Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

We've gone opening day/weekend the last couple of years, for the most part the weather has been pretty poor which keeps the crowds away. If I remember correctly we had a snowfall less than a week before opening for 2013. Many people are busy processing season passes and waits are very minimal.

It's a great time to go the the park. Now if we would have a 70 degree sunny day, that could be another story.

I will be there, most likely in the afternoon shift, I plan on coming in early to get a couple rides in before I have to work

We've completely side tracked this thread for our personal use. Bwahahaha. See you there. Also, have we ever done a TPR meetup at the park? That would be really awesome.

^^I didn't think the line at AT was that long, but it was a long season so your probably right about the wait.

I am hoping that Boss has two trains for opening day, I should know before opening weekend and I will let you know. Hopefully the weather is nice for opening day.

Hopefully it's terrible so there aren't any lines. Sorry ride ops who have to stand outside...

Unless you're a person who feels the park owes them full staff and every ride open at all times, you understand that when opening in spring the park is missing quite a few college students who aren't available to work until May. Most early season visitors are passholders who understand that most coasters will be single train operation and some of the less popular rides and water rides may be closed due to understaffing also. You just go to be at your park because you missed it during the winter.

I'm fine with slower operations. I really despise the people who expect everything to always be perfect at every park. Although, I'll admit that one-train operations on longer rides such as the Boss (or any ride at Mt. Olympus...) do get quite annoying sometimes.

^Actually on opening day the only ride that is normally closed is Tidal Wave, because no one wants to get drenched this time of year Last year Excalibur was closed because they were installing new drive motors on it. Under staffing in the ride department doesn't happen often and when it does happen it is quickly remedied. One time I was acting Lead at American Thunder and we were under staffed and a manner came to the ride to help us get it open on time while we waited for more people. One train operation on opening day is because the other train is getting a complete overhaul, which happens every couple of years. The train on the ride was just disassembled and very carefully inspected and has worn parts replaced.

Interesting. I didn't know that was done. Do you know which rides (if any) will be down to one-train operations on opening day?
