Homer Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Weird ads have been in the forum category bar. Theme Park Review cialis, Coaster Eventspsychic reading, and Members Only!garden flowers lawn . Each of the weird text links to some weird website, the sites; http://nancyshp.t35.com/ -Theme Park Review cialis http://psychic-reading.741.com/ -Coaster Eventspsychic reading http://green-shop.741.com/ -Members Only!garden flowers lawn Did TPR get hacked or something? Theres no way you could edit the forum category titles unless your an admin, I assume an admin account got hijacked or something? EDIT: Ugh, another one, and its under the description for Roller Coaster Video Games:
robbalvey Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 ^ Woah....that's really bizarre! Just checked the files and logs on the FTP site and nothing has been altered. Are you SURE this wasn't some kind of weird Spyware thing? Has anyone else seen this? --Robb "Whatever it is, there's no indication that our files have been altered in any way at all." Alvey
DenDen Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I get those wierd ads too. I can't upload a screenshot, since that part of the reply form is missing.

robbalvey Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Ok, what browser are you all using? Here's the deal. NONE of the files or settings on my server has changed AT ALL since I put this forum on the new server. So nothing on the site has been altered. It *HAS* to be either a virus, spyware, or something that is affecting your browser! As far as I can tell, nothing on the TPR server has been changed, hacked, or anything! I'm willing to help if I can, but I can't see anything that would be causing this. --Robb
robbalvey Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Ok, I have just moved this to the main board so more people can see it. Can EVERYONE please RESPOND to this and tell me if you are seeing these ads or if anything weird is going on! And if so, please let me know what browser you are using! Thanks. --Robb
DenDen Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 BINGO. Something is effecting FireFox/Mozilla browsers? I don't see the strange things in IE.
ChrisFL Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Im using FireFox and everything looks fine here Captain! Edit: Ok, no it isn't, that's weird, I have the same stuff on mine now...hella weird (and I don't use the term "hella" very much!)
Not For Sale Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I usually use Opera, but I was on Firefox. Opera isn't affected. Firefox and Safari is.
ChrisFL Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Here's the source code I retrieved from FireFox in one of the sections, not sure if this will help or not: Theme Park Review
robbalvey Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Looks like it's NOT TPR, but Mozzilla. From the offical website: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/ As you've no doubt noticed, we've been down for a few days. We took the site down to investigate an attack on the site. It appears that a part of Spread Firefox was hacked in an attempt to use it to send out spam. I didn't think it was anything done to our site. When I see 97% of people coming to TPR that use IE, I stick to it! --Robb
robbalvey Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Anyone else seeing this or does the forum seem to be working fine?
DenDen Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 now the ads disappeared and the uploader is back. I'm frantically trying to get IE working again. LOL
Stitch Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Odd glitch I got, an old topic being shown as the newest  Weird Huh
robbalvey Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 ^ Yeah, I just did some messing with the SQL databases just to make sure there was no hacking or anything, so that may have caused that glitch. --Robb
SharkTums Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Yeah Stitch...I got that one for about 5 minutes then it was all back to normal...I'm guessing that's just some weird Lypha issue! Elissa "what a crazy night!" Alvey
the_rock401 Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I saw said questionable advertisements today a little after 1:00 PM CDT, and I use IE. Links to very questionable websites were jammed into the RC Video Games, similar to above.
robbalvey Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Can people also respond if they are NOT getting these ads? When it's only the people who are getting them that respond, I assume that EVERYONE (but me!) is seeing these! Even a simple "Not seeing them" response is fine. Thanks for your help! --Robb "Trying to figure if it's people's browsers or TPR!" Alvey
Stitch Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I am not getting any ads, I use IE and Norton Firewall.
