DBru Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 ^Lol, thanks for the support. But nope, it is 100% handbuilt. (Just like everyone else' in this contest will be...well, according to the rules, anyway.)
4rturo Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 More progress: In the middle of the woods Terrain hugging!!
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Jared, what are the RGB color codes you used for Thunderback and Jolt's track and supports? I absolutely LOVE them!
CCJared Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 You can get the colours from my coaster by downloading it at the following link: http://coasterchamber.com/tracks/Jolt_CCJared[NLT1].nlpack Oh and here's an update showing off the completed lifthill and my new environment. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
Xpress Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 You can get the colours from my coaster by downloading it at the following link: http://coasterchamber.com/tracks/Jolt_CCJared[NLT1].nlpack Oh and here's an update showing off the completed lifthill and my new environment. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think. I looks like poo! In the mean time, I'm about halfway done Need to wrap up this first half nice and thrilling-ly, then add in a second half.
Twister II Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 No one got anything to say? Do you mind uploading it to the TPR server? Thanks.
pruje Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Those look really cool. How did you get those "normal" looking hilly/backgrounds? Are those some kind of hack?
CCJared Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 They are custom environments. It's not a hack at all.
Xpress Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Methinks CCJared needs to post a tutorial on how to create an environment, or at least teach me Meanwhile, I'm at my MCBR! I have not a lot left to add, like a thousand feet. Then the custom support work will begin. Sofar, I've got about 20 feet customized, so i still have another 3,080ft. to go...........
haux Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 You don't know the half of my NoLimits judging abilities.
CCJared Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Well it's going to be tough to get it in on time, but I'll sure try my hardest. Even if I don't make it in for the contest I will be releasing this ride for sure.
Koolkid Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 This is mine I honestly believe this meets the target of being a wooden roller coaster riders will fear but enjoy and come off thrilled to the max. I'm not as experienced as many of you and haven't mastered creating glass smooth tracks yet but I really think this meets the criteria set. Enjoy Doom's End final.nltrack
Xpress Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 ^You would be suprised at how a woodie is constructed. Think circles and parabolas
themeparkman25 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 ^^ Just a heads up, but the track needs to be able to pass a tunnel test and I don't think yours does. I tried doing it myself to check and I couldn't get it to work, but just calling to your attention that on the second half of the ride a mountain goes through part of the catwalk.
CCJared Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 It fails with 1 terrain & 1 footer collision. Remember you test woodies with both the wood and steel tunnels. If it passes with one of the two it's a pass.
dr.gumbo Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Here's my rate for Koolkid's ride: What I liked -The twister/terrain approach of the layout. -The pacing was good. -I actually found it quite fun. What could be improved -The layout had no sense of planning i.e. it was a mess. -Some of the elements were far too big. -The supports were an Auto-generated mess. -Lifts/brake runs weren’t straight. -The forces were too unrealistic. -The turns had no lead-ins as far as banking is concerned. -Some elements were taken far too fast. -The track work was quite sloppy with a lot of pumps and inconsistent track shaping. -The terraforming felt rushed. My Verdict Clearly, you aren’t the most experienced contestant in this challenge but it was a refreshing entry none-the-less.
Eric_Smith Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 Announcement In light of two early entrys and other members critiquing them, I, along with all 3 judges, have decided that once you say that "this is my entry", that is your entry.
Xpress Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I now have a little over 1/4 of my track supported. It's Wood Magic, but different, like, realistically different.. I NEED TO HURRY UP!!!!!!!! Actually, I can knock out these supports in just a couple days, if I get at it..
Eric_Smith Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 ^So lets get it done! lol Does anyone have progress shots?
