This comes after reading Token Yankee Guy's Trip Report from dorney, and I got a kick out of the trash cans pic. I looked through my photos and was able to spot 31 (31!!!) trash cans in one photo:

(Click the image for the full-size version to see them more closely)

My challenge is to find more trash cans in one photo.. so Go!

Disney did a study a number of years ago and they concluded that the average distance a patron would walk with a piece of trash before dropping it to the groud was around 12 feet. Cedar Fair just really took it to heart I guess...

Plus the more cans you have the less likely they are to get overfilled.

Well think about it? Their are some people in this world who are lazy or don't give a ****, so they just drop their trash on the ground and expect someone else to pick it up. The more trash cans their are you can then remove the chance of someone throwing crap on the ground. Plus it prevents the chance of them overflowing on busy days (ya dorney has them just not as often as other parks).

I mean personally I won't ever throw my trash on the ground at parks but i've at some parks i've been temped because I actually had to hunt down a trash can...I rather have too many than not enough.

Also Great Adventure really isn't much different these days....

The guy who sold the trash cans to Cedar Fair parks is probably very, very rich now.

You've always wondered why Cedar Fair parks are so clean. Now you know. And that they have a ton of sweeps around. You don't see that at Six Flags!

Your totally right about the guy who sold the trash cans...you have no idea how expensive a trash can actually is. At my park I've seen the catalogues with prices and almost fell out of my chair. Everything that you think wouldn't be that expensive, in the amusement park industry its expensive.

Funny that you mentioned this, because a friend of mine from HS told me that if you go and drop a piece of trash at Disney, and watch it from a distance, that it'll be picked up in 5 mins. Any validity to this?

Well, that sounds like it could have some truth to it, I think I'd totally believe it

One of my favorite games to play this summer while working at CP was "Count the number of trash cans you can see from one vantage point while working." So much fun!

If anyone gets a chance to head out to Cedar Point during the winter, check out the inside area of Mean Streak. Mountains upon mountains of trash cans.
