Nrthwnd
Now that the shocked reaction, to the previous post, has subsided.... Here's the start of what I gots in Scandi. Cups and drink containers a-plenty! One with ice cream in it, the other with.....nothing in it. TOTAL SHOCK AND DISMAY - eh, it was on a tour, right? I think I got a pretty good haul on this one. Not really knowing when it was going to happen. Here's a group pic. More to follow. Later. Like I said, cups and containers a-plenty! (EDIT TO ADD: Sorry about the repeated photo. Silly me.) Nrthwnd
Before I finally get into the 'haul' from the Scandi Tour this past summer, I found a mug I had forgotten to show here. Well, now's the time. This is from Tokyo Disneyland, 2011. And this is the first time I saw Philharmagic, and in Japanese, too! I also bought the attraction's t-shirt and CD soundtrack, again in Japanese lol. Pardon the darkness of the shots. I lightened the first one, so that you could see the whole mug, better. The mug. I get a kick out of the little Sorcerer's Apprentice cap on the lid-cover. Closeup of the front of it. Jasmine and Aladdin there. There's Donald. And the Mick down below him. Where it's from, and who made it. JC and me in front of PhilharMagic, TDL 2011
Nrthwnd
Two more mugs to show, before I start the Scandi bunch. These I have picked up in various places, with business logos, event logos, and attraction logs, too. These two I especially like, and always have. I think it's because they were actually my first two such plastic mugs to get. Works for me, lol! The one on the left comes from the now-closed Movieland Wax Museum, near Knott's. I got it, when me and my mom went to the parks, at Easter (!) in 1963. (And it was just as hell with the crowds, as it is now during that time period. The decades never change it.) The one on the right was from the then newly opened Monterey Bay Aquarium, Spring 1985. We drove down the coast from San Franciso a bit, and made Monterey our destination stop, toured the aquarium (the second floor was still being built!) with that gorgeous two-story Kelp Forest tank. Then, we turned around and headed back to SF. Movieland Trivia: Same tour as ^ The Aquarium, we also went to LA, did the parks, and went back to the Wax Museum And went thru their newest attraction inside, The Black Box. And I swear this had to be one of the earliest Haunt Walk-thrus ever created in an existing attraction/park! Walking through sets of recent movies (Halloween?), stuff was said, stuff happened, people screamed (we did too), and we moved on, lol. It was great! Good sturdy plastic. And they've lasted! And you can stack them. Kind of. (o;
Nrthwnd
Well, it's been over a year and I still haven't posted those photos of my TPR Scandi Tour (2014) Collection. Until now. With my impending collection of the recent Paris-Amsterdam Tour I took with David, the need to catch up was obviously there. And so... These were the first two "name Coke bottles" I ever saw (among hundreds of other name bottles), on the TPR Scandi Tour (2014). Now they're everywhere in the world. But back then, these were My Very First. (o: And of course I had to find ones with David's and my name on them. The beverage containers from Tivoli Gardens. The middle container had a wee little soldier that is part of Tivoli's LOGO, from time to time. The left cup was celebrating the 100th Birthday of it's great wooden coaster, the right one a general cup. Back of both cups. And I don't read Danish. (o; The cups CAN be returned in a snazzy upright recycling machine, like this one. And you get a bit of change back for your effort. Very cool! A water bottle from Sarkanniemi. How do I know this? A bit of Tornado on the left of it; the name of the park on the right of it. A neat little cup from Farup Sommerland. The park's name is way down there on the bottom of it. And I got this as a "bonus" for my ice cream purchase. With sprinkles! Liseberg had it's mascot rabbit in pirate getup on the small mug. Arrrrrr indeed. Proof of where it came from. Liseberg had only this for it's new coaster, HELIX. Made of tin, and coated in enamel. The other side of it. I was expecting at least an actual coffee mug of some sort. But - at the time - not to be. Picked these up on the overnight ferry between Stockholm and Helsinki. Whe water is poured into the glasses, and the "ice cubes" are in the drink itself, blinking colours happen! The cubes. The glasses. I think the left one was finally out of battery power. And sadly, the batteries can't be replaced. Such is the way with some theme park/tour treasures. Nrthwnd
Oops. Of course, I forgot the one little mug not bought in Scandinavia, and I was having my morning coffee in it, while doing the last posting! Silly bear I am. It's from Hansa Park, near Hamburg, and only an hour or so ferry ride, from Denmark to Germany, which was part of last year's Tour. It's of Fluch von Novgorod, a great steel coaster with excellent theming from queue line to the exit walkways, and all of everything in between. But - unfortunately, it is also one of those mugs I cannot put in the microwave to reheat cold coffee, etc. Started sparking immediately the first time I tried it. Eek. The more you know... The enclosed lift hill is on it... ...As well as it's name. (o: Hansa is a great park.
