BelizeIt Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 This is a great trip report. Costco is an amazing company, and I should know because I work there. The stores vary in size (usually around 150,000 sqft.) a typical store carries about 4000 items, There are certain items you'll find at all Costco's, and then there are many region specific items that will be at just your store. The store is set up so you'll walk the 'racetrack' Members like to go on Costco 'Treasure Hunts', for those special deals.
ebl Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I don't go to Costco that often anymore, but I do make sure to go during Thanksgiving-to-Christmas time when they carry the Chocolates of the World. That's one treat for myself. Normally I get one jar, but this year I sprung for two. My wife worked for Costco for about a year back in the mid-'90s and learned a lot about the company. They only sell items that they've tested for quality. There ain't no junk at Costco! Eric
printersdevil78 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The Christmas sale at the porn store may be the best photo ever posted on TPR. Good job! On a related note, it would have been even funnier had BJ's been your bulk membership store of choice....
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Think of all the possibilities that come with having a gallon of mayonnaise! and I think somewhere, Tyler just cringed. Funny TR! Enjoyed it and will never see bulk shopping in the same light.
YoshiFan Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Is that the Costco in Montgomeryville, PA? I thought it looked like it but I figured at least 1 other Costco had to look like that one but the Adult World right near by makes me thought it was. If it is, that is my local Costco and one of the nicer ones I have been to (King of Prussia's for example isn't too great). It is such an awesome store and so much better than Sam's Club.
paintballer Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 The pizza at Sam's is so good! I just perfer Sam's club. -Tatum The Pizza is like what...75 cents a slice?! Plus FREE SAMPLES!
the ghost Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Tonight, since I had nothing better to do on a Friday, I went to Costco! The main reason was because I needed to get a bulk case of Red Bull because chances are I’m going to have to pull an all-nighter tomorrow to pull together my portfolio, but also I thought I could share pictures of what a magical place Costco is! Just think, instead of wasting the time to go to Costco for Red Bull and post this TR, you could have been working on your portfolio and then you wouldn't need to pull an all-nighter! Kids. Thats how it works, my school starts in 6 hours and 20 minutes and I have to wake up in 5 hours. I should turn off my computer and go to sleep, but this is more fun. I love staying up late and then being in a bed mood in the morning because it gives me an excuse to be a grouch. BTW Red Bull sucks. Amped is the best drink ever, or the legendary Vault Icy

Yep, Same exact one. I've been to the King of Prussia one too and it sucks. Your brother looks like a massive tool. Thanks, He's quite a punk with his flat top DC hat. He loves to grind ramps on his BMX... yo
dino Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Wow it's so huge in there! I have Costco's near me, but I have yet to step foot inside one...is that a bad thing?
Jds03 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 It's not a bad thing, in fact from the view of the economy it's probably a good thing (biased on the fictional depiction of the future in the movie Idicoracy where everyone in the world shops at Costco) But anyway, Going to Costco is an experience, especially the first time. When i first went i was amazed at how big everything is, and how they sell Lucky Charms in refrigerator boxes.
mcjaco Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Just think, instead of wasting the time to go to Costco for Red Bull and post this TR, you could have been working on your portfolio and then you wouldn't need to pull an all-nighter! Kids. If his portfolio has as many grammatical and spelling errors as this TR, he's screwed either way. I'm off to the Isles of Costco. I hear the beaches are phenomenal.
Jds03 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Hey, at least it's an actual word! Firefox stopped working on my computer so I don't have an easy spell checker right now, and since internet explorer blocks pop-ups from every source, I can't use the TPR one!
carolinacaniac Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 On a side note, there was an article that compared the two companies (Costco and Sam's Club), they mentioned that Costco is Unionized while Sam's isn't, Costco has a lower turnover rate, and their employees are generally paid better with better benefits, yet they are just as profitable as Sam's Club. Granted that was from a couple years ago, and who knows how that may have changed since the economy started to go down the crapper. In regards to store based Pizza, the best I have ever had was from a grocery store in Poulsbo, Washington called Central Market. Cheap by-the-slice pizza that is absolutly amazing!!!! -Gary T.
