BeachKidBoy Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks beachkid, So my friend can buy my ticket for me, even though they themselves are not going? Does anyone know how 6PM-12AM private AAA will be enforced? Does AAA have different tickets or get wristbands? Sorry to ask these kind of questions, I just want to make sure I don't get asked to leave because I don't have a AAA card, and want to make the most of my visit since I'm from WA. Thanks in advance!! Yeah as long as you have your ticket you are good to go. There will be wristbands you'll be issued in the morning as you enter. That is your 'pass' for the private party. Just like Chris also responded regarding the WCB.
Marita714 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 hey guys!!! i got a question...i got a AAA membership and i have a Six Flags Season Pass, do you think i need to buy the tix still to attend this event??? or do i just come up to the gate with my AAA Card and Six Flags Pass...i might bring my students from LB Job Corps if the recreation department has the funds for this last min trip...
ebl Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 ^ I believe you still have to buy a ticket, even with a SFMM season pass. Eric
fatdaddy Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 After talking to some people, i've heard that this event is really crowded. So, i decided against it, plus I'm a little beat up from BAB. Would be nice if someone could do a trip report, just to see what kinda wait times and crowds there are. Sounds like a fun event anyways, especially if you could get a tpr group together. You could all meet at a pancake house and call it "French Toast Bash", ok that was lame. More syrup, more fun?
BeachKidBoy Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 It seems like no one wanted to plan a time/place to meet up. I'll be at the Best Western Valencia Thursday afternoon on. Or maybe I'll see you at the park; I'll in jeans and a CLub TPR t-shirt.
fatdaddy Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Its easy spotting the tpr members, they will be the adults lined up at canyon blaster.
darklingscribe Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I'm up for a meeting some time tomorrow. I am going to arrive around 12 to 1 because I don't want to deal with LA morning rush hour. <> I just recently checked AAA's website for a friend and it appears their online ticketing system is down. If it is not fixed soon, people who have not yet bought their tickets might be SOL because I don't think you can buy this at the gate.
Chrisrad Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 ^^^ I think you can buy them tomorrow in-person. Anybody else going? I will be there tomorrow - at this point, I will be heading up by myself. Email/PM me if you would like to make some arrangements. chrisradcliffe@verizon.net
SharkTums Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Just an FYI, FatDaddy is right, it's supposed to be VERY busy.
suave1226 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I went to the AAA member event last night and all I could say was WOW. First of all there was free parking. We were all able to park next to the handicap parking. The weather was great and the park was pretty much empty. The longest wait I had all night was 5 minutes on Superman due to technical difficulties which were quickly fixed. Rode every roller coaster multiple times including many rerides without having to go back in line. I had forgotten how much fun Viper and Ninja were due to those rides usually being skipped to ride the major coasters. Terminator was running like a bat out of hell. I have a new favorite ride at SFMM at night. X2 is my favorite during the day. The employees were excellent. Overall, and this was a shared agreement from all of my friends, it was the best time I have ever had at SFMM. Im looking forward to more events such as these. They even gave us $17 coupons to Hurricane Harbor and free bags at the end of of the night. And best of all there was no line to get a funnel cake. There was also no sign of construction on the new Mr. Six Dance Coaster. And when did they turn the resturant over by Riddler's into a Texas BBQ place it smelled great.
BeachKidBoy Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I have never seen the park as empty as it was yesterday. During the public hours most rides were a walk-on, except X2 and Tatsu. Some had no line at all. During the private event even X2 and Tatsu were walk-ons. You could ride anything you wanted, not just the coasters, with never getting off.
SharkTums Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 ^Wow, that's VERY odd considering they were projected to have MAJOR attendance (think busy Saturday!). Seems like AAA must have really dropped the ball in advertising and selling tickets. Glad you guys had fun!
BeachKidBoy Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 To suave1226, How did you get free parking? I was charged the standard $15. Overall I agree with your post, along with mine of course. During the day with the GP there was no one there, and during the night AAA event, even less. I actually left early since I had ridden everything multiple times. Even on Scream we got re-rides without even asking. I also second your statement that Mr. Six's Dance Coaster still resembles a pile of dirt. I thought it was supposed top open in a week. Also a question for you, did the audio on Terminator work when you were on it? I rode it five times and never with audio. Also the fire on X2 seemed to be sporadic.
atem122 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 ^The audio on Terminator has been (maybe permanently) broken for a while now. And as for Mr. Six, I saw this LA Times article a week ago, and they said that it has no planned opening date at the moment.

I know what you mean by major attendance/think busy Saturday. I stayed at the Best Western, next to I5, and as I walked out to have a morning smoke and coffee I must have counted 25 busses in a ten minute span all heading to the, already packed with cars, MMPkwy.
fatdaddy Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Guess i missed it. Sounds like it was pretty cool, still i wonder if they will do it again if they had low attendace. I've heard in the past its been packed. Did any TPR group ever form?

I've heard in the past its been packed. Did any TPR group ever form? No TPR group I'm aware of ever did. From this posting site there seemed to be al least 20 of us going and a bunch of people including myself wanted to get together but no one ever commited to a place, time, etc... I wore my Club TPR shirt but the sole comment I received was from a ride op who is also a member.
davidmorton Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I was there during the day also; only Q I hit was 30 mins for X2 at opening time... unfortunately I think had eaten some dodgy food the night before and was feeling very ill all day so I didn't get to ride everything (very annoyed at this). Got a few rides in until I could not take it anymore (didn't feel like evacuating my system either upwards or downwards whilst on a coaster) so I just wandered around and left by 3. (Only the first parking lot was full and a few rows in the second). Would have been a good day if not for the Mexican-belly!

suave1226 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) I got there at 5:30pm so maybe it was due to it being so late that they had nobody staffing the parking booths what was great. Secondly Terminator's audio wasn't working when I was on it. Really didn't miss it either its all about the ride. Kind of wish they would just take out the audio box in the back of the train and give it another row. X2 on one train the speaker popped and you really could tell we were sitting in the last row. The other train's audio was working great. And about the fire when I got on X2 it was really windy so the fire was off the times I rode. But overall an extremely fun night. Also I want to ask this how does one make projections as to how many people show up. Unless you specifically see how many tickets were prepurchased I think it would be impossible but I am curious as to how that happens. Edited May 23, 2010 by suave1226

suave1226 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 fatdaddy I'm really curious when have they ever done this before. This is the first time I've ever heard of this event from AAA at SFMM. I sure hope its a yearly thing. I would definitely do this again in a heartbeat.
