The Kingston Whig Standard

Six Flags Ontario a monthly report by Kyle Piche

August 3, 1996

Hello, fellow Kingstonians! It is once again time for our monthly report on Six Flags Ontario. Yesterday, the park made an exciting statement. I went to check out the fuss and a representative told me this:

We're very pleased to announce we have 3 (count 'em) coasters on the way in the next three years; we've started to develop a "Kiddie Coaster" from "Preston" and a "B&M" "Stand-up" roller coaster, both of whose constructions are to begin immediately after the season ends on Halloween. The "Kiddie Coaster" is to be located next to Wolfston Railroad in the lot formerly occupied by Starship. The "Stand-up" will be located in the "Spain/Mexico" area and will jut out over the lake. As for our third coaster, you'll just have to wait 'till next year!

Sounds exciting!

The park actually presented me with this concept art of their Stand-up coaster:

They have, apparently, come up with a name, but they just won't tell me... Oh, well, I guess since they're starting to incorporate Latin-America into their "Fiesta Espanha" area, it will have a Mexican name or something. That's it for this month! Bye now!

Only the second of its kind in Canada since Vortex opened at Wonderland, this swinging roller coaster was built by Arrow Dynamics in 1992 to fit the "Spanish" theme of its area. Its name means "eagle" in Spanish, which is no big surprise considering the frequent feeling of flight many riders experience. Here are a few pictures of this beaut':

Next week, Blue Fire, one of two Schwarzkopf loopers in Canada!

Profile of a ride: Blue Fire

Now this is a history-maker. Blue Fire was the first looping roller-coaster built on Canadian soil, in 1980. When it opened under its original name of "Adrenaline Rush", both the park and its star attraction reported record crowds. For nearly two decades, our unique coaster has thrilled guests large and small, fearless and thrilled.

As you can see, the parking lot is a great spot to watch young guests finally braving a looping coaster, or veteran riders just having a blast. A common refrain from the top is "I can see my house from here!".

The park has recently renovated the theme tunnel, making the Blue Fire experience yet more unforgettable. Now with better fire cannons and a mist machine, this tunnel enhances the ride in ways most people have never dreamed of!

Of course, another favorite of the ride is its many twists. Some claim they can see the entire park in one ride just because of the many points-of-view riders experience. And of course, our amazing thread-the-loop element is great to watch and to ride!

It might be a long walk, but it's certainly worth the wait!

Thank you, Blue Fire, for giving everyone such an amazing time at Six Flags Ontario!

MAJOR SNEAK PEEK AT CHUPACABRA

Today, the local "Six Flags Ontario" park officially ended their new Chupacabra coaster's test phase. The first to ride the roller coaster were the park's General Manager Robert Adelin, the people who worked on marketing it, the engineers who constructed and designed it, and one lucky lottery-winning guest who does not wish to reveal their identity. Here is the official photo, provided by the park's marketing team:

The ride is sure to put this park up there with the largest, most famous ones in America; the park expressed its desire to attract at least as many guests as Toronto's Paramount Canada's Wonderland amusement park.

Sorry to triple post, but I've got some VERY Six Flags news:

We are currently planning a new area in the Ontario park. It will be themed to the hero Batman (as well as other characters such as Joker, Riddler and Penguin). This will essentially be tacked on to the Spanish/Mexican area and will be a dead-end. Currently, 3 rides (two of them, roller coasters) are on the priority list, although in later years more rides may make their appearances. The first ride will be a clone of the ever-popular Batman: the Ride found at many other Six Flags locations. The second is a "shuttle" roller-coaster (the technical name of which is "Boomerang"), relocated from another park in Europe and re-themed to the Riddler. The final ride planned for opening day is the Blizzard River, a get-wet rapids ride with a layout unique for its theme; there is a relatively lengthy underground portion. On to photos:

Yes, you are allowed to post external links because you have over 50 posts.

Or, upload it to Coastertube and make a post with Coastertube tags!

Sometimes YouTube doesn't provide the correct link so that you can post here correctly. But you can always post the link itself.

Chris is correct, and if you are lucky a friendly mod may even go and correct it for you. (send me a PM if you need help)

Haha, you are all very nice mods. However, Moose is the only one who offered.

All one needs to do is send us the link, as A.J. posted- we can do the rest.

People tend to think we're not here: In fact, most of us are on here at one point or another EVERYDAY to fix things for the exchange and forum- however, if we don't get a PM or an E-Mail with things in it, we can't fix the problems along the way.

Posting in our forums- yes, we read them- but without the actual ITEM NEEDED, we can't do anyting about it...
