After seven years of ownership under Parques Reunidos, Belantis amusement park has been sold to Compagnie des Alpes for €22 million.

Compagnie des Alpes, the operator of mountain resorts and leisure destinations, has completed the purchase of one of the largest amusement parks in Leipzig, Germany.

It has bought the Belantis amusement park from the Parques Reunidos group for €22 million.

Originally opened in 2003, the park features 27 attractions across nine themed areas, along with three shops and six F&B outlets. In the 2024 financial year it recorded a turnover of approximately €22m.

The purchase includes a total land area of over 800,000sq.m, with an additional 410,000sq.m available for future development. 2024 saw Belantis welcome around 300,000 visitors, but Compagnie des Alpes believes that it has the potential to welcome almost 900,000 visitors a year.

The purchase price has raised questions locally, given the relatively low cost and the recent investment of €60m by its previous owners.

With the acquisition, the company now has leisure parks in the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.

Compagnie des Alpes quietly announced as part of the release of their financial results for 2024-2025 that Belantis will gradually transform into Parc Astérix Germany.
