dmaxsba2408
It sounds like another conflict between your operating system and the trainer. What version of Windows are you running the trainer in? If possible and it should be according to posts above ^^^^^ & ^^^^^^ even in Windows7 to operate 8cars in WindowsXP mode. The trainer was designed to run best with XP so if at all possible that is the system to run it with.
Foxy Roxy
From what I hear, 8 Cars works to an extremely minimal degree without compatibility modes active in Windows 7 64-bit. That being said, use "XP Service Pack 2" and when you re-open the game, the screen may invert colours for a bit, but it's normal. EDIT: I've been trying to install Time Twisters for the past couple weeks but when I install it and try to open a scenario that requires the expansion it says "Time Twisters Add-On required" Can anyone help me? Mastersax68
^^ I'm running Windows2000. Everything else works fine, zero-clearancing and changing the weather. I don't know if I have XP sitting around somewhere.
dmaxsba2408
^ Does 2000 have the options to change what version of Windows to use with programs? Usually you can find that if you right click on them and hit Properties. If so try to run it in 98. It is much more stable than 2000. ^^ I have had that problem in the past, the only way I could fix it was to totally remove RCT2 from my computer. Just make a backup of your RCT2 Objdata folder, saved games, and anything else you want to keep and do a complete removal then reinstall. Move your saved items back in and you should be good to go. Make sure when you copy the DAT's from your saved Objdata folder back into the new one you hit NO every time it asks you if you want to replace an item. You will be hitting NO a couple of thousand times. You do not want any of the corrupted files to overwrite the new ones. It will only take you a few minutes of clicking NO. It goes really fast. braztaz
Oh my god. That was weird. Three of my roller coasters crahsed right after another, and then I got an error trapper!
Mastersax68
I seem to keep finding these flashing loading bars. I downloaded Dimensions: Realms of Creation by Kumba earlier today, moved the map objdata into the folder, and tried to open up the park. Flashing loading bar. I restart, remove the objdata, and retry. Flashing loading bar. I restart again, remove the park from the saved games folder, delete the zip and the folder that I extracted from it, and tried again. Flashing loading bar. This is really starting to get annoying.
dmaxsba2408
^ What do you mean by "moved the map objdata into the folder"? You shouldn't have to "MOVE" anything in the objdata folder. There is only one exception to that and it would be non-exporting custom rides. Everything else should move automatically into your game. You don't even need to take the park out of the zip file. Just double click on it and it will load while still in the zip.
AJClarke0912
Okay, 8cars has been working fine and dandy until I started a new park. Then it just stopped working with RCT2. What I'm saying, is that RCT2 is running fine, 8cars is running fine, but when I chose hacks in 8cars, nothing happens on the RCT2 end! I try starting up the two programs in various ways and loading old saves, but it just won't talk to RCT2 anymore! It just happened randomly too after exiting a save game and starting a new game. Now it doesn't talk to RCT2 at all no matter the game that I load. What am I doing wrong? I could get it to work fine until now.
dmaxsba2408
^Going to try the simple plan this time, just restart your computer and see what happens. Have had this issue myself and sometimes that is all it took to fix it.

Rathalos888
I have a fairly annoying sound issue. You know all the various sound effects in this game? The noise it makes when you alter ground levels, peeps cheering after a good ride, the noise it makes when something breaks down or you win an award, log flumes splashing down, the noise it makes when you build a piece of a path or rollercoaster? None of this works for me. I have basic sound like peeps talking or rollercoasters moving, but not these types of things. If in the options menu I enable Forced Buffer Mixing or whatever it is >_> nothing happens. However if I change drivers multiple times, I get everything to sound fine. However, when I enter high traffic sound areas I get a loud annoying static sound, that increases with the better sound quality I choose. If I try to leave the forced mixing of and just change drivers, the sound effects work for a few seconds then go off again. This is very weird because this happens with either of the drivers I choose, the SB! Wave Device or the Primary Sound Driver. Did I miss a patch or something? Or would a reinstall fix the issue? Because I didn't have this issue with previous installations, even on my old, crappier computer. if so, could I just copy all my old save, park, and custom ride files and paste them into the new installation? Please help. You don't know how nice thanks those sound effects are till it's silent when you're building something >_>. Thanks!
dmaxsba2408
^ Yes, save all the files you want to keep and reinstall RCT2. It should solve the issue. Then put the saved files back in the game. If you were using any custom music/sounds leave those out until you have everything else put back in. Then try to install the custom music/sounds. Mastersax68
dmaxsba, Kumba made many objects for this project, including a object that was actually a big scale model of his park. That objdat came in the zip, and I already knew what it was, so I just moved it into my Objdata folder. About double-clicking the zip, I always open it first, and move the saved game into the saved games folder, and any objects into the objdat folder. Should I just stop doing that and just double-click the zip from now on?

