I just saw on the news tonight that a human finger was found in one of the Wendy's Chili. The lady eating it noticed something crunchy (Ok...I'm now grossed out while I type) and found a finger in it. This was in San Jose, Cali. What are your thoughts?

Just so everyone knows it's real, here is the story:

Wendy's diner finds human finger in her chili

And in other related news:

However, I agree with Dave Thomas (the guy who posts here, not the dead Wendy's guy) that this is just a marketing gimmick for new food options!

Nope, not my finger. I need them for grabbing things and tossing them and other tasks.

Of course, it could be the dead DT's finger. But if that's the case, they really missed out on an amazing marketing opportunity. They could have held a "Find The Founder's Finger" contest, and the person that found it in some Wendy's food could have been elegabled for valuble cash and prizes. Just another reason why big companies should really contact me for really unique marketing ideas...

This is why I stopped eating at Wendy's about 8 years ago.

See...I dunno....I think that's kind of a lame excuse to "stop eating someplace."

Would you stop going on Superman: Ride of Steel because someone died on it? Do you not fly on airplanes because some of them have crashed? Do you not drive a car because there are accidents on the interstate?

If you don't like the food, that's one thing, but to stop eating someplace because they had a mishap, IMO, that's really stupid.

Thinking about this, I'd have to agree w/ Robb here. Yes, I'm grossed out by it but this can easily happen in food we buy at the store. So are we going to starve ourselves due to a mishap? This is gross though...I wonder how a finger would have gotten in the chili without knowing.

But are you 100% sure it was their food that made them sick?

Could they possibly have had a bug in their system and food triggered it? You cant dispute that really. How many times have you been feeling ok, then, ate something, thrown up then realized you had the flu?

Not to say it cant happen, but I am willing to be every single fast food chain has had someone get sick. No ones perfect, someone can easily put the stuff in wrong, mix wrong ingredients, etc. I know its all been dumbified, but people still find a way.

I am trying to stay away mearly to get more in shape. Im sure it hasnt helped me much lately.

Geez, what is it with Wendys? 2 months ago I hear of a box cutter being in a kids meal, now human fingers?

There was a story here a while ago about a fast food chain... someone found a rusty nail in their orange juice.

Avoid Hostess too... i witnessed my friend finding a live worm in her chocolate chip mini muffin... not the greatest experience...

Turned that muffin into one nutritious meal! (not joking...but, dont know if Id eat it personally, know someone who would)

Stuff like that happens more then anyone thinks.

Just yesterday I was stocking at my retail job and off the truck came a box with a real turd (smell and all) stuck the side of the box. Who would have done this, and why, but it certaintly was interestign and gross at the same time.

Here's my thought. All restaurants have roaches and mice. Doesn't matter how often you exterminate, where large amounts of food are concerned, they can't be avoided. Here's the differance: I go into a restaurant and 'see' a roach while i'm eating and i will not go back there. I know they have them, i just don't want to see them. Same goes for finding a hair in my food.

Every FF joint i worked at made some people sick. It happens. But when it comes to body parts... That's beyond gross.

I stay away from FF joints. My system will not take that kind of food anymore. It was fine for the first 30 years, but at 42, that food doesn't like me.

My roommate stopped going on Superman. Well, he was in the station and he was about to ride superman for the first time and then he saw the accident happen. Steered him clear away from riding roller coasters. Even I can't make him ride one, he won't budge.