Nrthwnd
BUMPed this thread, to let you know I'll be posting all the beverage containers and mugs I recently picked up on our Amsterdam~Paris~DisneyParis vacation back in September....next year. Ha ha. But here's a group shot of some of the neat stuff I picked up during David's and my trip... (And HAPPY NEW YEAR Everybody!) EDIT TO ADD: By the way, this thread is for anybody and everybody to post their stuff, if you want to. I would love to see others' Theme Park Mugs, Cups, and Glasses Collection! From Walibi Holland to (mostly) Disneyland Paris. Edited February 12, 2016 by Nrthwnd
Nrthwnd
This was posted on mjollner's (Per) trip report about him and his friends' visit to Tivoli, for the Holiday Season: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48098&start=90 Tivoli had a Glögg cup available as a freebie when you bought some Glögg to keep yourself warm. Thanks Per for posting this photo in your report. It's a nice looking little Glögg cup. mjollner/Per: "5 dollars for Glögg and they let you keep the cups. It's a sponsored but quaint little souvenir."
Nrthwnd
Here's another Big Mug I picked up, during our September visit to Disney Paris. I love these things, but in the beginning, I had to look around a lot before I found a mug rack thick and heavy enough to take these Disney Mugs (and a couple of others) on. I have four of these larger "Pint-sized" mugs, one from each visit to DLPR, but the very first one was a regular sized mug. Put out during the Resort's 10th Anniversay, 2002, and the opening of the second park, Walt Disney Studios. Nice mug. Hi Mick 'n Minn! Heya Goof! Even Clara Belle shows up on this mug! Sign of Quality - and where it was made, lol. And where it's currently spending time. The other three DLPR mugs are on the bottom row. The first mug, 2002. Celebrating the Magic Kingdom and the new Studios. Other side, reverse ink! (o; Sign of Quality, and where it was made. And where it ended up, on the other rack, far left. Just it's butt showing. Nrthwnd
Would you like your coffee/tea "Realistically" or "Fantastically"? I have just the hot beverage cups for you! Picked these up at the World of Disney Store in the Village at Disney Paris Resort. Couldn't pass them up, although I wish I had bought all of the set, besides this one cup. Now I normally don't drink espresso of any kind, but seeing Mickey like this made me want to. And Minnie was in curlers on her espresso cup! I totally forgot what Donald and Daisy's looked like. The other pair of cups are a play on the wonderful world of Wonderland and That Tea Party. Pretty cool how it "looks" like a stack of cups, but it is only one tea cup. Looks like Mick had quite the "last night..." Isn't that the truth? Where he ended up, among all the "smaller but still important" cups. My two Alice cups. I really like them! Where they are now, in the kitchen.
Nrthwnd
Here's a pair of glasses(i.e.tumblers) we picked up at World of Disney, in the Village at Disneyland Paris Resort. Our fave colours are red (myself) and purple (David). And for these, David found them first and immediately wanted to get them. That was fine with me. The other 'thing' is a plastic kids-sized cocktail shaker, just like the big kids use. Only this one held a milk shake in it. It was very yummy. And it now sits beside the yellow one I picked up, back in 2008 on the TPR Europe Tour. Note about the glasses... READ THE attached LABEL FIRST. I didn't and threw the red one into the dish washer. The hot water "chipped" away at some of the red film that was actually painted on the glass. So, the glass was NOT made of red glass. It was clear glass, painted red. Just wrecked a bit of the top edge colour of the glass, but still. Now I know . And we did pick up a bit of Souvenirs to Eat. The chocolate was bought at DLP, and later at home, I discovered it was actually two bars, not one big one as I thought. The teeny tiny Nutella, I couldn't resist for the cheap price it cost. I don't eat it much, if at all, but still. Looked cute. I was hooked. (Got it at the CDG airport duty free.) Our fancy trio. With baby Nutella on the side. (o; Where the red shaker now sits in a kitchen window. A closer look. One chocolate bar turns into... Two bars of chocolate. Yes! Where baby Nuttela sits, at this time. With all the "adult" containers. And the "twins."
