Real Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 (edited) Well, we all know its going to be a Screamin Swing. I wouldnt bet theres more but the optimist in me hopes Im wrong with it "just" being a Swing. Either way, meh. Just news. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun_online/blog/index.cfm?entry=f7010ebb-c463-4e15-9641-8e7be90a1660 Edited October 13, 2005 by Real
PhishyBrewer Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Someone please kill Tony and Tyler. It is the dumbest marketing scheme Cedar Fair has ever come up with.
DRWP2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Yea Cedar Points blog is pretty dumb, they just tried to copy Holiday World without much success. Oh well, watch this announcement not be about the ride, it will be about something stupid. Hopefully their adding something else and not having all this hype for one swing.
Real Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun%5Fonline/blog/ Something tells me that taking out White Water Landing is definatly cause for something bigger than just a Screamin Swing...I hope.
CoasterFanatic Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 So long White Water Landing. A park without a flume, just isn't a park to me. // self confessed log flume lover
PhishyBrewer Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 How would you like to have the very last ride on White Water Landing along with your pals Tony and Tyler? You have to be freak'n kidding me... right?
Real Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 I knew youd be the first to sign up Wally
socalMAN123 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 That looked like a fun ride! Oh well, I'll never get the chance to ride it unless I enter that essay contest to ride it with those people. *shudders* ---Brent 8)
Chris Benvenuto Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Rest in peace White Water Landing, I'm going to do the contest and get the last ride on the classic flume.
coasterfreak101 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 White Water Landing is the boat ride, right? Isn't the log flume Snake River Falls? They better not take out Snakey! That ride was great!
PhishyBrewer Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I knew youd be the first to sign up Wally I'm typing up my essay right now. I so want to meet Tony & Tyler
DerekRx Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 You're gonna have to beat me, Wally. I just pulled up my 6th grade essay on "Abe Lincoln, an important President". All I need to do is change every Abe Lincoln reference to White Water Landing and change Important President to Classic Log Flume. It got me an A in Mr. Smith's history and its gonna get me a ride with Tony and Tyler too!
PhishyBrewer Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 ^LMAO!!!!!! Well if you meet Tony and Tyler, just kick them in the throat for me.
CoasterFanatic Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 White Water Landing is the boat ride, right? Isn't the log flume Snake River Falls? They better not take out Snakey! That ride was great! Snake River Falls would probably be best categorized as a "Shoot the Chute". White Water Landing isn't really a "Log Flume" either, I believe it was sold under the name "Hydro Flume". Other examples can be found at Magic Mountain and Hersheypark. In reality, Cedar Point hasn't had a log flume since they dismantled the Mill Race (One of the first) many years ago.
MagnumForce Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 there won't be anythign in WWL's location next year. Also expect the Waveswinger to be moving and the frontier carousel building to be razed, oh and I hope you aren't too attached to Cadillac Cars, on and Thunder Canyons queue will be MUCH smaller as well. By 2007 Frontier Town will be quite different. They are slowly rebuilding the more dated areas of the park. It started with Oceana and it now continues with Frontier Town.
Real Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 ^^Ted - However, I do think Raptor for Mill Race was a GOOD decision. ^Magnum - I didnt think we'd see anything new for this year. If we do, its a definite suprise but I had this feeling this was 2007 prep. I just still hope its something really crazy.
chauncey Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I just still hope its something really crazy. Like a new flume!?!? As I said over at the CoasterFanatics website, "No flume, no me!" What kind of park doesn't have a flume?!?! Not one any sane person would visit! Stupid Cedar Point!
PhishyBrewer Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I didnt think we'd see anything new for this year. If we do, its a definite suprise but I had this feeling this was 2007 prep. I just still hope its something really crazy. Crazy... huh? How about a coaster that takes you from Castaway Bay to Cedar Point. Now that's crazy! Sorry... just being stupid.
PhishyBrewer Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Press Release On Sunday, October 30th, Cedar Point will close its gates for the final time for the 2005 season. Sunday, Oct 30 will also be the last day of operation for the park's White Water Landing thrill ride. Built in 1982, White Water Landing simulates a wilder river ride down an Appalachian River. This action-packed water ride sends its passengers through four challenging water conditions, from meandering past a lagoon to cascading over a 50'foot -hit waterfall. When it opened, white water landing was the longest hydro-flume ride in the world. in 24 seaons, White Water Landing has given more than 28 milion guests a wet and scenic ride. The removal of White Water Landing will provide land for future expansion. Just IM'd to me by a member of Cedar Point management.
MagnumForce Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Well we are definitely getting a Screamin' Swing next year, and after riding Dorney's that definitely is not a bad thing. It will be located right between Snake and CCMR's exit. I have always been rather meh about WWL anyway, the best flume in the park was Mill Race and Shoot the Rapids. Mill Race was replaced with somethign infinitly better, Raptor, Shoot the Rapids was replaced with a mediocre Arrow Hydroflume.
SharkTums Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Hopefully they'll get a big water coaster for 2007! I think a Poseidon would go great there!
MagnumForce Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 A Frontier Themed water coaster especially, but as much as I hope for something like that, I don't think that is what's going there. Cedar Point has dissapointed me too much lately to put in something original and un biggest tallest fastest crappiest.
SharkTums Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Yeah...but I can hope...and I think it would be a good idea if you're taking out a water ride...plus it would let them smack down SFMM for number of coasters again.
MF310ryb Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I bet they are putting the rumored flyers in next year to beat SFMM by one coaster if they market them as two separate.
Scaparri Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Yeah, it's pretty shady to tear out White Water Landing and only put in a Swing. I'm not surprised about the Swing, because it was rumored all summer, but it's just disappointing. Kind of surprising that CP is going to go 4 years without a new coaster. Very uncharacteristic.
