I love pie Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I haven't ridden either one, so I can't judge, but what do you think is more insane/better?
Superbatboy Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Between those two elements, RT hill wins IMO. Though overall I think Skyrush is the better ride, the airtime is otherworldly. Edited December 17, 2015 by Superbatboy
michaellynn4 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 You're talking about my two favorite coasters here, so it's like picking your favorite child. If I had to choose, El Toro's RT hill, but it's close.
boldikus Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 This is a tough one. First off, there is no such word as "insaner". LOL But yeah, I don't think its fair to compare the drop of one coaster to the airtime hill of another, as insane as the RT hill is. The first drops on both provide a frightening, extreme pop of ejector air when sitting in the back of the train, though Skyrush has a bit of strong floater air over the crest and then a violent pop a third of the way down. The RT hill on El Toro I feel could more easily be compared to the 2nd airtime hill on Skyrush, in terms of the sensation. But I think the reason why Toros RT hill is a big deal is because of what comes before it. Extreme airtime on the camelbacks, but then on the return its more of a floater air over the drop following the turnaround and the speed hump past the station and then BAM! RT hill. Even after dozens of laps and knowing its coming its still a somewhat terrifying sensation. The first two airtime hills on Skyrush are the opposite - you're still catching your breath after the drop when you're immediately tossed skyward once, and then again (and again and again). There is no breather on Skyrush. * Note: I'm just talking about back seat rides. I only rode Skyrush once in the front. Toro a bunch but I don't prefer it.
A.J. Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Honestly, I think a fairer comparison would be between El Toro's Rolling Thunder hill and Skyrush's last airtime hill where it's running directly alongside Comet's turnaround, the hill after the twisty one. Front seat, hands up, legs out over that hill is positively unreal. EDIT: The small but deadly hill over the pathway that's to the right in this photo:
Paradox Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I've only been on El Toro, but that airtime hill is insane. Catches me off guard every time.
