daveydo5172 Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 On Tuesday, a friend of mine and I had the privilege of seeing the "Princess and the Frog" during a special viewing at Walt Disney Studios. This is the first time the studio has opened the grounds to a viewing of upcoming releases as well as of touring. Supposedly, the park is not open for public tours and that my tour group was the very first EVER for the park(correct me if I am wrong please). For starters, we LOVED the movie - classic animation, conflict and triumphs, great villain and a VERY GOOD soundtrack. After being escorted into the grounds, we parked and followed the green frog feet thru the park and into the movie theatre. From here, we entered one of the oldest sound stages(where 20.000 Leagues was filmed) for a New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration, with Princess Floats, Carnival games, and LOTS of archived props from different movies. Tours were then being given every 20 mins or so of all the old animation buildings, the Disney Corporate headquarters and the archival building itself. It was a great experience that I will definitely do again. Basically, the event is by invite only, or those who belong to any of the Disney clubs. Enjoy the pics, and oh yeah, theres hot chicks(though I am not sure of their ages, so dont sue me) The Water Tower...I looked for Whakko, Yakko and Dot, but couldn't find them up there....oh sorry...that was Warner Bros... Pirate booty props The Man and the Mouse Dani and I with Mickey Walkway thru the studios Entrance to sound stage for Mardi Gras Carnival games PIRATES PIRATES cannon Cruella Enchanted's Prince Edward's outfit Davy's chest Davy Jones Pipe Current animation building Water Tower TRON hat in the archival building Mary Poppins hat in the archival building Walt's hats in the archival building In the archival building. tsmcdon Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I am so jealous. That had to have been a lot of fun to get to tour the studios.
daveydo5172 Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 It was awesome....they do plan on doing it for future movies as well
jray21 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Wow, you are really lucky! Looks like you had a great time, wish I could have gone. I'm glad you liked the movie, I guess I will have to see it. Thanks for the report!
RCFreak Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Oh wow sounds like an awesome experience! I got to go to the Studio a few years ago and it's definitely an interesting atmosphere. Thanks for sharing.
robbalvey Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 That trip report was so weird for me! I don't think I've stepped foot onto the Disney Studio lot since I last worked there in 2000...it hasn't changed... AT ALL! Was quite the flashback for me! Thanks for posting this! --Robb
Wes Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 ^ I think the only major change recently was the addition of a gym next to the commissary. The event looks cool though! They've been hyping it up, but I wasn't sure the extent of the things they were going to have. Good to see them putting up some old props and stuff.
dandaman Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Amazing. I've always been more of a fan of the man than the parks, so this is a fully awesome report.
ZipityDoDog Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 There are still tickets and tours available until Dec 13. I think they are in limited almost sold out supply at www.princessandfrogtickets.com.
nursemelis374 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Darn it! I wish I would have known about this earlier, I checked and there is like 1 ticket left here and there. Thanks for posting this, it was pretty cool!
jarmor Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 So is it this... Basically, the event is by invite only, or those who belong to any of the Disney clubs. Or this... There are still tickets and tours available until Dec 13. I think they are in limited almost sold out supply at www.princessandfrogtickets.com. Cause that seems like its open to the public and whoever wants to buy the ticket...
printersdevil78 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 That was awesome! Thank you for sharing.
Jew Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 It is open to the public, but it looks like it is now also completely sold out.