djbrcace1234
^ For what, custom music? Additional ride music may be added as follows: 1. Convert the new music file into a .WAV file, PCM format, 22,050Hz, 16bit, Stereo. 2. Move the file into the 'Data' subfolder in the RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 installed folder, and rename it to either CUSTOM1.WAV or CUSTOM2.WAV 3. Run the game as normal. The additional music file should be recognized by the game, and will appear in music selection menus as "Custom Music 1" or "Custom Music 2". Hopefully this helps! dmaxsba2408
^ Thanks for explaining that! I never new how to make new music files I just knew how to put them in. It didn't work. That makes no sense, the games music and sounds are very simple and should run on even the oldest computers without issue. Sorry it didn't work. I hope you can get it figured out. Mastersax68, I am really sorry. I just read my last post to you and I was a bit rude. Anyway, moving a saved game to another folder or your desktop and opening it from there is fine, I keep mine in a folder for downloaded parks. I was just trying to say you don't need to move them from the zip folder in order for them to open. I really don't have a clue why your having so many troubles with the flashing load bar of death. Maybe it has something to do with Windows2000. All I can say is try not to manually load items into your ObjData folder and then try to open a new park. When you do that the game has to go through 2 checking cycles. One for the item(s) you put in and one for the item(s) the game automatically put in. Having it do both can cause and Error Trapper and the flashing load bar of death. Next time after you manually install an item run the game and let it load. Then after the game is loaded and running exit back out and try to load the new park your wanting to open. This will keep the game from taking to long to load and hopefully keep it from going crazy on you. Just a stab in the dark about an issue that could also be causing your problems, check your ObjData folder and make sure that there are no pictures, text documents or sub folders in there. They also can cause bad things to happen while loading the game. Honestly I can not think of any saved games that you could download from the main NE database that would cause any harm to RCT or RCT2. They have all been downloaded by so many other people (myself included) and if there was a problem with any file someone would say something and it would be fixed. FYI, at this moment I am also having the flashing load bar of death occurring again. This time it was caused by some scenery items I picked up at a German RCT2 site. I thought some the DATs id codes looked funny and I was right. Fortunately I always keep sever version of my ObjData folder around and as I type this the new bad files are being replace by the old good ones. Now I just have to go through the 628 new files that were added to my main ObjData folder before this happened and find the one(s) that are causing the issue. I usually make a new back up at around 1000 new items so I don't have to hunt forever for bad files in case something like this goes wrong. MattC13
For a while now I've been working on my own Six Flags Magic Mountain, which I've built up really big and got a lot of money. Yeah, well suddenly my park rating dropped from where it's usually in the mid 900's to around 700. I thought it was dirty paths or vandalism or something, but it's not. About 100 guests are wanting to go home. All these people were actually crowded in the exit of Gold Rusher. So I thought I could sort of solve the problems by picking them out, because they literally walk around in a circle, not leaving when they could. Now they're all getting stuck up the path and I really don't know what to do. :/ Long story short: Guests who want to leave are getting trapped in an open area.
djbrcace1234
^ You pretty much have to cattle pry them to the exit. There are several ways to do this: 1. Hand pick them, ( ) and place them at the exit gates. 2. If you said they are bunched together in one spot, delete a few path so they will stop going in circles. 3. sometimes using no entrance signs can help stop the circle. you need to guide them to the entrance somehow, so I hope this helps. EDIT: if you like, you can PM me the park so I can fix the issue and send it back to you if the problem is still an issue.
dmaxsba2408
This is a common problem with RCT2 when using wide paths. The only way to solve it is to build a path nearby that takes the guest in the direction they are wanting to go. For example if there is a building near by or at the exit they are gathering at build a tunnel path in the direction they are wanting to go, in this case around the ride that is blocking them and then once on the other side of the obstacle build the path back out inside of another building. The guests will use that path to get headed toward the exit. If they get stuck again on the way out repeat the process. This also works when you have a group of guests that are trying to get to a certain ride in the park but get lost (stuck) on the way. Hidden tunnels work great for all guest direction issues. Very simple to do and also very quick. If you have buildings that you are worried about damaging while building the tunnels and paths use 8cars to 0 clearance (absolute) the park. Then dig and build your paths. Restore the clearances back when finished.

dmaxsba2408
Do you mean into the game as in RCT2 or into the game as in the game you are working on right now? If you mean into the game your working on right now you need the ParkDat. It's on page 11 about half the page down. Practice with it before you use it in any park that means anything to you and always make a backup of your park before using just in case! If you mean into RCT2 itself you just need to get the DAT's into the ObjData folder and start the game. Once it loads they will be in the ride selection menu when your in the editor.
