larrygator Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) One of the exciting new installations that has not gotten much attention this off season is Roar-o-Saurus. While it is only 40 feet tall and 37 MPH and classified as a family coaster, but if the coaster is anything like its cousin at Quassy enthusiasts will be pleased also. The park is hoping to have the ride open when the park opens for the season on May 24th. The attached video shows some graphics of the ride and gives a background on the coaster's story line http://www.wmur.com/news/new-roller-coaster-at-story-land-garners-national-headlines/25702708 Edited May 11, 2014 by larrygator
Philrad71 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 This looks like a great family coaster and if it is anything like the one at Quassy, it's sure to be a big hit with enthusiasts! I may have to take a detour the next time I drive up to Maine to see the relatives.
Canobie Coaster Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I'm really looking forward to this coaster. Story Land has some great theming and the park, while geared for kids, has such a great atmosphere. This coaster should give the park the major attraction it needs. It's the perfect height to be kid-friendly, but if it's like Wooden Warrior, this coaster will have some serious air-time and will be one of my favorite coasters.
larrygator Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) ^I really liked the park on my one visit. I would love for this to me as good as Wooden Warrior as I'm not impressed by the wooden coasters located northeast of Connecticut. Edited May 11, 2014 by larrygator
burningstroller Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 The only problem is the "creep factor". It's a legitimate kids park.
cal1br3tto Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Sounds like a great addition to the park and an awesome little coaster. As an enthusiast, it's hard to make this a high priority when I've ridden Wooden Warrior, but then again, how many people would even consider flying from one Portland to the other Portland for this? I feel like I should work it into my next trip to the area though!
Nrthwnd Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 As I grow older, I do appreciate these new, smaller wooden coasters popping up all over the world. Works for me, heh.
ScreaminNewEngland Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 If only wildcat stayed open til June. Skiing and roar-sourus! A bigger, longer version of this would be great at canobie!
Mrlittle Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 This coaster is running Timberliners, right? Correct link
CPSFMMCW Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 2014 must be the year of insane looking trains! Medusa's, Goliath's, Roar-o-saurus's, Harry Potter & Forbidden Journey...the list just goes on and on!
cal1br3tto Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I know that's not the first we've seen of the train front, but I am just struck by how awesome it looks. Way to go, Gravity Group, Story Land, and whoever-all else was involved in designing it!
