Splash_Mountain
We were planning to go to WDW in May or April, but it looks like it is going to change back to DLR. Why the heck does it seem so expensive? We're flying WestJet, with passes and gift certificates and it's still like $5000 CDN for airfare.
sfmmFREAK
i wouldn't plan on eating there $12 for a plain burger that you can get at McDonalds for $3.50 !
Splash_Mountain
We haven't even got to that part. We have just tabulated air, getting that damn Kissimee house, and park hoppers.
Canadmos
$5000 for airfare from Calgary? Seems a bit expensive. How many people are flying? A quick search on www.travelocity.ca provided prices as low as $510 Cdn per person with one stop over. The dates I searched April 18th-25th. Not sure if this link will work... http://travel.travelocity.ca/flights/AirSearch.do?SEQ=11384865083780282006

My girlfriend and I drove from Calgary to Las Vegas in 3 days. It took my wife and I 3 days to get back Los Angeles is like 250 miles further. Or you could hit Silverwood, then Oaks in Portland, then SFMW or PGA, then SFMM on the way
maliboomer
$5000 Canadian seems like a morbidly obese number for flying to Orlando from Calgary. Sure there isn't a stopover in New Zealand, cause I looked on Expedia and they were inbetween $500 and $600?
DerekRx
Maybe he's looking at chartering his own 737 for the trip. That, or the value of the Canadian dollar has gone WAY down!

Sure there isn't a stopover in New Zealand, cause I looked on Expedia and they were inbetween $500 and $600? I'm guessing with a starting price of $500, you got booking fees, transfers, fuel surcharges and TAXES. That puts you at about $1000 each-probably a family of 5-there you go. $5000 would buy a whole two weeks drive down to LA, plus citypass (3 days DLR, 1 day USH, 1 day SD Zoo or WAP, 1 day Seaworld). Canadmos
On the travelocity link I posted up above, it says that the price included tax. Not sure about airport charges though, but I highly doubt the ticket would double in price from the advertised cost.
robbalvey
Yeah, your trip shouldn't cost that much at all! We're doing a "long weekend" in orlando in March and it's it's a fraction of that amount. Overall, WDW might be more expesive than doing DLR, but IMO, "you get what you pay for" --Robb
maliboomer
You never said five people! $5000 seems just a bit more then regular for five.
AznShortBoi8021
Perhaps he is flying first class. It should not cost $1000 CN for 1 person unless he/she is flying first class. I still think it would be worth it to go to WDW. That place is incredible!
CoasterFanatic
You need to work on your bargain hunting skills. Travelocity results - Calgary to MCO $351 per person on the first try
disneyfan1313
i wouldn't plan on eating there $12 for a plain burger that you can get at McDonalds for $3.50 ! I'm sorry - pet peeve. You can get a burger and fries (or carrots) at any counter service restaurant on property for around $6. Usually WDWs food and drink prices are less than fast food at most chain theme parks and most other group outings (sporting events, fairs, etc.). /rant over
MagnumForce
Or get a park hopper with dining that includes a snack, a counter meal with desert and a full sit down meal with appetizer desert you name it for about 37 dollars a day. You can combine teh items too for signature dining etc. I have spent 50 bucks on a single meal at the Rose and Crown by myself before. A great deal if you ask me. coaster_maniac
Yeah, Disney is really expensive..I'll admit. At times, it really pisses me off. But I'm going to agree with Robb when he said "You get what you pay for" Disney is a one-of-a-kind experience that can't be completely described or duplicated. Splash_Mountain
Sorry, 4 people in May. LOL.. Thanks for the all input. It's offical that it has been changed to DLR. Hopefully, Robb and Elissa can come hang with me, at Knott's or DLR. . I dunno, it just wouldn't get any cheaper. I think I got wonky with $5,000. Math Class is later on today anyway... . Oh, but first Commerical Foods. (I'm at school...)
What Now
The four of us went to WDW the package cost US$3,700. haiderodes
i wouldn't plan on eating there $12 for a plain burger that you can get at McDonalds for $3.50 ! Like someone mentioned earlier....Dude, its not $12 for a plain burger. That's true for some of the on property table service restaurants, but generally the counter service is comparable to other theme parks. Its around 6 to 8 bucks for a double bacon cheese burger and fries or a comparable meal with a drink. If you go to a place like Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland, Pecos Bills in Frontierland, or Electric Umbrella at Epcot, there is also a topping bar. Its all about doing research ahead of time. Its easy to spend money while there, but its also possible to make it stretch as well...just takes a little more work.
BarryH
I haven't read this book, but it might be worth checking out. It's called "Disney on a Dime." Here is the link: http://www.theotherorlando.com/disneyonadime.html
Leekak
Disney on a dime, if you buy the book your $12.95 out of pocket before you even get there. Strange but true.
