Heard news that the famous collapsing bridge on the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood will be fixed up, and will be collapsing again next month. . I'll certainly be there to see it fall again!

On a kind of similar subject, the studio tour guides were asked for suggestions in order to make the tour more interesting until New York Street is repaired and Kong's replacement has arrived. Let's see what many surprises they have in store for us Theme Park Reviewers and other guests!

Went out of commission in March 2006, but it will collapse again, August 2008 =D

This was always an "eh" effect for me; perhaps because the bridge didn't collapse fast enough (I guess hydraulics only work so fast).

My last time on the tour was in August 2005, not long before it shut down, and I remember thinking that if the bridge could fall faster, not only would it be more realistic, but guests might actually get a bit of airtime, too!

^yeah, replace the hydrualics with airbags. Kaboosh! It's always been kinda cool to watch though. Especially when it puts itself back together. Just like Bruce doing the backstroke (In case you don't know, that's the Jaws part)

I'm actually glad it's coming back. I felt the tram tour has really been cut down quite a bit from when I remember it even in the mid 80s.

I can recall a time when there was -

- Landslide boulders

- Battlestar Galactica

- Flash Flood

- Colapsing Bridge

- Red Sea Parting

- Submarine Torpedo

- Jaws

- Six Million Dollar Man tunnel

And then came Kong and Earthquake. I feel like I'm leaving a couple random things out....

I don't remember how much of that all overlapped in time, but I do remember all of them being at least somewhat cool.

The Galactica routine was so wonderfully cheesy.

"Foolish humans! You have blundered into a Cylon battlezone!"

FYI:

There is also a new Norman Bates character at the Bates Motel that puts a dead body in the trunk of a car and follows the tram with the "Norman Bates stare."

What's funny is I took a picture of them doing "work" on the bridge when I was there yesterday. Totally didn't know that's what it was for!
