RCTFreak123
^ I am really not understanding what problem you are having downloading rides/objects for the game. I also don't see how a VIDEO of this will help you at all. Here is everything you need to know about putting objects in RCT2. If there is part you don't quite understand I will try to explain it again. When you go to a site like AMAZING EARL'S and pick something out you want, it doesn't matter if it is a ride or scenry or both, you simply save it to your desktop or some predetermined folder. Once you have it on your computer you need to open the ZIP file. Inside the ZIP you will either see DAT's or a folder, if it is a folder the DAT's will be inside. Here is where things may be different from person to person. Everyone may not use the same type of ZIP program. One way or another you need to get the files/folders out of the ZIP and into your RCT2 game. You can highlight, copy and paste them, or drag and drop them or use the ZIP's extract functions. YOUR CHOICE! The path to RCT2 for extracting from the zip or placing them in RCT2 by hand is the same. My Computer...Local Disc (?)*...Program Files...Infogrames Interactive**...RCT2...Objdata. *Local Disc, mine is ©. Yours may be different. Just use the one you have RCT2 installed on. **If you are running the Triple Thrill Pack, it will be Atari not Infogrames Interactive. Once you have the items from the ZIP in your Objdata folder, do a double check and make sure you don't have any type of folders, pictures or text documents inside. This can be done simply by using the View tab at the top of the Objdata folder and selecting Arrange Icons by TYPE. If you have any folders inside the Objdata folder open them up and copy and paste it's contents back into the Objdata folder then remove the folder to the Recycle Bin. If you find any pictures or text documents remove those to the Recycle Bin also. Now your ready to start your game and get the items officially install in RCT2. When you start the game a Checking Objdata bar will show up, what it is doing is arranging the new items, this takes quite awhile some times so relax have some cookies and let the game do it's thing. Once loaded the normal LOADING bars will show up and your game will start. To find the new ride/scenery you just installed you have to go the Scenario Editor. Once there open a new landscape and search for your items. FOR DOWNLOADING A PARK...when you download a park it will more often than not have custom objects in it. You may or may not like these items, so ALWAYS keep a back up of your Objdata folder saved somewhere safe on your computer, and if you download a park that has items you want to keep, make sure you update your saved Objdata folder. If you did not like what came with the park just remove your current Objdata folder and replace it with your back up. If the park you downloaded includes DAT's in the ZIP along with the park itself those DAT's need to be placed in the Objdata folder by hand. They are called non-exporting and will not download into the game automatically and the park will not open without them. So put them in the game (as explained above) and then open the park. The Checking Objdata bar will show up then you will see a bunch of flashing bars show up with DAT names on them. Once those are done, another Checking Objdata bar will show up. Once finished the usual loading bars will come and go and the park will open. ERROR TRAPPER's while loading parks... Sometimes while loading a park it take the game to long to load and it will ERROR TRAP. Don't worry about it. Hit OK and try again. 99% of the time it will load on the second try. Thank you very much it worked
RCTFreak123
how do you delete scenery from rct2? ive tried reinstalling the game but the scenery is still there?
braztaz
how do you delete scenery from rct2? ive tried reinstalling the game but the scenery is still there? Go to the data file and you just have to find which one you don't want. Did you keep a backup of your old data file? Oh, and I'm trying to make a top thrill dragster like ride, and I'm stuck as to which track to use! I'm debating between a Hyper-Twister and a LIM Launch. I have 8 cars so height or power of the launch is not a problem, but I can't decide which one I should use. The Hyper-Twister has the cars I want but the LIM is closest to the track I want... or if anyone has a link to a Giga track that can go 90 degrees, could you send it to me? Thanks
djbrcace1234
There is no Giga track that just goes striaght up, so in the end, you would have to merge the Giga track to a B&M Track so you can make the top hat. For this, I would just use B&M track, and then if you want, you can switch the cars to the needed design; however, this will cause many breakdowns. The item below is a hybird giga coaster train, and it comes with it's own track, so prehaps this will help as well. JAGIGLT.DAT
dmaxsba2408
^^^ If for some reason your new scenery in not being removed after you uninstall RCT2 you can just follow the path you used to put in new scenery items to remove all the RCT2 folders by hand to the recycle bin. Once done reinstall the game and it should be back to when you first started the game.
Dotrobot
I wonder if you can make a KK clone using a launched suspended coaster like wicked twister then just changing the train... hmmm I'll have to try it!

