CoasterFanatic Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Deja Vu! You got the same meal as I. http://lh6.google.com/image/tedcromwell/ROVB0WeXABI/AAAAAAAAA1Q/iJVnY3FLoVc/IMG_4611.jpg?imgmax=576 http://lh4.google.com/image/tedcromwell/ROVB58UjABI/AAAAAAAAA1o/e-gTtvY58Ds/IMG_4614.jpg?imgmax=576 and to think, when I got your pic last night, I thought you were just at home drinking out of Great Lakes glass.
mcjaco Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Wally, how easy was Great Lakes to find? Our friends in Cleveland told us it wasn't easy or a nice area. From your picture, it looks ok to me. They're not beer people, so I think they were trying to keep me away.
PhishyBrewer Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Just got back into Cali. ^The brewery isn't that hard to find, at least thats what I think. I lived in Cleveland most my life... so. But if you know where the East Side Market is at which is right over the Hope Memorial Bridge, you can't miss it. There are to separate buildings that are near each other which you really can't miss unless your blind. One is the brewery the other is the restaurant. And there is $3 parking right there.
DerekRx Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Glad you finally got to Great Lakes, Wally. Tonight I was thinking about SoCal, so that's what I drank; the Stone 10th IPA. Pure citrus heaven. Now that's the shiznit! Nice thing about bombers, there's more than 1 serving. Great thing when you have a wonderful brew like this
Rugged One Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Nice to see you had a good time in Cleveland, Wally. Is that a pitcher of Dortmunder I see next to you? Nice. Anyway, I was going to get into something new tonight (of which I still have a ton of) but instead found myself drawn back to one of my new favorite brews. What can I say? It's hard to stay away from something so good. Oh yeah! Back for more of the Shakespeare Stout. I actually picked up a little more smokiness in the finish this time around.
DerekRx Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I've still got about a 6pack of HopDevil left, and the sell by date is coming up, so I better start drinking more of this wonderful nectar. Now that's a good brew! Hello Hoppy!
Rugged One Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 ^ Yeah, it looks like the goods arrived. Went with something new from Ruth Brewing (ie. Southern Tier) tonight, the Big Red Imperial Red Ale. I was a little suprised by this one. I was kinda expecting more of a nice hoppy amber type but instead was greeted by a very spicey, malty, hoppy, and very alcoholic tasting red ale. I actually switched to a snifter after a few sips. Yes it was that kind of beer. The Southern Tier Big Red. Somehow I don't think this pic is Derek approved.
Canadmos Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Its been a while... Found this for $8, but damn it was tasty. New Years was a blast... Munchies galore... A ton of pizza... And a bunch of cheap ass rum for Strawberry Daquiries..mmmmmm And this week I'm enjoying some Smithwick's.
DerekRx Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Tonight was a night for some favorites, as well as an unexpected guest... and when I think about snow, I think about the woman I don't see in the winter because she lives in the nexus of it Light, fluffy, and cold! Soon thereafter, it starts to slow down After another 30 minutes, it's coming down pretty good Not too much yet, but it's starting to lay Yay for drunk playing in the snow with my beer blanket on! After a good 30 minutes, this is what we had As for that unexpected guest...It was snow! No, not that Canadian Reggae rapper dude, the winter precipitation. Truly the nugget nectar of the gods Next up, the golden Nugget Nectar I am so oaked for this beer! First in line, the Oaked Arrogant Bastard. Oh so good and vanilla-y When all is said and done, we've got an inch after this session
mcjaco Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Nicole, you just need to get your 300th credit, so you and Derek can get hitched.
niiicolaaah Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 LOL! That's Derek's requirement, but I have another one in mind before that can occur...
Rugged One Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Uh oh, dude. I think she's trying to tell you that you need to give up beer.