Nrthwnd
From Walibi Holland on my recent September trip, got me a coffee mug and a shot glass. The coffee mug was actually sponsored by Nescafe, and once bought with your first coffee, allowed you to free refills your entire visit, if you keep your receipt. Which I did. And I did. Ir also has a stick-to base, so you can put it on your car dashboard (or somewhere else) for your traveling needs. The shot glass was, sadly, a non-local Walibi branded glass. No "Holland" on it anywhere. Oh well. Still holds liquor real good. Here they are. Walibi represent! Unfortunately, no "Holland" rep there. )o: The coffee mug. With it's base, and sponsored by Nescafe. The Walibi glass, joins my mini-bar setup in a kitchen window. (o:
Nrthwnd
"Oooo La La! Yogurt never had it so good!" This is going back to when we spent 5 nights in the city of Paris. I am always on the lookout (since my first Amsterdam finds) for glassware that holds individual portions of food, like creme brulee' or yogurt. You get to eat the food AND you get a nice little glass 'thing' for use in cooking (spices) and such. Great cheap souvenirs! In Paris on this trip, I found a yogurt, but not only was it in a more 'permanent' container, it was in terra cotta with an enamel over it all! I was shocked. And bought the pair of them (they usually sell these in pairs) immediately! And brought them home. Everything from the trip. And the blue enameled, terra cotta 'cups' are over there on the right. The 'Vanilla Bean' yogurt inside, was very very good! Where the other glassware sits in the kitchen. Boy, these two definitely stand out in the crowd!. Since this pic, they've been assigned other uses. (o:
Nrthwnd
ILoveRides just posted a great recent visit to the Disneyland Resort, which ended with a newly created World of Color Dessert Party. Costs a bit ($79), but you get a reserved seat for WoC w/o having to stand and wait. And there's a dessert plate with all sorts of goodies on it, including cheeses. Along with that, you get two drinks, alcoholic or non-. And I noticed that for the kids, they get this great take home (I assume?) Glow-With-The-Show cup for their drinks! I want one. If I do go to the WoC Dessert Party, when I head down in September, I may make one of my "cocktails" a non-alcoholic one, in a Glow Cup, heh. And here's ILoveRides' report on their awesome day at DLR: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71824 EDIT: I have re-considered doing the WoC Dinner at Carthay, and...back to the Dessert party, LOL! Fact is, with the desserts plate, I get a SEAT to enjoy while waiting and watching the WoC as it happens. With the dinner, you are doing two separate things: First dinner, and Second, walking over to a standing room only section of the larger viewing stands. I would prefer to pay the extra $$$ and enjoy being seated, with desserts (sweet & savory!) and drinks in front of me, less than an hour before it all starts. Yes!!! And I also found out , that those Glow Cups ARE available in shops (or one shop) in DCA and DL. So, I can have my 2 cocktails and buy a glow cup... later on. Easy! Photo taken by ILoveRides, thankyou! Edited July 6, 2016 by Nrthwnd
Nrthwnd
Found this out, that the Go With The Glow plastic drink cups that are part of DCA's World Of Color Dessert Party, ARE available in a shop (or shops) in DCA! So, if I do the WoC DP in Sept.for the price it is ($80 US), I get desserts, two cocktails, and a s-e-a-t with a view for the show. Worth repeating, if you're my age, ha ha. Hmmm. Works for me, I must say! (I don't do standing around for a long time, as easy to do, as I used to do it.) What the cup looks like if you buy it, rather than getting non-adult drinks in it at WoC DP. (o; (And THANK YOU to whoever took this, I forgot, bad me.)
Nrthwnd
I finally picked up my COKE Freestyle PNE Cup, which was available all Playland (Vancouver) Season! D'oh! Theirs is the same as The Beast Cup is. You pay nearly $10 for it, and then get dollar refills all through the Playland Season... AND The PNE itself! I was impressed and bought one. What I didn't find out till later, is that of the two (only two) spots in the entire PNE Grounds, only the Freestyle in Playland had flavours to add to your COKE choice. Bummer. Oh well, after yesterday's visit, I decided the The Beast Cup is The Best Cup to use, AND you can get regular COKE in it, too. With my dollar's worth of popcorn. The insides of it. Nrthwnd
Here's the copper mug I bought, while on my way to this year's West Coast Bash. From the Coast Starlight train. I actually have a coffee mug w/lid from a late 1990's train trip on this line, as well. Can't find it, but I know I still got it! The drink in the mug wasn't too bad, either. Simple design. I liked it! On the train, heading to Los Angeles. Back at home now, without the booze in it. (o;

IdahoKat
I used to have a collection of SFMM souvenir cups from the 90's and would get one each year. Nrthwnd
I finally had the chance to visit one of my all-time Bucket List Parks, Cedar Point! It was a great time, all shared with Bert (bert425) from TPR fame, as well as on CoasterMania! Day in the trip, (Fri.June 2) spent with Liz (TBpony414) and her awesome mom, Dianne. And of course, I picked up a few beverage containers here and there. A big coffee mug from Cedar Point; the Brew & BBQ beer sampling cup; behind it, the CP Re-fill cup; a Surf Lounge 'glass' from the Breakers Hotel Bar; and another Starbucks "You Are Here" collectors' mini-cup, this one with OHIO on it!
