niiicolaaah Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Yesterday, my friend gave her graduation recital, so I made the extremely boring drive down to Fredonia to attend. I got to see some of my old friends from high school and college, and got the bonus of seeing one of my old teachers, whose band was playing at the place we went for dinner. I attended Fredonia for my undergrad. It's a very small and boring place, which leads to insanity and tons of hilarious antics when you are a music major there, lol. Here's Part 1 of random randomness... Afterwards, I got to hang out with Katie, who I hadn't seen since September. Ashly came down with ADD when she stepped foot into her reception. Ashly and Ed should play some duets. Oooh, the reason I came! These dudes were totally walking around carrying open containers of beer. Must have been freshman. Or just stupid. It was Fred Fest, which is when lots of bands play outside and everybody is totally wasted. Ahh, finally, here we are. This is Mason Hall, the school of music. Too bad Waldameer isn't open, I could go Credit Hoin' Ho Oats... lol. It's a beautiful day in Buffalo, NY. There is the Peace Bridge, I never use it cause the traffic is usually insane. Here I am, driving along the US/Canada border in my luxurious 1996 Saturn.
niiicolaaah Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 Part 2: Extreme randomness and Ellicottville Brew Company. I also forgot to mention my hilarious experience at Ellicottville. I was sitting at the end of the bar with some of my friends, watching this band play, when the two bouncers start trying to talk to me. One was like "Are you going to buy us drinks?" so i said "No." He laughed, said something to the other bouncer, and walked away. Then the other bouncer says, "So, how's your semester going?" and I said, "I don't go to school here." lollll. It was getting cold, so Katie and I popped our collars and hid. Thanks for reading my insanely random PTR of doom! They're brewing beer in there!!! I couldn't get a good picture of him cause he was moving around too much! Oh snap, the drummer was Eric Wills, my Technology in Music teacher, and former boss at the computer lab. Ellicottville has this nice upstairs part. If you go up here at night you find lots of drunk people making out in the dark. It started to pick up in anticipation of the live jazz! Hehe, "fuzzy bull balls" I tried some beer and I liked it. "It's cute, it's little, it's fun, I like it" It's a cute place, much classier than the dive bars of downtown Fredonia that I used to frequent We went here. It was fun. We ran into my friend Scott, who is a former ACE member. Some of you may remember him from my PCW TR from last year. I have no idea what this sculpture is supposed to be. I call this: Desolation of a music major. Please don't push that button. Antics Old Mason, a very pretty building which is half of the SOM After the recital, Katie and I walked around campus. Here is Maytum Hall, aka the giant urinal.
TheStig Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 That was interesting to say the least! Nice PTR, I really don't know what else to say, so Im just gonna stop here... Colin C
Florida420 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Careful with that blueberry beer, that's the "gateway " beer. 8) BTW what's up with this guy?? Is it Osama? or Bill the "Coasta-Wizard"???
niiicolaaah Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 Yeah, I know, my friend Irene's boyfriend was all like "All the girls on campus like that stuff." and I was like, whatever. lol. I still don't like beer, I still won't choose to drink it. I'll never be a "beer drinker", lol. It was nice to try.
downunder Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I hope you told George Bush you found Osama. I can relate to not liking beer, I am male and Australian, and it is unheard of not like beer. Even worse I have played pro sport for teams sponsored by breweries all that free beer, and I don't like it.

USRoadTripper Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Hey, do you know Andrea Sobocinski?? Short, long blonde hair...was Mickey Mouse at WDW?? She was a music major at Fredonia. She's 24 now, so she would have graduated a couple of years ago I guess. She was my roommate when I lived at Vista Way! -Julie
Nrthwnd Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 ^ 6 Uh uh. Not I, said fly.... I was actually "entertaining the masses" on the other side of the (her) world, lol. Nope. Nada. Must be anudda..... (Edit: So I can't count backwards that well. Bite me. )

We probably went to school at the same time though, because I am almost 23. Was she a voice major? That could explain why I didn't know her, lol. The instrumentalists tended to stick together and be segregated from the crazy voice majors, lol.
MrsPhishy Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Ahhh, the urinal. Sigh, memories. Great trip report! I'm a Fredonia alumni as well. It's cool to see pictures. And you were there during FredFest!! Good times, from what I remember. What the heck is that sculpture? That's new since I was there last. Did the Elicottville Brewery used to be Barker Brew? It must be because it looks exactly the same. But no pictures of Sunny's? I'm disappointed... Ok, enough rambling, great trip report!
niiicolaaah Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 ^^LOL Sunny's. I stayed away from there. I actually ended up leaving Fredonia around 10 pm cause all the drunken FredFest people started coming downtown lol. Yeah, Barker closed a couple years ago, and Ellicottville moved into that building last year. It looks pretty much the same, except the outside of the building isn't pink anymore. The sculpture was new last year, we have many theories about what it is supposed to be. I think it's hideous. Worse than the rotting newspaper pile sculpture. Now that I think about it, I only went to Scum's twice during my Fredonia career. Both times I was already totally obliterated.
cfc Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Fredonia, eh? Do you get a lot of "Rufus T. Firefly" jokes? (Groucho Marx was President Rufus T. Firefly of Freedonia in Duck Soup.) "Hail, hail Freedonia!" Remember--all he can "promise you is a Rufus over your head."
niiicolaaah Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 ^ I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. But Rufus Wainright or however you spell his name was on campus when I was there.
cfc Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 ^DuckSoup is the Marx Brothers' funniest movie. Groucho is Rufus T. Firefly, president of Freedonia, who is running the country into the ground because they were stupid enough to make him president. (Sounds rather familiar--hmm . . .) Zeppo is Groucho's aide. Chico and Harpo are spies from Freedonia's arch rival, Sylvania. How did you get through college without seeing Duck Soup? I weep for today's youth.