DerekRx Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 ^Woohoo! OK, you're a keeper Tonight, just a bunch of random pulling from the fridge. Ahhhh! And so, another weekend begins... OK, time to wash the bleck out of my mouth. Hooray apple beer! Bleck! Really sweet taste from the malt and alcohol sitting for a while Wow, the 10th Anniversary Alt. I had no idea I even had one of these yet Hooray for Friday! Woohoo, up first, more Hoppy D
Rugged One Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 So my good buddy Greg is up from Charlotte visiting for the weekend. He's my former beer buddy when I lived down South. Of course when he comes up to visit, we always have to get some good quality beer drinking done. When he was last up, last February, we checked out the highly fun Victory 10th Anniversary celebration. What kind of mischief will we get into this weekend? Who knows but look for updates during the weekend from myself (and probably Derek too). Fantastic stuff. We were going to finish up with some Double Bastard but kind of crapped out before we could get to it. Maybe later this weekend. Let's finish up with some oaked liquid Arrogance. Time to show Greg what a real IPA tastes like. Too bad I didn't still have any Pizza Port left. What can I say, we are feeling a little Arrogant right now. Next, it was time to get a little liquid Arrogance. The Stone 10th was a great intro. It's starting to mellow out somewhat but still packs a nice punch. They don't carry Stone down in the Carolinas so I figured Greg was due a lesson in beers with attitude! And look, he was nice enough to bring some beer love from down south. The last couple of Monster Series beers from Terrapin. And the TSA notice of baggage inspection too. What a good friend. Yeah, Greg's here! Say hi Greg.
DerekRx Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 As promised, here's todays beergoings. The day started off at Union Jacks, followed by a Golden Avalanche, and ending up at my place while watching the latest TPR video. Tonight's enjoyment. Maybe by the next time Greg visits I'll have my own bar downstairs... and Stone IPA for me. side note: I miss Nicole and TPR UK peeps These quality videos are long, more beer is needed. Siberian Night Stout for Heath and Leffe Blonde for Greg Even Kim broke out the Pyramid Apricot Weizen and myself the Bell's Two Hearted to watch the UK video So BACT to my house for some brews and TPR videos. Heath went with the HopDevil and Greg with the Nugget Nectar Next up, some Canal Street, home of Legacy. Of course, they were closed for some lame volunteer event, on a Saturday! WTF?! And Kim sexes up some Cookies and Cream Heath and Greg enjoy the Winter Bock Their Apricot Amber was very comparable to Pyramid's Apricot Wiezen. Really awesome stuff Next up, Kutztown Tavern, home of Golden Avalanche Oh so Bellicious! and what kind of love do I send to mcjaco? Why Wheat Love by Bell's, of course! With a side of Kim Greg is intrigued by Lagunitas' Brown Shugga Next in line, Heath whips out a Lost Coast Raspberry Brown Ale, my 700th beer. Gives Naked Fish a run for its money Greg polishes off the Sly Fox rather quickly and goes for the house brew, Legacy's Hoptimus Prime double IPA and I enjoy the Victory Storm King on tap. yum! Greg goes for the Sly Fox Raspberry Reserve Heath goes right for the 21oz of Spaten Optimator Greg hasn't been here since Victory's 10th, so Union Jacks was a good selection to start the day off
PhishyBrewer Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 ^Yes... there's a handful of them you can get at BevMo.
mcjaco Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 So these are from last Sunday, but I thought I'd share my pics of drinking while watching the Bears to victory. I decided to select some fine Chicago brews from Goose Island to help cheer on Da Bears. First up, Oatmeal Stout. Finally, 21 years! Time to celebrate with a Victory!!! Meh. And the Saint's pulled within two....time to break out my favor GI - Nut Brown Next up, their IPA. I'm not fond of IPA's, and this one ranks at the bottom. Tasty, but unfulfilling just like scoring fieldgoals. Honker's Ale. The good old standby. It's a hit. Me likey a lot. Ah, looks great in my new Lakefront pint!
mr_teisco_delrey Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 McJaco, That is a great way to recap a great Bear's victory. Tonight I am slumming it with a Mich Amber Bock.
mcjaco Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 ^ I'm so slow at getting these pics up. It seemed to work, so I'll grabbing some more Goose Island for next weekend. Tomorrow business takes me to Denver....you know what that means! A side trip to New Belgium!!!!
Rugged One Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 ^Is the camera going to work this time Matt?
Rugged One Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Time for a little something special that Greg brought up for me from down South. Straight from the Atlanta Brewing Company, it's their Red Brick Winter Brew 06. A Double Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. Yummy! And this was a good one. Nice and sweet and smooth with lots of coffee and chocolate. Wish I had more than one.
PhishyBrewer Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 So... do you guys enjoy a nice cold Widmer Hefe during the hot summer months? Do you? What if I brewed it?
