So what does everybody think about the South Korea speed skating team getting their gold taken away?

IMO, part of speed skating is the bumping, there was no malicious intent and that shouldn't have happened.

And then the US team, who got their asses kicked had the gall to get their flag and start parading around. IMO, they had NOTHING to celebrate. It's like they weren't even in the same race.

^Especially since they seem to let the men get away with more bumping than that.

I hate subjective sports like that...that's why there's so much drama in Ice Skating etc. If there isn't a clear defined winner, there's always going to be drama!

I was watching that last night, and SK was totally ripped off. There was barely a bump.

And even if SK was going to be disqualified, the US should NOT have been given a medal, just because of how far back they were in the race. Their celebration when they suddenly got the bronze was really annoying.

I would have been relatively OK with them giving the Chinese the Gold and the SK's the Silver ... but to DQ them entirely???

And yeah, annoying is the word for the US team. They had absolutely NOTHING to celebrate.

Actually, there is hilarious irony in this because one of the South Korean skaters said to the press that Apolo Ohno didn't deserve the first silver medal he won because he was bumping.

I'm kind of Olympic'd out. If I see one more "World's Greatest Spokesperson In The World" commercial, I might lose it.

they may have won gold, but on the hottness scale, I have it scored like this

Finnish woman's hockey team > US woman's hockey team > Canadian woman's hockey team

Way to out-dyke the world, Canada

Russia are just incredibly bitter about the fact that they lost the figure skating gold even though Lysacek pulled off a flawless performance and Plushenko did the quad jump, poorly, and then struggled with the rest of his routine.

I hope they get utterly shown up on 2014.

^Yeah, that's a pretty weak argument that the Ruskies have. That Plushenko should win because he did one jump. Sure he should get more points for pulling off the most difficult jump in figure skating, but then there's the other 4+ minutes of routine to score.

Lysacek just looked damn good and Plushenko looked less good. Deal with it.

I respectfully disagree. They were still good enough to finish 4th in the world, regardless of how far they finished behind in the final race. That alone is cause for celebration, but do you really expect them not to be happy that they won a medal? Regardless of how they got it, there are DQs in every event. Do you think the guy who won the gold because the Dutch skater finished in the wrong lane should have been any less happy about his gold? Had the athletes disqualified been playing by the rules (petty violation or not), they would have won their medal. The US team (or any other athletes awarded medals via DQs) shouldn't feel guilty about winning a medal, especially if they followed the rules and stayed within the parameters of the competition.

That's just my opinion. I know if I were an Olympian, I would be overjoyed with whatever medal I got, no matter how I got it. And I wouldn't feel ashamed to fly my country's colors when I won it.

^ I don't expect them NOT to celebrate, but they way they did it was excessive.

Did you see them while the judge was looking at the tape? They were standing by the coaches pawing to get the flag just waiting to be handed (yes handed) the bronze rather than actually winning it.

^I don't know... as much as we want the gold (and vengeance for Monday's game), Canada made some pretty costly mistakes last night towards the end that could have very well ended in an overtime loss.
