amarci87 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 hey guys, being new to most of this i have a question about the six flags season pass. i am a little confused about the pricing. why is it so cheap??? lol. i am heading to the US later in the yr and looking at going to at least 2 or 3 parks, so would i be better off just purchasing a season pass than general admission each time i go to a park? thanks guys
larrygator Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 hey guys, being new to most of this i have a question about the six flags season pass. i am a little confused about the pricing. why is it so cheap??? Because the SF business model is to sell as many passes as possible while sacrificing the quality of the customer. They hope to make the money on the back end through parking, food and drinks every time a season pass holder visits.
KBrylczyk Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 ^ What he said. Basically envision the worst possible business model, then add rollercoasters. That's Six Flags.

Also the difference between regular and preferred you just pay to difference. Depending on which park you buy it from, It will pay for itself with 1 visit. Also if you pay with Discover (Not spamming!), You can get 5% off the cost. You can also get into some parks earlier with the Discover/Gold Pass line.
amarci87 Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 so let me get this straight, they make the tickets ridiculously cheap, yet slug you inside the park with food/drinks, merchandise etc? isn't that what all the parks do? lol. I am in 2 minds about visiting Six Flags parks because i have been hearing a lot of negative reviews about the business but yet they have such wonderful coasters.
yankeeman311 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 The goal is to make the season pass more appealing because a single day ticket is $70 in GAdv but the season pass is only about $5 more. They want to make money on food, souvenirs, etc. Plus a friend told me that a bigger percentage of passholders than you would expect only go to the park once and don't even get the value for the pass. Plus having a season pass definitely motivates some people to go back to the park that normally wouldn't.

Nrthwnd Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 When I had a all inclusive pass to our World's Fair in 1986, I ended up visiting the fairgrounds 56 times in all of my season's pass. And I would certainly be the same, if I had a DL pass as well. I would eat and buy there, too. It's all part of the Disney experience, isn't it?
theymitbgi Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Where are these charity ran amusment/theme parks with free admission, free food, free parking and great rides? I need to move there.
amarci87 Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 What parks are you planning to visit? Out of Six Flags it will only be Magic Mountain and Great Adventure. BTW, how do you get the users name in the quotation box when using quotes? lol

I know for a fact that the 10 min in the park early at SFGadv is a complete JOKE. they let you in 10 min early and 0 rides are running. how about take a page from Cedar Point or Disney and open up a hr early and have some rides open at least. and when I went this past sunday, all the non season pass holders just lifted the ribbon up and walked in 10min early too and security couldn't stop the mass people from doing it.

Six Flags has a lot of room for improvement but you should absolutely visit the parks. If you're expectations are so low that you feel like they're not worth going to then you'll be pleasantly surprised with the parks themselves. Besides the coasters, the parks are far from great but they're still a lot of fun to visit... and the coasters are amazing. Please note that I'm not talking about Six Flags America. Six Flags America is a horrible excuse for a park and you should never go there unless you're credit whoring.
