DenDen Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Welp, here is the current track of tropical storm twelve. They won't know until later on tonight whether this plath will stick, and/or if it will strengthen, and we go under TSW or HW. Woohoo, it's going to rain, finally, and I'll be at work.
Erik Johnson Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Looks like we will be getting some rain this weekend in Florida. I'm glad I went park hoping this past weekend.
Louise Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I used to hate those warnings. Even though they almost always came to nothing I had this horrible fear of being stranded if anything happened to the bridge... Man I miss St Petes. Lou- "wants to go back to the US, NOW!!" -ise
Jose Eber Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Well, when the amount of hurricanes that cross your path be 3, then I'll feel sorry for you. Last year SUCKED for the folks of Polk county. I hope your power does not go out. Jose "no power sucks" Eber
Gregory DG Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Yes, it was pretty sucky for us Polk County folk. Shoot, you know it's bad when a roller coaster gets named for that crisis! (CG's Triple Hurricane of course.) But I got a free generator and a free roof out of the deal. Anyway, tropical storms don't scare me anymore. Shoot, even a Cat 3 hurricane wouldn't scare me now! The Cat 4's and especially Cat 5's are the ones to worry about.
Jose Eber Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I know...in Celebration we got hit a bit, but hardly any major damage (I loved it that there were no power outages at all -- that rocked -- advantage of having underground power I guess). When people complain about a ts, I shake my head -- I agree with you , CAT 4, 5 then I'll probably book a room at the Hyatt MCO (its like a concrete bunker). But now, we're in a different place, where we are in a 2nd floor unit with concrete above and below (and behind) us -- so not sure I'll budge if there is something this year -- but I did sell my car and delayed getting a new one because of the nasty weather that can come from a hurricane season. I guess I really take care of myself in these sorts of situations. But I'm most worried about the Tornadoes. I was so worried that our roof would fly off at our old place -- I didn't care so much about the hurricane, as with a tornado directly hitting us afterwards.
coasters 4 me Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 There seems to be alot of Storms hitting Florida this year. I was in florida when Hurricane Dennis was there. It was strange because were i live, we never get anything like it, but I found it interesting. And we left for Hurricane Emily. Also, is it true that there was a Tornado in The Siesta Keys in July? When i was there, there was a Tornado warning came up on the Weather Channel to get underground. My mum went to see my dad and tell him that it said this. My dad was all "We will be fine, there is no need". But apparently there was one only 5-6 miles away from us but some people didnt believe this because it was at night. But there was a road ripped up or something. Was this true?
AllisonY2K Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Man I miss St Petes. Why? It is a city of old people who drive slow! (used to live in St. Pete. all my family except me still live there) I hope the storm misses my area. We were sooooo lucky last year when Charlie turned inland and went around the Sarasota/Bradenton area.
Louise Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 ^ You're right about that of course, but I still loved it. My family had a home over there so we'd be there just under half the year and I loved it. Still got friends there and stuff who I really miss.
DenDen Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 UPDATE: We're now under tropical storm warning, and a hurricane watch. Note the picture below... Say it will be a hurricane at landfall.
FlyingScooter Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Good luck! Hope your car and house insurance is up-to-date. We've been getting slammed today for people wanting add comprehensive to their policies. That's a no-go: Binding restrictions. I hope your power doesn't go out!
DenDen Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 The only thing we're worried about is the power. We have a very dated power grid where we live, and every time the winds go over 40, we lose power, which sucks, cause where in the mid 90's with high humidity. (Damn, i should have bought that generator when I saw it on sale! LOL)
PhishyBrewer Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 It's named Tropical Storm Katrina! That's Ted's girlfiend's name. Ha Ha!
FlyingScooter Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Somebody has to say this:hurricane Katrina... Katrina and the Waves? :0 yeah, okay, READY, AIM Fire! (just shoot me...)
Homer Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 A tropical storm isn't much... And on the topic of that; All Tropical Storms must bow before... EL NINO FARLEY!
moinab Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 A tropical storm isn't much... And on the topic of that; All Tropical Storms must bow before... EL NINO FARLEY! Oh no, a tropical storm isn't much. We just had three houses in our neighborhood crushed by trees and we lost power for 5 days twice last year from tropical storms.
RctInfinity Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 OMG. The hurricane last year changed my life.
DenDen Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 Somebody has to say this:hurricane Katrina...Katrina and the Waves? :0 yeah, okay, READY, AIM Fire! (just shoot me...) I've been saying that the entire time, but nobody seems to know who the heck they are! (I'm a big 80's buff)
FlyingScooter Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 ^well, hope the storm leaves you okay. Here's to: Walkin' on sunshine. God, I remember them when they came out. The video's were a scream.
Nemmy Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Those watches and warnings look like they were compiled in Microsoft Paint.
Homer Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Dear lord, please cancel schools on the west coast... -Carl "Katarina better be a bada** tropical storm then to convince the district..." F.
OzCatter Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 My aunt has not abandoned her post in FTL. Same as last year with the Triple Hurricanes. -Cal
