Mastersax68
I fixed my games problem. Awhile ago I posted in the lost ObjData Thread, because I needed some scenery to open one of nin's parks. I gave up on that after the 3rd or 4th object, and I deleted the park. I left the scenery items, though, in case I ever wanted to use them. More recently, I downloaded 2 older parks from NE, and only one of them opened. When I tried to open the other one, the flashing loading bar popped up. So, I deleted the scenery that I had previously downloaded as well as the 2 parks, and viola! RCT2 is working again!
dmaxsba2408
10ryansmith - Building the X coaster lift over top of any kind of coaster and then lowering it down over it should do the job every time. I makes no since for it not to work for you. However below is a zip containing all the custom catwalks that look really well with the game. Kind of glitchy when the train is on the lift(s) but other than that a very nice set. Been wanting to play around them them and lower them just a bit to see if it solves the glitch issue. Just haven't gotten around to it yet djbrcace1234 - Your not the first player with this problem, it usually has something to do with the version of Windows your are using. If possible try changing the compatibility for 8cars to XP or earlier. Mastersax68 - I am so happy you were able to get this flashing load bar of death issue resolved. Please don't let this issue stop you from downloading other peoples parks. All you need to do is keep a backup of your Objdata folder so if by chance it should ever happen again all you have to do is swap them out. Catwalks RCT2.zip The scenery tab is also in the zip. Six Flags Enthuseast
^^^I got them by downloading the Hopi Hari scenario from CoasterFuel.
Cavs Fan
This is actually a pretty simple question. How do you get guests to ride your rides. All of the peeps just sit in line for two rides and act like the rest of the park doesn't exist. Is their something wrong or am I just stupid?
djbrcace1234
Like most guest do in real parks,( ) peeps like to go for the most popular attractions first, or simplly, they follow over to a new ride. If you just opened your park, that would be the case I think. This is what happened when I opened up my newest attraction at the park:
Cavs Fan
^ lolololololololololololol!!!!!!!!!!! So if I closed a ride and then opened it, would the peeps go to that ride?
djbrcace1234
Or, you can play the wait game and let the peeps disperse, either or. Another "cheap way" to promote another ride (tracked ride only) is to delete a section of track an rebuild it. Peeps will think it is new.
Cavs Fan
I'll try it out. One other thing. Is it the more rides you have, the more peeps will come?
djbrcace1234
In theory, yes. Advertising helps as well.
Six Flags Enthuseast
Advertising, making a ride new, and bulding a ride that appeals to the 'average peep' makes a ride popular. A lot of scenarios are built with a 'preferred ride intensity' level which most guests will adhere to. For low, guests will want to ride lower intensity rides; for high, guests will want to ride higher intensity rides. Build rides to match the 'preferred intensity level' of most guests. Pingu1651
^ Does LOTR have a collection? If so, could I have a link?
dmaxsba2408
^ All kinds of LOTR items like scenery, parks and rides can be found at RCTMart. It is a lot of stuff and all very well done! The parks are in scenario format instead of saved games and loading each one is how you get the scenery for that part of the collection and each one also shows you how the items look built up in the game. ^^,^^^,^^^^ and ^^^^^ Some of your thoughts on how the game operates are true while others are not. Yes its true when you have park that is built up before you open it most if not all guest will go the the best ride in the park and then disperse throughout the park from there. That is still true in the game years later also. If you pay attention to new guests coming into the park at lets say year 5 you will notice that most guests will still head to that one "GOOD" ride first. Yes advertising does work, and mixing up the different types of advertising works best. Run a 6 week for the park, then a few weeks into it do a ride or food promotion, maybe just as the first one is about to end toss out a half price entry to the park. Each one will increase attendance so if you want a lot of guests all at once do them all at once if you want a steady pace of guest entering the park do it as suggested above. New rides vs old ones, well of course a new ride will usually be more popular than an old one. Not always the case though. It was mentioned that you can make the guests think a tracked ride is new again by removing a section of track and then replacing it, unfortunately that is not true. Once the ride is open it will continue to age no matter what you do unless you use at trainer to stop or reset the age. Removing and then replacing a section of track only resets the rides statistics. If your having problems getting guests into your park and you have no room to add more attractions and you don't want to use a trainer to "TRAM" them in is to remove a flat ride then replace it with one just like the old one. The guests in the game don't care that you replaced an old Carousel with a new one, all they care about is that you just built a "NEW" ride. The most important thing you can do to keep a park full of guests is to make sure that the park rating stays at 999. Once it drops below 700, new guest arrivals to the park are cut by about half and for for every 100 point drop after that cut it in half again. Word of mouth advertising by guests leaving the park is key to the generation of guest entering the park. It's one of those little things in the game that goes on behind the scenes that you DO have control over by keeping park guest happy. If you want some interesting reading about how the game works and why you really should check out The Definitive RCT Reference Guide. Yes it is for the original RCT but 99% of what's there is still the truth for RCT2. Very informative and also just interesting facts and figures you might enjoy knowing about the game. Six Flags Enthuseast
^^You should post the Definitive RCT Guide in your signature, with your parks and the RCT Store. It is VERY useful, and I actually have it saved under favorites on my browser.
dmaxsba2408
^ that's a good idea I think I will put it in there. ^ tried to lower it and 8cars crashed. ps = Found the original patch, dont need another link. So I take it 8cars and Windows is still causing you issues? I posted the entire set of catwalks one page back if you would like to skip the trainer use and just go with the scenery. They do look really nice in game. What link are you referring to? Were you able to make an since of the old patch?, any chance of it being modified for RCT2? Thought you were going to send me some pictures of your park(s).
10ryansmith
^ Ya. Windows 7 and 8cars are not liking each other. I need the original patch earlier but I found it. And I thought I sent you the pics?? Ill resend them then.

djbrcace1234
I don't have windows 7; I have vista, but 8 cars was made to run on the computer programs then (i.e. Windows XP.) Rollercoaster tycoon 2 has no issues that I know running the game, it is however glitchy when you want to use 8 cars. maybe a page back there was a discussion about this with all version of 8 cars unable to do some functions. dmaxsba2408
^ & ^^^ Figures! I don't know whats worse Vista or Windows7. They both seem to be incapable of doing the simplest things! RCT and 8cars are such simple programs. You would think such advanced programs would run them very easily. Why is it Windows98 and XP are the only versions that didn't screw everything up? Anyway, at the top left of this topic is a search function that only searches this topic. The search on the top right does the entire site so don't use that one. You will find all kinds of information about Vista and Windows7. Type in "Vista Screenshots" or "8cars Windows7" and see what you get. There also several topics at NE about problems with Windows7 so you might want to do a short search there also. I did the Vista one and got the quote below. First off, I'm new here, but I do have one question. I am currently running on Windows Vista and I can't seem to find my screenshots I have taken. Does anyone know where to locate them? Go to the screenshots folder and at the top of the window, there should be a "Compatibility Files" button. Press it. Photos magically appear. Anytime you don't see files where they should be, chances are they are just in the Compatibility Files area. It's Vista being more complicated than it's supposed to be. [the actual location of the Compatibility Files section is extremely obscure...which sucks]
