VinTheAttendant
^I know what you mean with putting stuff in cubbies only to turn around and find people in your seats. When I went to Quassy, a bunch of kids from different groups had a hard time figuring out how the individualized rows of the Wooden Warrior worked. The first time happened with a camp group of 10 year olds all wearing yellow shirts. The moment the gates opened, six kids in one row ran as fast as they could and filled up half of the train before the other two rows could take their seat. Apparently, neither of the ride workers saw the incident and the other two groups were pretty passive. Half a day later, same ride. A group of four kids want the luxury of sitting together as a group, but without having to let people go in front of them to make it work. Meanwhile, the camp group in front of them (oddly enough, also wearing yellow) worked hard to fairly get all eight of their group onto the same train. So, air gates open up, the impatient kids run in and suddenly mess up the cycle of the camp group. This time, the employees did catch them forced them back in line. Honestly, I knew how air gates worked since I was little, and I didn't need anyone to tell me how they worked. If you can't figure out how they work, then take a hint from the five or six trains of people ahead of you!
MrSum1_55
One note: if you plan on going to Knott's on a wednesday toward the end of summer, only stick to the large rides that little kids aren't tall enough to ride. Here is why: Arriving at the parking lot, I saw about 30 school buses in just one area. Then, I knew that day was going to be fun. These youth groups are usually under supervision of a counceler, who, I believe, only made things worse. First off, these groups (under total supervision) would stand at a ride entrance for about 10 minutes, blocking anyone trying to enter. Oh, well. At least we now know their entire group is tall enough to ride, right? It is when you get to the front of the line that you realize that they were not checking heights at all, but rather simply finding out who wants to ride. Then, for the millionth time, the ride ops have to open restraints, check the kid's height, find out he is not tall enough, relock restraints, recheck, etc. Anyone who has ever been to Knott's knows that this is not something ride crews do best (or fastest) Like mentioned above, none of these kids understand the concept of air gates, and their instructers were usually too busy texting their boyfriends to explain the concept to them. These kids were line jumpers as well. Their instructers not only let them do it, but also cut the lines with them! After trying to get in some credits with frustration, I was able to get several repeat rides on all the large coasters, thanks to none of these kids being in any lines for XLR8R, GR, and SB. XLR8R and SB had waits under 15 minutes all day, while GR's wait never exceeded 30 minutes. Stick to these rides, and nothing else.

Nah there are also 8th graders that have to go there for a physics field trip every year around that time. Angry_Gumball
Yea, I find it quite annoying when a group/family block ride entrances to measure their child...here goes... (attempting one of those lightbulb-like jokes here): How many 'jeeps' does it take to measure a child? All of them! Yea, I know, that was a bad one, but it's true in every way. Another common thing I'm glad the ride attendants called out on was people in line for Drop Tower...let's say they're in the slot for Cabin #4. Once the air gates open, they make way around the entire tower and attempt snagging someone else's seat. That's when I suddenly heard over the loudspeaker: "Please go to your assigned cabin, don't go running around the tower to find a seat!" Lastly, people who leave their valuables on the ground in the walkway around Drop Tower...I was inches from stepping on someone's iPhone when they set it down right in the spot where I was going to be walking through. That would have been their problem. Typically, on this kind of ride, I try to set my stuff aside out of the walkway...typically on the outside perimeter of the tower area...not in a spot where my cup will get knocked over, trip on my bag, or step on my hat. squirmy_wormy
I was at CGA with Angry Gumball getting ready to get off Vortex. When we were waiting for the train in front of us to dispatch I heared this woman behind me say to her friends "They need to make this ride more stable." Really?? More stable?? On Drop Tower, this group of young teens ran all the way around the tower to find a seat rather than go onto their assigned row. After the ride was done the ride operator stated "please go to your assigned cabin. Do not run around the tower in search of a seat." On White Water Falls this kid told his group that there was room for three more people in his row when the ride operator clearly stated four riders per row. rcdude
I don't pay too much attention to random stuff GP members say, and I don't really care about it. Usually, they are either misinformed, guessing, or are so far off that I can't think of anything to say. However, there are several things they tend to do that annoy me. Here are the top five (in no particular order): -Delaying the dispatch of a ride or interrupting the cycle due to any of the following: not putting loose articles in the cubbies, taking too long to place articles in the cubbies, attempting to take seats that are not available, arguing with ride operators due to being rejected (can't fit, you/your child is too short, etc.), bringing a camera or any other loose article on board and requiring the operators to stop the ride so it can be retrieved. -Blocking the queue line entrance because they're not sure who's riding, and not advancing when it moves a significant distance (not several feet, but like an entire switchback) because they're not paying attention. -Excessive make-out sessions in line (I don't mind when people are hugging or kissing a bit, but some couples do things I wouldn't consider appropriate in a family park). -Large groups that stop in the middle of the walkway to watch something or consult each other/the park map. If you're going to stop, kindly step to the side, please. Same goes for those who spread out across the walkway and make it difficult for others to go in the opposite direction without breaking through their line. -Getting to the front of a food line and having no clue what you want to order, especially when the menu board is easily visible and you've been in line more than 5 minutes. Okay, maybe its more than five, but they're all related in some way.
Angry_Gumball
A new one I'm starting to hear... a lot. "The Haunt," in reference to CGA's Haunt (or any Halloween Haunt event). Just realized...the GP really should be calling rides that actually have "The" in it's name, "The The (ride's name)" so The Grizzly should then be "The The Grizzly"

