SFMM fanboy
Sad to see Vulture leave. Reminds me of Ninja at SFMM. Agreeing with SFE, I would, IMO, like to see a sky swat and/or B&M flyer at the park. Sure the flyer won't be called Superman: Something. You wouldn't want 2 supermans in 1 park! WW1 Flying Ace
Vulture is leaving! At least it wasn't too much of a surprise. Maybe (and hopefully!) a B&M flyer or maybe a new mega woodie as a replacement(not sure how well this would work with the terrain though). Weather its a GCI, Gravity Group ( they were starting around this time) or a Intamin Pre-Fab. It seems that the park could use a new wooden coaster. A B&M flyer seems like a more likely and natural fit though. Still excited to see how the masses respond to Vulture's closing and it's replacement. tiger01
If they do put in a GCI, I think theyshould wait until 2005 because it would be after the first GCI with a Fly By was born, so it would be more realistic. It has to have a Fly By! Yeah, i'm a GCI fanboy, even though I have never ridden any.
imawesome1124
I've said this before, but I want a terrain woodie like Boss. A B&M flyer would be nice too.
braztaz
I suspect a B&M flyler. I just hope that you'll give us some more new shots of Vulture before it goes away forever!
MeMeMe
Damn! I loved that ride. Maybe I'll go down there next weekend for my last ride; unfortunately at this point I'll probably be one of the only ones in line, save for the few people who actually paid attention to it. Hope to see a big ride, though!
tdub96
That area where Vulture dived toward the lake below looks like an area suitable for a terrain GCI. But whatever the addtion is, im sure it will be sweet.
CorkscrewFoley
I knew its time would come. I had some fantastic rides on it, and I'm sure whatever they put in its place will be as well received. (Crossing finger for terrain style Intamin pre-fab similar to the Valley Woodie Alton Towers as supposed to get).
coasterdude5
2004 Announcement BUGS BUNNY NATIONAL PARK TO EXPAND IN 2004 Six Flags South Carolina, the premier family fun destination in the Carolinas is proud to announce the expansion of one of its biggest attractions, Bugs Bunny National Park. Guests visiting Six Flags South Carolina will be able to dine with Bugs and his gang at the CHARACTER CAFE. This family style restaurant will serve up kid-friendly cuisine while allowing guests to interact with Bugs Bunny and his friends. Located right across from the CHARACTER CAFE will be TREE SWINGS, giving the little ones a mild but fun ride around a large tree, simulating a ride on a tree swing. The popular Scrambler attraction will be moved and refurbished for the 2004 season as it debuts as SYLVESTER'S SPIN inside the newly-expanded Bugs Bunny National Park. The ride has been operating since 1974. Guests are encouraged to make reservations for the CHARACTER CAFE on Six Flags's website beforehand. 2004 Season Passes are on sale now. The CHARACTER CAFE will be the biggest sit-down restaurant at Six Flags South Carolina when it opens in 2004. The new TREE SWINGS will be a great attraction for the younger ones. coasterdude5
2004 26th Season Welcome to Six Flags South Carolina's 26th Season! It's hard to believe that another year has come and gone. They seem to be flying by! This year's addition isn't a new coaster, but it does show that the park continues to make improvements to the overall guest experience. Bugs Bunny National Park has been a huge hit with the families and I'm sure that this addition will further the area's success. Here is the new entrance to Bugs Bunny National Park. This entrance is at the end of the Gotham City Backlot. There are now no dead ends at the park, except for the Skycoaster and Picnic Grove area. Through a friend that works at the park, I was able to go inside the Character Cafe before it opened for lunch. Costume characters will visit with guests as they dine. Larger parties are welcome! Sylvester's Spin, formerly Scrambler, now sports a black paint job in its new location. I was shocked to see that a large part of Vulture still remained. However, a green and yellow fence borders the ride's station and Scrambler's former area. Hmm... Signing off, Tommy
paradisecoaster
I guess the green and yellow fence is a clue of what to come. Hmm what can you name (probably) a coaster with that goes with green and yellow... (Think Think Think)
Six Flags Enthuseast
Great update! The park looks great, and I'm confident that Vulture's replacement will be.... green and yellow?
liftsifter
I'm rooting for Tatsu. I stand by that.
coasterdude5
2004 26th Season It's been a week since the park opened and I thought I'd go see how far along they've come with Vulture's removal. Rebellion was closed on opening day, but I'm happy to report that it is now open. I see a few pieces of track have been removed. Management has requested that no deconstruction work occur when the park is open. They have a long way to go, though. Kids love Tree Swings! This is a very quiet area of the park when it's not crowded. Signing off, Tommy
liftsifter
What's the purpose of not having construction happen when the park is open? And since the coaster is probably going for scrap, why has it taken this long to take out a few pieces?
paradisecoaster
^Mabye they use the coaster as a blueprint and make a clone of it with a flyer or something, dunno really but that's just an idea that crossed my mind...
coasterdude5
2004 26th Season I had the privilege of meeting with the park's new manager, Landon Mitchell. He's a young guy and seems to have a great vision for the park. It should be interesting to see what he can do in the coming years. Operations at the park have been so-so over the last couple of seasons. Hopefully he can turn that around! Also, I was told by a "source" the reason why Vulture was not removed during the off-season. The coaster came very close to receiving a makeover and reopening with new floorless trains. The ride would have received a new name, dark red / black paint job, and trains that are similar to those found on Vekoma family inverted coasters. However, it was decided that this new Vulture wouldn't be as marketable with floorless coaster, since Batman, V2, and Undertaker all feature "floorless" trains. So the ride will be scrapped and a different attraction will open in its place. Now as far as what kind of attraction will take Vulture's place... no one knows. I have heard that Vulture's station will be reused, but even that is unconfirmed. I've heard everything from a wooden terrain coaster to a B&M standup coaster. It's a large plot of land, I'm sure it's going to be big. You can see an old POV of Vulture in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=486-SYAMGCY This is a sad sight to see. This was one of my favorite views of the ride. Deer Park Plunge's line was short which was surprising for such a hot day. Tidal Wave's line, however, was 90 minutes long. That's Six Flags for ya! braztaz
^I loved it when you did those POV's, and a new medley would be great too. It'd be great seeing Superman, V2 and Bugs Bunny come to life!
6flagsbrad
90 minute wait, and yet there's one person in the boat. True Six Flags park.
djbrcace1234
90 minute wait, and yet there's one person in the boat. True Six Flags park. Sadly, I was thinking the same thing. Or at least some mis use of a flash pass.
WW1 Flying Ace
I would be surprised to see a B&M stand up as i would like to see a GCI terrain to help even out the coaster selection. I'm sure you will make it work though. ^I would like to know how to use a flash pass like that!
AJClarke0912
Yeah, I hope a GCI twister comes in. Another "track-on-top" ride (flyer, impulse, inverted) wouldn't be good in my opinion...they already have two.
Popcorn54
Shame it's gone, Glad you mentioned the floorless trains thought. Looks like it swung quite alot.
