robbalvey Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Hey everyone, Just to let you know we will start accepting video contest submissions for this year's contest starting March 1st! The deadline for all videos will be a little earlier this year (postmarked by April 1st) due to we want to have the contest done by the time we leave for the UK trip. More details will come very soon, but if you plan on entering a video into the contest, now you know some rough details! BTW, rules won't change much from the last two year's contest, so if you are thinking about entering a video for the first time, have a look at the rules first: http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2005/contestrules2005.htm If you have any questions, please post them here! --Robb
Twister II Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Still 40 videos? I think that 40 is a perfect number for videos.
MrMorgan Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 YAY!!! I've been waiting... You won't be disappointed.
coasterguy618 Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Finally! I have been wanthing another video contest for a while.
Carnage Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Cool. I've gotten alot better then last year. Last years entries were my first attempt at DV editing. Still probably not good enough to win, but I'll still give it a shot.
Luxo Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Yes! I've been saving one video in particular for a year just for this contest.
TheStig Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Yay another contest! I got my camera after the last one ended, so this will be my first one to enter! Ive got maybe 2 videos ready now, but Ill try and make another one... Colin C
Thrillrider15 Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Heeheehee. I just read the rules from lastyears contest. I know where you live Robb! Anyways, I think I'll be sending in an entry on one I made last year (with my first/crappy) camera. And also, my video skills have improved since before so, ya.
Reon Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Man...for someone who works with animation so much, I REALLY need to do some filming (or get a video camera for that matter) Oh well, maybe I'll have something for next year Either way, being a reviewer is half the fun of the contest.
WillMontu Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 My camcorder is capable of shooting in 16:9 resolution (wide screen). Would it be okay to shoot in this higher resolution, or should I try and shoot in 1.33:1 (full screen)
PhishyBrewer Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Finally... I've been waiting for this my whole life. Now how do I edit again?
robbalvey Posted February 20, 2006 Author Posted February 20, 2006 ^ The problem with 16x9 is that not everyone can view it in this format (hell, we don't have have a 16x9 TV!) If you want to shoot in 16x9, be forewarned that your video might end up having to be converted when we put it online or even on a DVD. We got a couple of entries last year, for example, I believe "Vertigo" was 16x9 that converted ok. --Robb
WillMontu Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I will probably shoot it on 16:9, but I will size it so it fits on a standard resolution display, provided that you don't mind seeing the black bars (think of it as being a feature film)
robbalvey Posted February 20, 2006 Author Posted February 20, 2006 ^ Yup, that's fine. Have a look at the Vertigo video: http://www.robbalvey.com/contest2005/vertigo.zip I'm pretty sure that's what Tinhead did. --Robb
BarryH Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I've always wanted to do a R&E video parody called "Bobb and Alyssia Allbey's Coaster Season," but I can't find people who look like R&E!
