robbalvey Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 So who here is getting Animal Crossing DS? I have already pre-oredered our copies. I hope that the wi-fi systems works a little better than it did on Mario Kart. From what I've been told though, as long as someone has their DS turned on and their "gate open" you can just wander into someone else's town. You don't have to "match up" like you do on Mario Kart. I plan on having my DS turned on most of the time while I'm work. Don't everyone come steal my fruit! --Robb
Wackyboxer Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 I'm definently planning on buying it in a few months (have to take care of some other obligations first). I'm also planning on buying the original since we're getting a GC for Christmas. I've only seen videos of the 2 games, but I think I'm going to love them both!!
CoasterCrazy Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 I thinking about buying it, I just wish that I had a wireless internet connection in my house. I would like to be able to play the wifi DS games online.
Erik Johnson Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Check out this fun review: http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3146050&did=1 Animal Crossing: Wild World NintendoDS Review from 1UP.com Though I am kinda bummed they did not include NES games or holidays this time. I kinda liked spending my Chirstmas hunting down the special Christmas items in the original game. Well, the online function I hope will be cool. I will just cut down your trees Robb instead of stealing your fruit... Oh, are you going to set a "requirement" on all those how visit? "Those who come visit Intamin, must help pluck weeds." I'm sure my GC Animal Crossing has a ton of weeds right now.
robbalvey Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 I thinking about buying it, I just wish that I had a wireless internet connection in my house. I would like to be able to play the wifi DS games online. You CAN actually get this cool little item which turns any non-wifi DSL/Cable modem connection into a wifi hub: Nintendo's Wi-Fi Adapter
Erik Johnson Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Here are a few commericals to tide you over until tomorrow. http://ds.advancedmn.com/media.php?gameid=35&medtype=2
CoasterCrazy Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 ^^It looks like I will be able to play some DS games online, thanks for the link!
Teddymonster Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 THIS is probably the one reason I am gonna snag a DS this x-mas. I loved AC on the Gamecube. It's just one of those games that's too awesome to be expressed in words...cause if you do it sounds boring. "You can mail stuff, plant things, talk to people, fish..." See what I mean?
Ed Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Can people from different countries hook up? If so I might consider buying a DS.
CoasterCrazy Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 ^The Mario Kart DS bundle is $149.99. http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/259765.asp
Homer Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Can people from different countries hook up? If so I might consider buying a DS. Ed, yes you can. Mario Kart DS has a worldwide selection on online play. As a matter of fact, recently I have played with a guy from Japan. Also, I played with Scott (from CoasterForce) recently on MKDS.
Teddymonster Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Man, we should have a TPR village. That'd be sweet. Too bad it's probably not possible to do that.
alpengeistdude321 Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 This sounds really cool!!! I loved Animal Crossing for Gamecube (it was even more addicting then the Sims at the time). I don't have a DS, but it sounds like a great addition to the video game collection for anyone who has one.
robbalvey Posted December 6, 2005 Author Posted December 6, 2005 I got my confirmation email from EB today that our copies have shipped! --Robb
Penguin Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I just returned home from getting my Animal Crossing DS game I loved the GC version so I can't wait to see how this compares. In fact, I am getting ready to go play it now. I'm looking forward to seeing what other people are doing on theirs. -Kristen

robbalvey Posted December 6, 2005 Author Posted December 6, 2005 ^ Awesome! Let us know what you think and tell us how the wi-fi option works! Here is the review from IGN: http://ds.ign.com/articles/673/673671p1.html
KBFXcelerator Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 I just got my copy. The wifi is pretty cool, you get to go to other peoples towns and mess with their crap. And post on their bulliten boards and stuff. Matt
coaster_type_of_person Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 How much is it, and how do you connect with other people?
SharkTums Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Ok, it's animal crossing friend code time!!! Here's mine: 5154-5677-0412 Post yours and let's start visiting! My name is Rodent, and my town is called Intamin.
robbalvey Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 In order to connect with other people you have to register each other's friend codes. Here is mine: Name: Robbish Town: TPRLand Code: 4853-9199-9686 --Robb
robbalvey Posted December 7, 2005 Author Posted December 7, 2005 I hooked up with a couple of people from AC Forums (http://acforums.megadoomer.com/viewforum.php?f=72) and it worked quite well! I had three people in my town. I even found the chat feature! You all gotta get this!!! --Robb
