SeaWhippet
I don't really see what's so bad about it. I guess it will promote copycats, but if these really are park employees that do it, then I don't see it as that bad. I mean that these people know the ride more than anyone, and from what it looked like, he knew that this one turn is the only part of the ride where it's calm enough to do it. But yes I do agree, they never should have taped it and never should have put it on youtube or any internet source. Things like this should just be like their little secret. What's so bad about it is that if this clueless loser had slipped and fallen between the cars or out of the train, it could bring unfounded/uneducated accusations that Coaster was unsafe and had "killed" a rider. Of course, it would be an appropriate 'thinning of the herd' event, but that's beside the point. He would've deserved the consequences; Coaster would not. More than likely, an investigation would've have concluded that additional safey measures should have been in place so this "rider" could not have gotten out his seat in the first place. That could translate into the addition of seat belts, individual locking lap bars, seat dividers, etc. Who knows, it could've meant the loss of those spectacular one-of-a-kind trains OR the ride itself. Playland's excellent Coaster has operated for 50 years with a stellar safety record. This flounder from the shallow end of the gene pool could've ended that in heartbeat. It's happened many times before where a coaster was ruined ... horribibly ... changed through no fault of its own -- Texas Cyclone, Colossus, Revolution, Rattler ... the list goes on and on. The moral of this story: Remain seated and enjoy your ride.

cathyJ
I don't understand why YouTube won't pull the video. There are a few that I've wanted to watch another time, only to click the link and get a message saying that the video was removed. So it can be done...somehow... Eric I have always heard that really the only reason why You Tube would pull a video off their site is due to copyright violations ( and they can only be done by people listed by You Tube as the owners..not a third party ) and ..oh yeah..porn. Of course the "copyright" thing can extend to homemade clips too. A few years back I uploaded a clip I had shot myself taken at the Winchester, Virginia Apple Blossom Carnival. Imagine my surprise when I got an email from You Tube saying that my homemade clip was removed at the request of WACHOVIA BANK !!!! It seems that my shot of the ferris wheel in the background across the street was a branch of Wachoiva and that right there was enough for the bank to "claim" my clip was a violation of Wachovia's copyrights. Ah..the next day I switched banks !!
RIP Psyclone
This site has little to no tolerance of posting illegal POVs, going in "employees only" areas and taking pics, and any display of evidence of breaking park rules. So, why is this video still up? Is it because it's a cautionary tale?

rgb60
I think that guy in the video looks a lot like Ed Markey. LOL On the serious side, I don't know much about the rules of what can or can't be shown on YouTube. But it seems to me that something depicting illegal activity (what is shown would be in PA, I don't know about BC) should be removed and the park has the authority to request it since it occurred on its property. Very true.the park themsevles have every right in the world to get that clip removed..if they want. And I agree that clips featuring illegal activities should be pulled as well..however we are talking about You Tube. The same site over the years has featured clips of kids as young as 10 smoking cigars and drinking Jack Daniels, 14 year olds doing cigarette ads, people doing coke/pot, young children driving cars and I remember a clip a few years ago ( this one made national news ) that showed two 20 year olds throwing a cat onto a major interstate highway. All of those activities were/are illegal...and yet You Tube didn't pull any of those clips off of their site. Rather it was the same people who had posted the clip in the first place who pulled them and I assume they did so under pressure by the general public...not by You Tube. Being such a small park I doubt they do this practice but I have heard that the "big" guys like Six Flags, Kennywood, Cedar Fair and even Hershey often monitor You Tube to see clips made at their parks and see if their are any violations and such. I know for a fact that many retail chains do this such as Kroger, Kohls , Target, Wegmans, and Macys ( and as I found out myself Wachovia/ Wells Fargo Banks ) as they have over the years pulled many of clips off of You Tube usally because the clip was filmed in one of their stores without the store's OK or that their logo was seen in the clip. Kinda curious..has anyone in that region contacted this park about this clip? Wonder if the park knows about this?
BkkMan13
If he had been smarter, he would at least not have shown his face, now if he comes in again the park will kick him out. He would deserve it though, I wonder if he will do it again and fly off .
hemmy
It's not nearly shocking as the Kennywood employees greasing the rails on Thunderbolt. What do they do that is so shocking? They stand upright leaning over the front of the train, with their knees tucked in between the lap bar. That's how they greased the rails. Or at least that's how they used to do it. Probably not so much anymore. They show this in one of the Kennywood DVDs.

If you go to Page 2 of this thread, and six posts down, SeaWhippet has answered your question about it. Thanks !!! Don't know how I overlooked that. However I wonder how Playland's Laura Balance tried to get the clip removed in the first place? Shooting an email to You Tube? Ah..that will NOT work. In order to get a clip removed from You Tube one actually has to write and/or fax You Tube and then You Tube contacts you (or your company ) by regular mail/fax or phone call to make sure you really are actually part of the company in question. Laywers and affidavits are involved too and its done by phone calls and regular mail...not emails. All of this is to prevent a third party such as you or I the power to get a video clip removed off of You Tube simply because WE don't approve. downunder
Someone does that and next season, no more buzz bars, it will be El Toro like, cut my circulation off below the waist restraints, maybe they'll throw the leg irons from SROS at SFNe as well. If you think that's bad, this guy is genuinely psychotic (it looks like he is actually standing up), having ridden this coaster in August I would not be doing what he's doing. snoflake15
When I was on Goliath at SFMM some mad woman in her 50s who looked like a Woodstock reject was almost standing up on the lift hill. I was bricking it cos if she fell she was hitting me first. Why can't people just ride them normally?
