ebl Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Just a note: Normally I purchase my Solace tickets on Saturday morning when I get there. However, Steve Berto (ACE rep) e-mailed me and said that Knott's isn't selling tickets that day; you have to pre-order them. Now I'm confused. I think I'll call Knott's and find out. But I'm not sure whether I'm even going this year. Without any behind the scenes tours or industry speakers, it's almost not worth it. OK, so you get a T-shirt, lanyard, some ERT, and a free all-you-can-eat-if-there's-any-left-after-the-ACEers-eat lunch. I have a 31 Flavors coupon for $23.95, good through March. We'll see. Eric
Token Yankee Guy Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that Don told me their should be an ERT on Ghost Rider and Silver Bullet friday night for anyone who purchased that hotel deal.
Sean Menefee Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Al and I just got our plans nailed out and my weekend events look like this: Drive all night Thursday night to be in SoCal by early Friday morning. Disneyland Friday till the event that night Knotts Saturday Magic Mountain on Sunday Then drive our butts off to get back up to NorCal to be at work bright and early Monday morning. Work has been nutty lately so this trip can't come soon enough IMO.
Jeezus Juice Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 ^are you sure you don't want to call in sick and go to the DLR with your homies Sean? Allright, so to recap: Tursday evening: Mo and Craig cold chillin' at the KRH Friday: Them two at Knotts for the day and the evening dinner Sat: Them two + Guy (and whoever else) at Knotts again with the $23 coupons. Sun: All of the above at SFMM and then some guys house down the street. Mon: Don FINALLY makes an appearence and plays tour guide around LA. Kinda like the fat agent guy from Superstar Limo (more hair though) Tues: 'A CT Yankee in Disneyland's Forecourt' event with Donica, Craig, and whoever else shows up! Wed: Craig flys home to the artic and Monica and Don Parkhop their way back to the 5 and head home. YAY! Also I really don't think the actual Solace 'event' is even worth doing. For $23 (with coupon) you can get into the park all day and you won't have to get up crazy early for ERT's you don't really need anyway. Without the walkback tours and guest speakers Solace isn't really that much of an event anymore. They still sell the T-Shirts over by Ghostrider if you want one that badly, and the money you save can buy you more than enough food, and you don't have to fight ACERs for it! Still, it's a great day to hang out with everyone, even if the event perks are practically non-existant now! See some of you guys there! -Don
CoasterFanatic Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Still, it's a great day to hang out with everyone, even if the event perks are practically non-existant now! That is why it is still a great event and why I would travel for it. I understand the logic that you can do as much for less, but it is really about getting together with the people.

That's what the BBQ is for Ted, getting together and having Robb's wings.
DerekRx Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Don't know what got into me; maybe it was the boring day at work with miserable weather, perhaps it was the desire to have some of Robb's wings, possibly I wanted to see some friends, or perhaps it was that darn Space Mountain song playing at work today, but I decided what the heck and booked a trip out there. Thurs night- arrive Friday- DLR Saturday- Knotts (not sure if I'm doing the event or not yet) Sunday- SFMM (WCB!), Alvey party, Red-eye home Of course, this means Deja Vu will be closed, sorry folks!
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 ^Cool Derek! It will be great to see you again.
CoasterFanatic Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I mentioned once in some other thread, but here it is again. If you are one of the people who isn't a member of any group (ACE, RideWorld, etc) and want to get into Solace, you can print out a one-time Solace Event Pass at: http://www.coasterfanatics.com/sec_members/member_voucher.asp
chaos Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I'll be going to the Solace on Saturday. I have a lot of things to do on Sunday so I can't go to Magic Mountain.
the_rock401 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Did the details for the Friday night ERT just get released on Wednedsay night (the timing of Chris' post)? I know it's the same as last year, but the flier didn't say anything about ERT. If that's the case, I can understand why people weren't going to come (too little notice to clear schedule). Paul "May still be heading to WCB" Miller
coaster1 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Friday Night ERT is only for hotel guests .. as I recall last year, they gave the ERT schedule at check-in cause I don't remember getting anything but the Saturday schedule in the mail.
PhishyBrewer Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 CHANGE OF PLANS I'm driving down to Knott's on Saturday morning. Staying at the Knott's hotel. Then going to SFMM on Sunday and then followed by Robb & Elissa's BBQ. Then driving home Sunday night. Can't wait to see everyone!!!
Jeezus Juice Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 ^OK, you all officially SUCK now!!! Have fun at the buffets while I'm stuck at work. I guess I know who my REAL friends are...my 12-pack of diet soda and the scary guy who mops the floors. At least they won't leave me! ...well, I guess I wouldn't mind mop guy ditching me for a while.

PhishyBrewer Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 ^Yeah... Screw Knott's, I'll be at Friday's up at the bar drinking if you need me.
DailyBugle_JL Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I, silent J, will be out there my first time ever to knotts. So dont know what to do once i get to the park(s). Cant wait to meet the rest of you TPR people. Then im heading to magic mountain on sunday to see if it really does suck. Last time I was at the mountain Superman had just opened at I was only able to ride 5 coasters that day, therefore im missing 11 other credits. It really has been a while.
PhishyBrewer Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 ^That's about the last time I was there also. I'm sure it's still crap though.

Coaster Palooza Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 ^Gyendolynne and I are going to be down there on Saturday. We're heading to Santa Monica on Saturday along with a few other stops. Sunday we'll be at the mountain. Hopefully we'll see you there.
PhishyBrewer Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Back to back weekends with Rick... I don't know man. That sounds a little "Brokeback Coaster" to me.
