Six Flags America or Six Flags New England?

Recommended Posts

OK! For the next summer, I will most likely be going to Six Flags Great Adventure! While there, we are going to going to try to hit up more parks! But out of those parks I can't decide witch parks to go to!

The parks that I get to choose from are Six Flags America and Six Flags New England.

As a little side note if I go to Six Flags America, I might be able to go to Busch Gardens Europe. If I go to Six Flags New England, I will be able to go to Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags New England more days.

Number of trips in the time there:

Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags New England:

2-3 days at Six Flags Adventure

2-3 days at Six Flags Adventure

Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags America, and Busch Gardens Europe

2-3 Days at Six Flags Great Adventure

1-2 *Probably 1 day* Six Flags America

1 Day at Busch Gardens Europe

I'd vote for SFA and BGE. You'll have already done SFGAdv, and SFNE and SFA have so-so reputations. At least with the SFA trip, you're decently close to BGE and a new credit in Griffon. Depending on time, etc., there's an off chance for Water Country USA and King's Dominion close by...with Dominator.

Either way, hope it's a good set of trips.

What a dilema. RoS at SFNE is amazing and a MUST ride (at some point in your life). If you hit SFNE you could also hit LC and Boulderdash. Over the course of a week you could easilly hit SFGA, then the PA parks (Hershey/knoebels) and SFNE.

SFNE is my home park - and honestly - RoS is a MUST (at some point).

With all that said - KD and BGW are full of amazing quality rides.

If I were in your shoes - I'd do SFGA, KD, and BGW - there are just too many quality coasters not to check them out. And with the addition of ET at SFGA - it's a no brainer. ET is the wooden version of RoS and are very similar in terms of EJECTOR air.

Have a great trip and post some pics when it's all said and done.

I agree with SFjunkie2010 besides Superman there isn't any other rides that really stand out. Busch Gardens on the other hand has four quality roller coasters, and it is a great park to just walk around in. Also Kings Dominion has a few good rides and now you can ride Dominator now that its open.

I've been to all of the parks you're considering and that's a really tough decision, especially if you've never been to either park.

Both parks don't really have much besides their different S:ROS coasters. I liked both of the S:ROS's, but the one at SFNE is much better than the one at SFA. Either way, you're in for a good ride with lots of airtime. From my experience, SFNE has longer lines than SFA, but I've only been to each park once, so I might be a little off.

Busch Gardens Europe is a really nice park. All of the coasters are pretty good. I was expecting a little bit more from Apollo's Chariot and Alpengeist, but everything else was much better than I had expected.

I'm guessing, from the way you've described your trip, that you're doing a family trip out east and you're trying to talk your family into doing a few parks on the way. Busch Gardens is a really good 'family' park, because they have fun things to do for everyone, even if somebody in your group doesn't like big rides.

I hope your trip works out for you. Have fun.

SFA all the way! There is BGE and KD near SFA, so if you don't like SFA (which hardly anyone does but me) just go down to KD for the rest of the day, then you'll be closer to BGE for the next day and will get to spend more time at that park! If you go to SFA, I recomend getting there early and head straight to Batwing, the lines for that coaster reach up to 45 min to 1 hr long. Then go to Superman and Joker's Jinx. Those also have pretty long lines all day. The rest of the park is a walk-on.

OK! I am starting to think that people aren't really getting the story! So just follow the time line

1) *For sure* Six Flags Great Adventure

2) Either Six Flags America/ Six Flags New England

3) If I go to Six Flags America *we will be most likely be going to Busch Gardens Europe* If we go to Six Flags New England *probably Hershey*

4)If we go to Six Flags Great Adventure/Six Flags America/Busch Gardends then we will probably go to Kings Dominion

So just look at this it shows the parks and in order

Trip 1:

Six Flags Great Adventure/Six Flags Amercia/Busch Gardends Europe/Kings Dominion

Trip 2:

Six Flags New England/Six Flags Great Adventure/Hershey Park

So I hope that helps!

Well - Trip 1 involves less driving with a mixed bag of rides and medocre parks.

Trip 2 involves a lot more driving - a lot more - SFGA to BGW is a haul.

You may want to consider waiting until the trip itself and see who has the best weather. The weather at SFNE and Hershey is always different than VA given they are hundreds of miles away. Plenty of hotel options so that isn't an issue.

