Cameron Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 This all looks insanely brilliant! Loving the report Erik, thanks!! Hopefully I'll get a chance to visit the new DCA in February/March when I'm in LA either for WCB, or on my way to Australia. Cameron.
Brandy524 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I so wish this wasn't all the way in California! Cars is Danny's favorite Pixar movie. Great pictures, Erik!
Erik Johnson Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 Thanks all. Once this gets to page 4, I will post the others.
cfc Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Your meal at Flo's looks really good--as does all of Cars Land.
ernierocker Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 That was definitely great timing that you happened to be in Southern California. Looking forward to the rest!
Erik Johnson Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 No, it would have not fit in my suitcase.
beatle11 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Looks like they did a really good job with Cars Land. Not surprised at all with the 6 1/2 hour wait.
Kyle Coleman Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Rsr looks amazing but I couldn't see myself waiting six hours in line for anything. Really hope the crowds die down in time for my trip in october.
ernierocker Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Please tell me you bought the tire hat! No, it would have not fit in my suitcase. Couldn't you have just let the air out of it first? [/bad joke]
Erik Johnson Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 Rsr looks amazing but I couldn't see myself waiting six hours in line for anything. Really hope the crowds die down in time for my trip in october. Just get to the park a little before opening and go straight to the ride.
PAL Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 ^Did exactly that last Sunday. The park opened to day visitors at 8. Even though early entry people were already enjoying Carsland, we were on Radiator Springs Racers in 15 minutes through the single rider line.
Erik Johnson Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Cars Land Part 2 and Matterhorn. These are mostly just a few more random photos of Cars Land at night. It really is impressive at night. 90 minute wait, or 5 minute single rider wait. During the 6 month referb they added new trains as well as really cleaning up the mountain. There isn't any other differences other than the Yeti's roar is a bit louder. I really did not care much for the new trains. The old trains had padding, these do not. Your back feels the roughness of the ride a lot more. That was added fast. You get a tiny bit of airtime on the bunny hills. Getting darker now. I love Cars Land at night. Want some night photos? There are some many details to the new land. I love neon. This sign is from another entrance. Same with this one. Oooo....Waterfall.....At Night! Warp Speed! Last riders of the night. Trolley At Night! More menacing...at night! I am so sad that I missed out on Electronica. Not for me! Looks great at night. Menu! So impressive. Here is another one. Good night!
Godwyn Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Cars Land looks great at night. Were a lot of those photos taken as the park was closing or was it just not busy that late?
Skyscraper Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Thanks Eric ! The pics are awesome... it's so beautiful at night !!!
UberBeavis Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Thanks Erik, it was fun hanging out with you, and thanks for sharing our first ride on RSR, too.
cfc Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 It's tough to beat a Disney park after dark--Cars Land looks especially good.
Erik Johnson Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Thanks Erik, it was fun hanging out with you, and thanks for sharing our first ride on RSR, too. That really was a fun morning. Thanks again for being my tour guide at Uni as well.
live2tell75 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Looks like I may need to take a trip out to the West Coast ASAP! Lots of great additions to all the parks since my last visit in 2008. I was thinking about doing next year's WCB, but I might have to do a full fledge TPR West Coast Tour the next time it is offered! Thanks for the posting this trip report, looks like you had a good time!
Taylor Finn Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 The place looks aesthetically incredible. Radiator Springs looks like a ball. I am a bit disappointed in the other rides, though I understand their purpose being mainly to spread out the crowds there. Which goes back to the overriding problem. When parks open areas like these, they get INFESTED with people; Harry Potter world still is ridiculously crowded from what I hear. It is inevitable. I just wouldn't want to go to them until the crowds spread out a bit. Great trip report, though!
UberBeavis Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 While all the big (deserved) praise is going to Radiator Springs Racers, I wouldn't knock Mater's Junkyard Jamboree until you've tried it - absolutely fun flat ride, with enough cool stuff to see in the queue, and silly songs by Mater to make the wait go by ok.
Top Thrill Dragster Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 ^Agreed. I love the jokes and the Spanish safety spiel that Mater does between each ride cycle. I just wish they built the Mater animatronic originally planned for the ride.
Andrewoplis Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Awesome TR Eric! Cars Land DOES look amazing at night, I can't wait to go in a few weeks!
