thrillrider Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Yes...good memories indeed. I remember the first time I went on demon drop, as soon as I got off the ride I bought a "I survived demon drop" pin. I ran into the same problem with kid arthers court. I was too big and was bummed I couldn't play in the huge ball pit they had. I was explaining to amy that the reason the kiddie kingdom signs were themed the way they are, was because of the kid arthers court. I remember that they themed the whole area to a castle theme. That is the only hint of kid arther that is left.
KDCOASTERFAN Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Thank you. If you like the s.o.p books, stay tuned because I have the space mountain s.o.p comming soon. Interesting read, have you got anymore CP SOP manuals?
thrillrider Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Thank you. Interesting read, have you got anymore CP SOP manuals? Thank you.... I may have the millennium force s.o.p book. Give me some time on that one, because I just moved and boxes are all over the place.
thrillrider Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Todays update is going to come in 2 parts. I have the official press release for the demon drop at cedar point in 1983. The ride has been moved to dorney park this season, but will always be linked to cedar point. The press release has all the info about the new ride, and all other new things for the year. It also has some park promo pictures as well. There will be 2 parts to this update...one today, and one tomorrow. The press release comes in this nifty folder. Info about the ride. More...... Just the facts... Wow, only 2.5 million. I wonder what it would cost today. Anyone remember the bears? New Imax Only $11.95. Here are the promo pictures that are in the kit. Kid arthers court Some random kid playing with balls. Net climb in kid arthers court Stryker, coco, misty and breeze....yea, I remember the names after all these years. Jungle larry. Power tower now sits here. Gemini racing coaster. White water landings splash down. Corkscrew doing it's thing. The berinstein(sp) bears would be a lot better than snoopy. That's it for part 1. Stay tuned for part 2.
thrillrider Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Wow....no comments? I thought for sure this would be a hit.
PREMiERdrum Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Wow....no comments? I thought for sure this would be a hit. Sorry for the delay... LOVE IT! First pics I've seen of Jungle Larry's in quite a while. The Oceana pic was great too. Thank you for sharing!
Philrad71 Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Yep...remembered the dolphin names too once you named them! I like the pic of the Gemini where you can see all of the trees to the left of the drop that used to be Camper Village (now the Soak City parking lot and Challenge Park). When I was around 16, I used to sneak into those woods from Camper Village to share a cigarette with my buddy before we would go into the park. Oh, the stupid things that kids do (I quit smoking many years ago). When Magnum was built, my parent's used to reserve one of the campsites right by Magnum's first drop where the parking lot is currently located. CP used to close at 10:00 and run the Magnum till about 12:30-1:00 to accomodate everyone that was in line by 10:00...yep, the line's used to be that long! Again...thanks for sharing - definitely good memories!
Geauga Dog Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Loved the Demon Drop update. IIRC that was also the year they took out the Sky Wheel double Ferris Wheel that was located nearby. While reading the info I flashbacked to when we used to wait 1.5 to 2 hours for it in the baking sun. I also liked the Mean Streak S.O.P. How large is that manual? Seems to almost be the size of a novel. How much of that did you have to memorize?

I can't remember if I actually went on it, as I was really young back then. The book is 157 pages long. It goes into detail about anything and everything. The visual board test that you have to take in order to work the ride is not too hard. You just have to read the sections that will be coverd in the test. Here are a few pictures of what the visual board test includes. Hope this gives you an idea of what you must learn to run a coaster. Sorry about the crappy scan.
thrillrider Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Due to me being very busy as of late, and the lack of interest of this thread, this will be the last update till at least after christmas. This is part of the Disneyland space mountain s.o.p manual. The cover. Just like in the mean streak s.o.p book, there is a test that you have to pass before you can operate the ride.
beatle11 Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Hope to see more when you get the time.
Chrisrad Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 ^^^ I wouldn't say there's a lack of interest. I read your posts all the time I just don't respond. Keep posting...I've enjoyed everything so far!
DisWiz Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I loved the Space Mountain manual! Amazing, I'll be sure to keep checking back on this thread!
The_Mad_Hatter Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Very cool. As a Disney geek, I absolutely love this stuff. ;D Is the sixth Space Mountain picture an e-vac route?
thrillrider Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 I am not sure what you are looking at. Are you talking about the hallway? Here is another picture that shows an evac route.
The_Mad_Hatter Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 The box in the bottam corner says something about "guests in the hexagon room are directed out the VIP entrance." I'm not sure what instance that would refer to other than an evac but I'm not exactly sure.
thrillrider Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 It might be. If you look at both pictures, the evac hall looks to be in the same spot.
ILoveRides Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I enjoyed looking at the Space Mountain manual. Thanks for posting!
thrillrider Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 My pleasure. I am trying to find more Disney S.O.P books, as I am a closet Diney geek myself.
thrillrider Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Hope to see more when you get the time. Thank you. I have a lot more, but it will be a bit before I update this thread. I am starting a new job, and mix in all the christmas madness and the other 4 jobs I have, that will not leave me a lot of time.
coaster-crazy Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 This is great stuff. I love the Space Mtn. manual. You make me want to post pics of my collection! Can't wait for more! ~Nicholas
