According to the park CEO It appears Fårup Sommerland in Denmark has plans to expand its S&S wooden coaster Falken.

Here's part of the roughly translated article (link to the original below)

"When the track was originally built, there were height restrictions imposed by local legislative bodies. This has ensured that we have the lift hill 20 meters but could go no higher"

Fårup wants to extend the wooden roller coaster. After years of negotiation and consultation with the local authorities the park has reached an agreement to relax the height restrictions. Once this is fully approved it will increase the lift hill by 10 meters. Also, they will sacrifice some of the existing car park to extend the length of the track.

If all goes to plans add new props and possibly add a second train.

The plans are in an advanced stage, the park is now negotiating with some builders willing or able to implement these enhancements. S & S Sansei has closed its wooden coaster section so Farup can not rely on the original builder of Falken.

It has been mentioned elsewhere that the guy who designed Falken now works for RMC but thats just wishful thinking at this stage.

^Not that I can think of. Certain elements being modified yes, but not expanding a wooden coaster by making it taller/longer. Sounds weird indeed, I would think the money would be put to better use investing in new attractions.

It would be awesome to give this coaster the RMC treatment!!! Love Farup Sommerland but Falken had become nearly unrideable on our trip last year.

Im pretty sure Falken was the coaster that had the amazing juddering lift hill as well. I think it was Falken I had that allergic reaction that day too

Has a wooden coaster ever been modified as a wooden coaster in that manor before???

Big Dipper at Blackpool Pleasure Beach got its layout extended in 1963 and thats the closest thing I could think that even comes close to it.

Kennywood's Thunderbolt used to be a smaller coaster called the Pippin. It's certainly enjoyed far more success in this form than it ever could have in its original form.

Maybe I'm tired or just not thinking (probably the latter), but I saw the subtext for the thread and initially thought it meant 10m of length rather than height. My first thought was "what's the point?" What they're actually doing makes a lot more sense and I wish them the best!

No your not the only one, I did think it was a bit strange when I first read it but once I actually opened the thread and read it it made a lot more sense.

Happy to hear this news as I really enjoyed Falken when visiting Farup Sommerland. I just hope they also give the ride some TLC on the turns as well as it was really brutal going through those turns.
