thrillrider
Click here for photos of Pipe Scream: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=67901 I'm going to try to make this as brief as possible, so here ya go. The pros... The new gemini midway looks amazing The ride operations are the best they have ever been this early in the season that I can remember. The entire park looks great. The new magnum paint job and decals on the trains look very good. The new petting farm is a nice upgrade from what it used to be. The dino trail is now free with a platinum pass. The cons.... I hate to say it, but I was disappointed in the chickie and petes restaurant(tried it twice this weekend) The food and prices were bad. The food locations had huge lines that were moving at a snails pace and the staff seemed untrained in a lot of instances The free refill cups were not set up at a lot of the food locations. I was told at several different locations that it was not programmed into the register yet. The same can be said for the 10 percent discount at retail locations in the park. The discount only worked at 1 out of 4 locations I was at. On sunday, I couldn't help but notice the amount of people that had the fast lane bands, even though the park was dead....Everything was a near walk on all day. I am not sure if it's just me, but I always look at the crowds in a park before dropping big coin on a fast lane band. In some cassis, the fast lane people were waiting longer than the main line. Onto some pictures and new improvements(besides the new gemini midway) the park has made. Very good weather and crowds for opening day The new gemini midway was a hit. The re-themed wilderness express making a run. Lots of changes in this area of the park this year No more lolly swings Frog hoppers new home and name The camp snoopy theater now has shade covers Wilderness runs new entrance looks nice They even have a nice area for parents to chill out while there kids ride. The shooting gallery is now a mini arcade with a new small shooting game. They were actualy still putting it together Lots of new wood on mean streak, but it did not help much. Nothing going on here The fire is back! Skyhawk was running both sides again This was on the ground next to skyhawk...perhaps the reason why it was down last year? Beer and wine on the frontier trail this year...I love it $9 for fries? They are good, but not that good. I gave this place 2 chances this weekend. They failed me both times. The food was meh....the prices were high for what you got, and the service was horrid. It should not take 20 min for a server to come and get your drink order. They moved this ride from the ex gemini childrens area, up to the kiddy land section in the front of the park. Im glad they saved this ride as it is uniqe. Wicked twister footers are a little sketchy looking, and don't even get me started on the seat belt situation on the ride. The dinosours were having fun Now that its free, we decided to check it out Noted... Also noted... Not sure what was going on with these 2 dinos, but they were morphing out of the ground. One of the best parts of the trail, is the views of millennium force Since its now free with your platinum pass, there are actualy people on the trail. In the middle of the trail, they have a dino dig site for the kiddies I wonder what this could be for? That is one big crap cutter! I eat you millennium force.....nom...nom...nom Edited May 12, 2014 by robbalvey

The new fiberglass and decals on magnum Is this new? If you need some of this, it can be found in the town hall musium Along with this picture that will give you nightmares for months They also have this cool gemini photo spot Power tower The petting farm has a new name and a LOT more animals Much better than before My daughter seemed to really enjoy it Snake river falls was not filled up yet The old paddlewheel prop buildings are still there Cedar point is copying Disney now. coasterbill
Are the belts any shorter than they were last year on Wicked Twister? I'm thin as a rail and I barely fit (not like I had to squeeze or anything but I had to pull the restraint down all the way which I never have to do)... what are they thinking with this ride? JWAddington
I believe that is a new sign going over the path of Camp Snoopy! Looks good....great pictures! I've been hearing nothing but complaints about the seat belts on Wicked Twister.
Hoppy
I had a blast yesterday at the Point! Walk-on Dragster and MF?!?! Longest line was 15 mins @ Maverick since a girl got stuck in the station and maintenance had to come rip the OTSR out... I really liked the '2017 teaser' on the new TV's... They've started adding big blue footers over by Gemini. Looks like it's the SlingShot and should add to the already cool midway alongside pipe scream. I kept thinking about bigger, better things but they wouldn't start building something BIG for 2017 in 2014 ... heh
simon8899
It is sometimes difficult to predict crowds on simply looking at them. Was at Parque Warner and dispite the huge crowds at entry coasters were a walk-on nearly all day. The twens were mostly entertaining themselves by drinking beer and getting soaked at waterrides - and so the Fastpass was of value afterall as on a 35 °C day the flume and shoot-the-chute had 30+ minutes lines and I could get a cooling without waits... I'm thin as a rail and I barely fit (not like I had to squeeze or anything but I had to pull the restraint down all the way which I never have to do)... what are they thinking with this ride? Wicked twister is one of those rides I may hit only once or twice a year. I know that when I rode it last summer, I had no issue fitting in the ride but it was a little more "snug" than I remember. I have not gained any weight over the last year, so that brings me to the conclusion that the belts "have" shrunk. I always ride in the last row, so I could not tell you about the entire train. The ride was having a ridiculous amount of people doing the walk of shame in the short time I was in line. More than I have ever seen on ANY ride before. thrillrider
A few more pictures. I never noticed this sign at the train station. Opening day glitches White water landing remenits. Red garter menu has shrunk in size, but has gone up in price over the past few years. Looks like some kind of new building being built next to gatekeeper. Still a fun ride. New..... Old. What colors do you like better? Anybody know what this was for? I am afraid to ask what he is unleashing. I thought this was a family park? These were cute, but they kept trying to sell me insurance. The whole area has been revamped. I love mine rides station at night with the yellow lights. That's it for this trip report. I leave you with a shot of my daughter passed out on the drive home after a busy weekend at the park.

BridgeMan
Great photos! The window you're asking about is where the Space Spiral main controls were. The window on the roof was so you could see the top of the tower, useful when parking it halfway up at night.

jetsplumber
Yea, I'm curious as to what I seemed to miss on the TVs about 2014. the only thing I caught from the TV's on opening day were a few trivia questions. the weight of one of the coasters lift chain. what year cedar point opened. after that I just tuned them out. Philrad71
Disappointed in the beer selection at the Red Garter again this year. If I read that right, it's Stella, Bud, Summer Shanty, Blue Moon and Bud Lite? Uggghhh...why no Great Lakes Brewery when it's so close???
thrillrider
^ That would be nice, but at least they have Blue Moon.
Philrad71
^ Not a fan of the Belgian White Ales, but Blue Moon has certainly developed it's share of fans. Now that I think about it, the little wine and beer bar across from the laser/dance show had Great Lakes in bottles last year... although it will set you back close to $6 for a 12 oz beer. Guess it's still better than paying $8.50 for a 16 oz. Bud though!
thrillrider
There is also this new place on the frontier trail that may carry it.
