J.R.
^Sharp Edge also has a "Beer Emporium" location in the Friendship neighborhood in Pittsburgh. I've visited that location but not the Creekhouse one. The selection (heavy on the Belgiums) at both locations is huge. See sharpedgebeer.com for details. Janna
Rugged One
Last night Catrina, Shaun, Soup and myself went to the Sharp Edge Creekhouse in Crafton, PA. If any of you beer fans head to Kennywood this summer, give me a ring. The is THE beer stop! I might take you up on that Ted. I'm planning a beer run through the city the Saturday before Kennycon. After having a whopping 2 beers this weekend during the ACE Con, I needed a quick fix after we got home last evening. A Sierra Nevada Summerfest did just the trick. Mmmm. Summerfest. A great way to kick off American Craft Beer Week.
gregleg
Heath, you're doing KennyKon? I'm sure Derek would agree if I say "Eat at the Church!"
DerekRx
^Duh! I think the main reason Heath is doing KennyKon is so he can finally go visit The Church! I'd come too, but I have a feeling I'll be in New York that weekend. Last night I decided to try another beer I had for a while yet never got around to drinking, the Victory Moonglow Weizen Bock. It was pretty darn hearty! Tonight its on to the LBC! The taste surprised me, very rich for being a wheat I failed to make the connection of Bock, and leaned more expecting the Weizen. CoasterFanatic
Heath, From what I can remember the "Church" is very close to the main Sharp Edge location. It is the original that has the best selection IN THE US. KennyKon sounds like a very good possiblity.
DerekRx
Last night I met up with fellow BACT members Heath and Kim at Lancaster Brewing Company for some brews in Lancaster (duh!) which is pretty much halfway between us. And I kicked back a Hefe Weizen Heath followed it up with a FranklinFest Lager Don't know what they're brewing next, but they were washing these out The hopheads enjoy some Hop Hog IPA. Really citrusy, not too hoppy like other IPAs The LBC, located in the heart of Lancaster on Rt
DerekRx
Heath came thru as promised and gave me lots of good new summer seasonals to try. First off was the Pyramid Curve Ball. Not what I expected from Pyramid, but its still a really good summer brew. Wally, you can bring more if you want to HWN. It eluded me in Berkeley, but I finally got it, thanks to Heath! I'd come too, but I have a feeling I'll be in New York that weekend. If you're going to be in Western New York and want to add to your stash or try new things, you may want to check out Premier Gourmet sometime. They have a pretty large beer selection and many of them can be bought as a "mixed" 6-pack so you don't have to commit to a whole case or six-pack for something you just want to try. Beer list and address can be found here: http://premiergourmet.com/catalog/ (select Beer List on the left) It says "Buffalo" in the address but technically it's in Kenmore/Tonawanda. They used to have beer tastings on Saturdays; I don't know if they still do. There's also an immense liquor store (one of the largest in the US) next door http://prime.premiergroup.net/about.php. They also used to do wine tastings on Saturdays. Janna

There is the possibility of some other things going on that weekend of Kennycon but we plan on getting out there sometime this summer. We'll definitley be out that way in the fall for Phanton Fright Nights. Glad your enjoying the Curveball Derek. I really dig it. A nice, refreshing Kolsch style for the summer. Anyway, in anticipation of leaving tomorrow morning for a week in sunny So Cal and checking out three of the top breweries in the world over the next couple of days, I had myself an Arrogant Bastard from one of the thee aformentioned breweries I'll be visiting. Look for a BIG update in about a week. Looking forward to seeing where little Arrogant Bastards are born.

memphish
^Are you bringing anything out to Indiana?
DerekRx
^Probably not, I don't like flying with beer. Besides, why would I bring what I normally drink when I go someplace new and get experience new stuff. I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to check out liquor stores and what not, as I won't be at HW for too long with evil lines during "ERT". As for tonight, I'm starting off with Victory's Summer Seasonal, the Whirlwind Witbier, a Belgian Wheat Ale; another beer thanks to Heath! Strange taste, very Belgiany, but not quite a Hoegaarten I always like a new Victory beer

DerekRx
Next on my agenda, a beer I had a few nights ago, but this time in a bottle! Probably my favorite Lancaster brew Lancaster's Hop Hog IPA. Not as hoppy as other IPAs, but a really good citrusy beer
DerekRx
We'll start off the weekend with something Heath left me before he went off to SoCal and its great breweries (bastard!). and its got great taste to boot! I can't understand why St. Boisterous looks so evil A really nice rich smell for a lager This old dude looks angry, and the color scheme and his appearance should be more for their Christmas beer Victory's Hellerbock, the St. Boisterous
DerekRx
Back to the Curve Ball! Very refreshing! Not as strong as the Boisterous. Nice lite summer stuff
PhishyBrewer
I'm starting to figure out that I'm going to have some issues with fermantation in the summer heat. Working on it. Hope to be brewing soon!
DerekRx
No picture tonight thanks to bad internet in Rehoboth, but I will say tonight was a night at Dogfish Head, so expect plenty of pics tomorrow. Sean Menefee
I capped (err un-capped) Saturday night off after working 15 hours with one of these bad boys: Sean "I might get some free time some year, but at least I have good brew and a badamuss girlfriend till then!" Token Yankee Guy
Well, since it was my 21st birthday yesterday, my parents took me out to dinner where I got my first alcoholic drink. I started off with the sampler of in resturant brewed beers. (I went to a Brew Pub called Cambridge House in Granby, CT). Then I decided to try the stout which I thought tasted smoother and didn't have much of that acquired taste which beer has in my opinion. But in the end, I couldn't finish it since I start getting a little sick since I think the beer was kind of a shock to my system since I never drank beer before. But I think overtime I'll develop a taste for beer. Here's me with the sampler