I'd wait and follow the better weather (final answer - lol)

Basically we are looking at SFNE/HP versus SFA/BGE/KD. That's a tough one, IMO. If you want to get the most credits possible then go with trip 1, but if you want the kick a** coasters go with number 2. IMO, Superman at SFNE and Storm Runner are both better than anything at SFA, BGE, or Kings Dominion. ...and that's saying a lot because BGE is my second favorite park.

On a side note, since you have 4 parks listed on trip 1, why not add either Dorney or Knoebels to the other trip.

^ I think Dorney and Knoebels would be out of the way if they went south - and to be honest - ET is just as good as RoS - and on some levels even better. I know they are different - but when it comes to ejector air, laterals, and helixes - they are both in a class by themselves imo.

Here is what i think you're best experience would be (and i live right there)

Six Flags Great Adventure

Dorney Park or Hershey Park or even better, BOTH!

then

Kings Dominion

Busch Gardens Europe.

It's about 1.5 hours from SFGADV to Dorney, and about 1.25 hours from Dorney to Hershey. Then it's about 5-6 hours (traffic pending) to KD and another hour from KD to BGE.

That's what id do personally. I think you could squeeze all five parks in no problem. If you are only looking for coasters dorney isn't more then a half a day's stay. Knoebels is i think too far out of the way, they have two world class woodies, but i would wait for flying turns to open up and hit it up on another east coast tour. Word is Fahrenheit is much better then Storm Runner, and possibly the best Intamin out there (i've heard it from major coaster buffs) and i haven't heard much argument against it being the best Intamin that goes upside down (as in second to SROS at SFNE). SFNE would be way to far out of you're way tho. I would not drive that far for the park unless you are already in the area.

Actually, here is my real question.

Do you like Steel Coasters or Wood Coasters better?

I'd have a much better plan for you if you were a wood buff.

If you like wood i would say go SFGADV-Knoebels-Hershey-Lakemont Park-Waldameer-Cedar Point-Kings Island.

That's a pretty nice looking row of parks, and you could always skip lakemont and waldameer if you aren't as interested in those two.

SKIP SFA-

Other than Batwing and Roar, nothing too exciting- and they've had some serious operational difficulties all season.

Two weeks ago I went to the park and NOTHING was running- Nary a SINGLE coaster (2Face had a GOOD excuse!) but NONE of the other rdies were operating ( I was there a GOOD three hours and rode NOT ONE COASTER.)

Save yourself the time- and the waste of money there.

It won't be out of the way if he decides to do the SFNE/SFGAdv/Hershey trip.

As for the ET and Superman comparison, it really doesn't matter since he has Great Adventure listed for either trip. But I agree, they are the two best coasters I've been on.

^I get in for free though! SFMM season pass. I really only want to go to this park for Joker's Jinx,Roar,Batwing, and SRoS

A better version of Joker's Jinx can be ridden at Kings Dominion. Roar is mediocre at best, and the SROS at SFA is a joke...

I spent about 3 hours tops at the park to ride the coasters and that was it. I see no reason for me to ever return there. The park is run down, the ride placement makes no sense...Batwing?!...I would highly suggest NOT going to SFA.

what everyone is trying to get at is that you would have a much better time at Hershey then SFA. And why would you drive all the way up to SFNE and then return to Hershey? Thats like 100$ in gas wasted. I dont see why you cant go SFGADV-Hershey-KD-BGE. Roar is mediocre, you can ride a JJ Clone that's better and well maintaned at KD, Batwing is meh, no thrill really, you'll have much more fun on Superman Ultimate Flight at SFGADV, and SROS is awful compared to Nitro and Apollo's Chariot. Wild One is the only respectable ride at SFA, and it's only that way if you're a fan of the old out and back rides.

Plus you might get stabbed at SFA, so it's really not worth going

Honestly I'd take Busch Gardens and Six Flags America. Six Flags New England has Superman (my second favorite coaster), Batman (a pretty fun coaster), some other fun coasters (Pandemonium, Cyclone, Thunderbolt), a great water park, and some really good flats.

Busch Gardens has my favorite coaster (Apollo), a dive machine that I've heard is really good, and three other pretty good coasters.

Also, while not in the same class as SFNE's Superman from what I've heard, getting that Superman as a bonus along with Apollo is really a treat.
