montezooma Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 ^Yes I did know that, but that is not the ride that interests me. It is Katapul that I love!!!!!
lucazferrazCBMR Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 ^^ So come down here to ride Katapul! If you like Schwarzkopfs, you'll like it here. We ha a Looping Star, a Jet Star II and the Katapul. Â We also used to have an alpen blitz and a Double Looping, which was sold to Dorney Park under the name "Laser". Â You don't like wood coasters?
ECZenith Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Man, that paint job is pretty nice! And coming from someone who doesn't hate on SLCs, you guys in Brazil will really enjoy this one, be sure to take photos of the coaster in action!
KDCOASTERFAN Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ^^ So come down here to ride Katapul! If you like Schwarzkopfs, you'll like it here. We ha a Looping Star, a Jet Star II and the Katapul. Â We also used to have an alpen blitz and a Double Looping, which was sold to Dorney Park under the name "Laser". Â You don't like wood coasters? Â Back in the day Katapul started out as King Kobra at KD here in virginia,it was only one of two coasters in that park's history that I never got a chance to ride. Â As for why some SLC's & Boomerangs are rougher than others: it has to do with maintenance, and with the way the wheel systems of the trains are designed/engineered.
lucazferrazCBMR Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 KDCOASTERFAN, Â Anytime you want, I'll be honored to ride Katapul with you and show you the brazilian parks. Very sad you never got the chance to ride it when it was close to you. It's a pretty good ride! Â Â
DiSab Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 That's a fantastic paint job. It's a shame parks here in the US don't often (if ever) take that kind of detail in ride colors. Â I have yet to ride a Boomerang, but I've been on Kings Island's Invertigo several times. That's not a bad ride, despite how many people dislike it. I think it's one of the most intense rides in the park.
Marcio Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Man, that paint job is pretty nice! And coming from someone who doesn't hate on SLCs, you guys in Brazil will really enjoy this one, be sure to take photos of the coaster in action! Â Yeah! We are very proud about this SLC... It's the first inverted coaster here in Brazil! (BTW, we already had a Pinfari XP56, but it was sold to a foreign park. ) Â I'm sure this SLC will result in a great progress in the Brazilian theme park industry. Beto Carrero World is currently working on the theme of this coaster. Â Tests may start later this month.
KDCOASTERFAN Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 KDCOASTERFAN, Anytime you want, I'll be honored to ride Katapul with you and show you the brazilian parks. Very sad you never got the chance to ride it when it was close to you. It's a pretty good ride!    I'm suprised that the park is able to take such good care of it when one of KD's main reasons for it's removal way back in 1986/87 was due to maintenance issues as well as overall maintenance costs.  Hopefully the new SLC you're recieving down there will run reliably & smoothly. The first half of the course isn't all that bad but from the sidewinder on it get's pretty rough but if they'd just remove those darn ear flaps from the top of the restraints then maybe it'll be more tolerable.  The invertigo uses a similar restraint but is suprisingly smooth(especially when new) mainly due to the re-design of the wheel assemblies, unfortunately we're about to loose the invertigo at SFA in MD. thanks to all of the malfunctions it's had in recent years....I'm crossing my fingers that perhaps KD will purchase it,give it a good rehab & stick it in the park somewhere but I'm not about to hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
DiSab Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Beto Carrero World is currently working on the theme of this coaster. Â Hmm... Looks to me like they're going to a fire theme.
TATSUFAN Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 GREAT COASTER! Â IT'S NICE TO SEE A VEKOMA SLC COASRTER IN BRAZIL.
MixedDrink Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 if they'd just remove those darn ear flaps from the top of the restraints then maybe it'll be more tolerable. Â There are new vest restraints on the newer SLCs, they don't have those stupid ear flaps. They are also supposed to be smoother than the earlier trains because all the wheels touch the track. Huzzah! I hope Wonderland gets them next year for Flight Deck. Â - Basil
Marcio Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Hmm... Looks to me like they're going to a fire theme. Â Yeah, you're right! It will have something related to "fire"... Â The big announcement will be late this month on a tourism event here in Brazil. Â But Beto Carrero World has already confirmed that the trains will "fly" over water and the park will use tons of rocks to create an artificial waterfall / lake. Â
lucazferrazCBMR Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 The park just announced the name: FireWhip. It's was named in honor to Beto Carrero, park founder who died in february this year. He was a cowboy and used to present circus shows with his whip. Â The pre-opening, for the press is gonna happen on december 7 and the oficial openning for the public will happen on december 13.
Crazy4Coasters! Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Yummy!!! That coaster makes me think about Starbrust!!! YUM!
Airtime&Gravity Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 ^^That is probably one of the coolest names for a coaster. Â This coaster looks really nice, for a SLC anyways, and it is amazing how a it seems to have made the park so well known.(well here anyways.) Hopefully the park can continue to expand and do well, because it looks like a really nice place to spend a day.
DiSab Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 ^^That is probably one of the coolest names for a coaster. Â Agreed. I absolutely love the name. I wonder if they'll rig fire effects during the ride a la X2...? If not the paint scheme will do it justice enough. Â And did someone say that they'll have ponds and waterfalls under the track? If so that'll make this thing look even better. Can't wait to see it when everything's done. Â One thing I do want to know, though... I'm not sure if this has been brought up or not yet, but what trains are they going to run on the ride? Are they going with the old trains from Blackout (having them refurbished), or did the park purchase a set of the new SLC trains like those on Great Nor'Easter?
lucazferrazCBMR Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 As far as I know, they'll use the same trains, just refurbished. Â They've put the first car in exhibition here in Rio during a Tourism Convention. Â I took a picture on it. The girl next to me is Juliana, Beto Carrero's daughter. Really nice person and park's Markting director.
spaceace12 Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Does the headache I normally get when I ride a SLC come with that picture? The paint job looks nice though.
MixedDrink Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I hope it's nicely refurbished, you know, having the wheels touch the track at all times would be nice. Those restraints look slightly less painful that Flight Deck's at least.
lucazferrazCBMR Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I trust this park. They have a Vekoma Corkscrew With Bayern Curve that doesn't give a headache. Because they really care about keeping the wheels close to the track. So, they're coasters run pretty smooth.
MixedDrink Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 ^ That's great! Anyone who's ever ridden Flight Deck at CW knows just how painful SLCs can be. Darien Lake's Mind Eraser? Erm, I'm avoiding that one.
sfkk339 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 How about Kentucky Kingdoms SLC? That ones probly the worst of them all!