XYZ
On Flight Deck @ CGA (Of course) there was a long line for the front of around 30+ people and in all the other rows there was an average of 2 people. This one person walked by me saying "The front is over rated". Tell that to the 30 standing in line for the front, oh wait she did. 300th post! XYZ
I totally forgot this and was reminded in the Kings Dominion Thread about ride ops, but this is the biggest GP moment I ever saw and everyone should see how insane it was and of course it's in CGA. I was waiting in line for Flying Eagles and I was told by the ride op I would be the last person to ride it since it was closing time. So, the ride op put the garbage cans in front of the line indicating it's closed. Then, these small kids came running up passing the garbage cans and came up behind me. I told them that the park is closed and told them to turn back. Then, the mean mother came up and told me, "They can go on the ride". I told the mother that the park is closed and they cannot ride. Of course she argued against my statement and the ride op saw what was going on, so he approached the woman telling her that the ride is closed. She resisted again and I told the woman that it was park rules and the ride op "inspired" by my statement told her that he isn't making the rules, just enforcing them. The mother said,"They're just little kids, let them on". The ride op supposedly called for "back up" as another CGA employee came up. They starting arguing and the woman said,"I want to talk to the manager". I went on the ride with some 4 others with around 4 flyers with nobody on them as the little kids of course weren't let on. The mother knew she lost, so she took off and moved the garbage cans on purpose away from the ride enterance and more kids went in line not knowing that the ride is closed. GP... Life would be boring without them.

Wolf whistles, thumbs-up, suggesting acts to perform, complimenting them on their performance... yeah, I know that everything I listed is a dick move, but so is devouring the face of your significant other in public. That's what your car is for, people; queues are NOT forums to express how much you love the taste of your bf/gf's face.

This reminds me of one time when I worked on Mind Eraser at SFNE. The queue for the SLC is a little funky. First you pass under an archway, take a sharp left, walk inside the queue house and then immediately turn right. I was on height check duty one evening when closing time rolled around and I was told to put the chains up. There are two chains, one under the first archway and one in the queue house immediately after the sharp turn. After the chains go up, I begin sweeping the queue while I wait for the employees in the station to finish giving the remaining guests their ride. After about 5 minutes of sweeping, three young adults jump over the first chain and burst out running. Unfortunately, they were not aware that there was a chain in the queue house. The first man rounded the corner, flew into the queue house, immediately turned right, and *WHAM!* He ran into that chain, his head and legs flew forward and immediately flew back where he crashed to the ground completely winded. He hit the chain so hard that the hook snapped clean off. I felt sorry for the guy, but it would not have happened if he stopped at the first chain. squirmy_wormy
Try being in the wave pool at CGA and have GP swim under the area roped off. They keep doing this despite being whistled at by the life guards. Ummm.... yeah.... did it ever occur to them there is a reason as to why the area has been roped off in the first place I have also seen the gp hang onto the walls in the deeper parts of the pool. Now common sense would tell you that this is something that you do not do. Especially if the life guards need to jump in during an emergency. I have also seen a kid do the dead man's float while exiting the lazy river. At first I thought something honestly happened to him until his mother told him to get up and come on out. How stupid is that?!?

Angry_Gumball
^That...is what I call pure annoyance. Goes along with teenage girls screaming at the top of their lungs when you barely start climbing the lift. Also funny how the GP automatically associates roller coasters with "ZOMG ACCIDENT CHECK DIIS OUTT!1!" And off topic...anyone else notice the person who looks just a wee bit big for the ride? Looks like the restraint is barely holding her in! Never say Intamin's "not large proportion friendly!"

Angry_Gumball
A GP came up to us when TPR member ABW had his camcorder out waiting in line for Demon as I was looking at some of the footage he got during TPR weekend. The GP says "Hey, are you going to video tape this ride? You'll get a lot of hits on Youtube." Quickly we told her "it's against the park rules and it's unsafe to do so." I wouldn't want someone's camcorder to come loose and smack me in the face, and I'm sure they really wouldn't either. Update, a new one that had me nearly out of my chair laughing. The other night my neighbor posts on my wall as she saw that I was at CGA that day: "hay are u going to check out that bigger and better roller coaster???" My response: "Which coaster?" (puzzled) *a couple days pass* She IM's me on Facebook asking me the same question and I give same response. Then...here's where it begins. Friend: "great America its going to be the biggest ever they said" Me: "I wish they were getting a coaster where did you hear this" Her: "on the news" Me: "really I knew about a wooden coaster a while back that has not happened yet and has not been announced as things are still up in the air with it Are you talking about Six Flags and their new Superman coaster?" Her: "ya this one didnt look likw wood thewy had a amazing show of it on the news i was feeling woozy just by looking at the drop hight" Me: "You mean this? *Gives her link to SFDK's S:UF video*" Her: "ya that was it i recognize it by thew super S behind it hthen its 6 flags" Had me hoping for a second that just maybe she came across some leaked info from LA Times Was worth the laugh!