couldnt you just make a giga coaster and the bit you will make go straght up make it a different coaster and hide it from view so you just think its a giga? Or you could use an inverted shuttle track they look similar to giga tracks
braztaz
^ i think the problem is with the inverted, it won't let me do the supports i want because the car is on the other side of the track. But I just used a Hyper track and it looks fine
Dotrobot
I'll try the suspended idea today. See what i get
Dotrobot
This is what i did this morning and it'd seem like it'd work i just need to make the purple track invisible. I tried it with just LIM trains and it went through the track yes THROUGH the track not above it. So i zero clearanced and made another exact track 5 feet lower as a dummy ride. And it looked as exactly as it should be but the purple track is still there and I need somebody experienced to make the top track invisible SCR19.BMP SCR20.BMP top hat
djbrcace1234
You really can do alot with those trainers! To make the coaster invisble, I believe you just check on a box that says set inivisble under edit rides.
dmaxsba2408
^nope you have to change modes, only Crooked House and Circus Show allow the invisble button to work. If I read all that (^^) correctly, the purple track is the one the coaster is really using right?, but the yellow one is fake. However it's the one that the trains look like they are on RIGHT? I need to know what's what before I can tell you what to do. Edited July 17, 2010 by dmaxsba2408
djbrcace1234
The purple one is the real track. It's the only ride there that has the stations, so the yellow one can not test to begin with.
dmaxsba2408
Ok, to make the purple one invisible all you need to do is go into 8cars and switch the track type to Crooked House and put a check in the Make Invisible box. Hit apply.
Dotrobot
awesome but i have a question dmaxsba if it's that easy to turn a ride invisible couldn't you do it with your rapid rides instead of all the steps?
dmaxsba2408
...if it's that easy to turn a ride invisible couldn't you do it with your rapid rides instead of all the steps? Yes you could and in fact making it invisible is the easy part, however if you just make the rapids ride invisible you will still need to put the lifts back in and that is what most of the Rapids ride "How To" is all about. Sometimes going invisible with a ride is as simple as just a few clicks in 8cars other times it is not. Example, for most of the day I was trying to make a version of what you were making a few posts up. I was using B&M track for the base, had Giga track sitting above it ready to drop down, used the Inverted Launch for the up and over and had it sitting over 100 game feet in the air ready to be dropped down and have a really nice looking TTD type ride. All I had left to do was make the B&M track invisible. Well it Error Trapped on me over and over. Then I realized I used block brakes on the ride. Well you can't do that when you make a ride invisible. So I removed the block brakes and tried again. Error Trapper! and then another one and another one till I realized I had used the large radius turns in a few places. Well guess what, you can't use those either when you make rides invisible. So I removed the large turns and tried again. This time it worked... FAIL! When the train got to the end of the flat launch track and was about to go up the hill it Error Trapped again. I tried several more times, changed things to Powered Launch, then Boat Hire, and then a few other things only to have it Error Trap again and again. So it is not always EASY. CorkscrewFoley
Of late, my 8 cars has been crashing all the time, up until this, I never had any issues with it, the odd crash here and there, but it was minor. Could this be because I have both RCT 2 and 3(Plat.) both on the comp?
10ryansmith
Im having an issue. I am in the process of trying to get a catwalk onto a coaster and I dont have the cs catwalks but I do have the 4D coaster. So I tried to zero clerence on all three 8cars and I go the same issue. When I zero clerance and then try to build the 4D coaster under the original (which is operating), the game replaces the original coaster track with the 4D coaster track!? With the original coaster train coming to the track were it was deleted for the 4D coaster track, it bumps the end of the track and then goes in reverse!? It is the original pack of 8cars that was posted in this thread on page 13 or something like that. I only say this because I was tinkering with 8cars to try and get it to work (which I fixed) but I changed some of the commands to others to get it to work (merging without 8cars crashing). However, the zero clearence doesnt work on ANY of the 8cars that I have (several copies of all three) and the originals are like that too? It worked earlier on (and after I fixed the merging issue) but it refuses to now? Any help is appreciated. P.S. Hey dmaxsba2408, I have a prototype "patch" that we were talking about up and working but I cant find the original (for RCT1) and was wondering if I could get the original patch again? Thanks in advance.
Stoksy
^Try building the 4D coaster track just above the track you want the catwalk to go on, then use 8cars (I think all of them can do it) and select ride options/edit rides 4D coaster. Make the height -2 and the 4D coaster should now be a catwalk. (sorry if this doesn't make sense, I don't have 8cars open at the moment)
Six Flags Enthuseast
For me, I bult the 4D coaster 1st, and then used the zero clearances cheat to build the hyper track over 4D coaster track. It worked for me, so far as I can remember.
10ryansmith
^^ and ^, those are the things that I included when I tried. It did the same thing each time. Thanks though.
Dotrobot
Did you try all three versions of 8 cars? Because it did the same thing to me today and I just changed the version ( I don't remember which) and it worked!
10ryansmith
I have all three of them. I got them through this topic, page 13? Anyway, something is going wrong and I'm going to find the issue.
