coasterkyle
I found that holding the restraint and pushing out wards on the grab-bar with a firm grip keeps you from getting stapled . esp on the drop and right after the luanch.
PKI Jizzman
Look at the pics of Maverick how many people have the arms up? Also look at their faces it doesnt look as if anyone is enjoying the ride, just bracing themselves. How can you enjoy that ride with those POS OTSRs on them? IMO it is the most overrated coaster at the point! I will be there on the 23rd and 24th and i could care less if i ride it or not. I rode it 2 times the year it open and my shoulders were so bruised from the restraints. My favorite coasters at the point are Raptor, TTD and Wildcat! I've got to ride Maverick, that ride is just nutz. The different unique elements really make the ride, and yeah the restraints are a bummer. I don't hate them, but I think there's a few things that I'd like to have improved on them. -Grooved bar for your thighs. -Some sort of softer padding for the over the shoulders part. I'm not sure how much softer you can make it without people tearing at it. I usually don't put my hands up, and I'm always in the front seat..just leaning forward and holding on. Becauseeee I put my hands up it got my shoulders, being thrown into them because of the airtime and other elements. Love Maverick, don't love the restraints. DBru
Now THERE are those coaster reviews I was looking for! Simply amazing photos, Zach. I have to ask...do you spend quite a bit of extra time searching for perfect locations to get unique shots, or do you just have a natural talent for randomly pointing your camera at a coaster and producing awesome photos? Some of these really are...well, awesome. And I totally agree with you about Maverick (my #1 coaster). It is simply insane. I mean, there is no other was to describe it. That thing rips my butt out of the seat, plasters it back down, makes my eyes water, and whips my body around like a rag doll...and I love every second of it. How were the bugs during your visit? They were terrible around this time, last year.
deano
Hey PKI MAN, thanks for the photos, lots of pics of my favourite ride MF, glad you had a good time and the crowds were low. Love the blue sky with the snow flakes, considering i've never seen snow in my life, its hard to believe that CP gets covered in it for months at a time. You've made me realise just how much I miss the USA and its awesome theme parks. Deano Not snow It's some type of tree or plant that gives off these fuzzy thing....something wood a guy called it. I've got to get back to Australia..Superman Escape was down while I was there! And I miss Scooby Doo's Spooky Coaster and Giant Drop. Thanks for the comments everyone! Ha ha, shows how much I know. (insert facepalm here) looks like snow, smells like snow, tastes like....oh you get the point. p.s. I'll trade countrys with you for a week if you like..... haiderodes
BTW Snake River Falls is an Arrow creation, not Intamin.
Skycoastin Steve
Zach, the white fuzzies all over the place are cotton wood seeds.
Philrad71
Awesome trip report, JizzMan...loved the photos and captions! It's funny that when I was at Dorney and SFGA this past week, I was thinking that when I finally do my PTR's for these two parks that I would try the actual "review" format and rank not only the major rides and coasters, but customer service, food, friendliness of staff...and of course, BEER! Nice to see you doing some of this as well...I enjoy reading other members thoughts & opinions after they visit parks that I have frequented & continue to visit. Phil PS - I agree with on MF in the front seat...it is even better to ride it at night in the front seat. Hopefully, you got that chance too! Chris Benvenuto
BTW Snake River Falls is an Arrow creation, not Intamin. Where'd you find that fact? It looks awfully similar to an Intamin though, Arrow must've of gone for the mock-copy look when they built the ride.
haiderodes
^I worked on an Arrow Shoot the Chutes (STC) before...Rim Runner at the Adventuredome and its all the same. Same boats, same style lift, same style flume and supports, same runnout, same control panel, etc. Additionally, the Arrow STCs use twin conveyor belts in the station and at the top of the drop. Unlike most other chutes rides, they can stop a boat at the top of the drop for blocking purposes. Clear differences between Intamin ones are the use of feeder wheels instead of conveyor belts, different style of restraint and lack of free-flowing water in the turnaround. The Intamin rides usually keep the boats on a track throughout the upper turnaround. Edited June 5, 2010 by haiderodes
chadster
Fantastic PTR, thank you. I think I have learned my lessons on parks with new rides (tho not as a result of STR, I came to this conclusion many years ago on trips to various parks turned disapponting due to the needed tweaking on new rides and as a result the ride being closed). I usually plan to go the year following the advertised ride opening to let the parks get all the kinks worked out if a partcular ride is the reason for my travels. I saw where STR will not be open this week either, big disappointment for sure for those who planned their vacations to ride it, however, as you so well pointed out, there are many other terrific coasters at CP and a few good flat rides by HUSS and S&S as well. I will admit, I made an exception and rode Prowler on Media/Preview day, and that was totally awesome.

All my pictures are always al-natural. I don't like the present fake stuff. What I take is how I see it! I also like to do reviews as well. I like reading them, so I present them. I know I've had some PMs about full rez pictures, if you'd like one send me the low rez one and I will link you with a full pic...I'm on vacation now so be patient! Thanks!
