris Wheel looking for something to remove for budget and they came up with the Ferris Wheel? Oh...

  10. I don't care if this is wood, steel, PVC, or a combination of anything. As long as it has the same great layout and actually runs reliably, I'm happy!

  11. Hello everyone! Although the removal of rides at La Feria has been going for about a month, starting this week it has taken full speed with the beginning of the disassembly of Quimera and Raton Loco. More pictures here It seems likely that they are planning to remove all the rides before the official announcement of the winner of the concession agreement for the construction and operation of the new park to be located here, the announcement iwill take place on november 29th.

  13. I may be in the minority here, but I feel like we are starting to see a lot of similarities between the RMC roller coasters. Personally, my favorite RMC is still NTAG and I was a huge fan of Twisted Timbers. I loved the three airtime hills on Twisted Timbers that felt more like El Toro than an RMC. I watched an NTAG pov last night just to see the differences 10 years makes. It is both impressive and crazy how much RMC has been able to push the boundaries. We all know that NTAG has great ejector airtime, but it definitely feels more drawn out. Like I said, I am probably in the minority, but I hope future RMC's focus less on the over banking in the second half of rides and more on sustained airtime.

  14. Yeah, the difference to the rider between I-Box track and the current track is really minimal. The only major difference would be that the ride would actually be open when you wanted to ride it and when you were in line for it you could hear a bunch of obnoxious enthusiasts bragging to everyone who was willing to listen that they rode it with the old track and it was way better.

  15. Radiator Springs Racers. Hear me out. Normally it's a perfectly fine ride with randos because it starts immediately (no lift hill) and holds everyone's attention the entire time. That being said, the 3-and-3 seating can lead to an odd man out situation for groups, usually the fourth sitting in the back with a group of two or two singles. My wife and I were assigned a car just like this many times, but there was one time, hoo boy, where I got the honor of sitting next to a very disgruntled father who had his wife and children in the front. Apparently this guy figured the second row was enough distance that he could trash talk his family and whine about how awful and expensive Disney is for the entire ride. I guess being another 30-something guy made him think I was a shoulder to cry (read - bitch) on. The entire ride I was doing the awkward dead-eyed smile while he droned on and on, his wife looking back constantly to give him death stares, his kids having the time of their lives, and him just equating his current predicament to being an inmate on Riker's. Other than that I love the ride!

  16. ^ Ever since visiting Rainbow Magicland in Italy I've wondered why more places aren't investing in huge solar panel farms for their parking lots, ESPECIALLY here in Vegas. We have so many uncovered lots that result in your car baking at 150 degrees. Throw up some coverage, stick some panels on there, rake in the free electricity and happy customers.
