CoasterExpert13
My best friends and I went to Cedar Point to escape Pittsburgh for a day (not that there's anything wrong with Pittsburgh!) I would have to say that this trip to Cedar Point was the most fun I've had out off all my visits (Probably because all my friends didn't chicken out this time and actually came lol). Out of the 6 of us, 3 of my friends never been to Cedar Point...so I was really amped! But... First off...Not So Good Things That Happened: While waiting in the "Maverick" lines for some 40 minutes we finally reach the stairs leading onto the station platform. We all noticed that the lines had stopped moving for at least 10 minutes. We then happened to look and noticed that all the coaster trains that were on the brakes (either 3-4 or more....can't remember) were empty and the ride ops were closing the restraints and clipping the seat belts. Everyone initially thought that the ride broken down....but that was far from the case. About another 10 minutes later, we found out that while the coaster train was navigating it's course, so dumb chick took out her cell phone and called someone. While she was talking, it flew out of her hands and hit the girl behind her right in the face. OHHH my lord the girl's face was leaking blood...They bandaged her whole head...all you could see was her mouth. She couldn't even walk out the station, she was weak and crying. They had to carry her down to the exit. The girl who did it was expressionless. Who knows what's going to happen to her. I was pissed for the victim! I mean seriously, I've heard and seen many dumb things in my life, but talking on a cell-phone while riding high speed Roller Coaster takes the cake! I hope they super-glue the cell phone to her ear and make her listen to CP's automated message about park policy for 8 hours straight...Then banned her from the park for however long they choose to and possibly some legal action! Earlier I rolled over to "The Dragon's Inn" for a bite to eat. After spending $11.00+ for a Hot dog, fries and a small Pepsi, I went to put ketchup on my food when some butt wipe knocked over my drink and just walked away. However, the nice guy at the register gave me a large Pepsi for free. There was a lot of line jumping but The CPPD (Cedar Point Police Department...not sure if that's the real name) was not going for it. I have never seen so many people ejected from a park in one day (Majority were kids on high school field trips). Other than the above, I had a blast at CP! Let me tell you, Maverick+front seat= by far the best ride in the whole park to me! I had no idea that little coaster (compared to the big guns of the park) packed such a forceful punch! It was fast, smooth but it had parts that threw me out of my seat. The launch under the station is insane! I loved it, and I can see why they removed the 3rd and final inversion! We rode it mid-day about 5:30pm, though the lines were extremely long, they were moving pretty fast, we originally waited less than an hour but then the "Cell Phone" incident happened. The rest of the coaster lines weren't bad either except TTD...we skipped it because the wait was past 2 Hours. I like the park staff a lot, they were really nice and helpful! I talked to a lot of park staff because they would say "Oh, you're apart of Theme Park Review, Awesome!" The guy at "Calypso" (whose name was also Dave) was really cool, he said that he was from "CoasterForce.com". Also, it was extremely clean at CP and I'm not surprised as it always is. We pretty much hit all the coasters/rides except: MaxAir: All my friends were scared of it...and I didn't want to ride it by myself. Skyhawk: We have one at Kennywood (Sling Shot) although not as tall...that was the reason my friends past this one up. Magnum: Rode it last May..It wasn't bad, just a bit boring for me. Cedar Creek Mine Jr. Gemini- we didn't ride this because.....well, yeah. Woodstock Express Wildcat: For some reason it was closed all day. Top Thrill Dragster: The lines for this speed demon were extremely long all day. When we finally got around to riding it, the wait was more that 2 hours. My friends didn't feel like waiting that long. As much as I love TTD, I didn't feel like waiting that long either. After we left the park, we stayed at Breakers Express before heading home the next day. Nice, clean little place...but what pissed me off was that there was a sign that said the Pool closes at 11pm. Well I guess no one cared because a group ranging from about 15-20 people (Kids/Adults/Teenagers/some looked like college kids) were splashing around and making noise in that damn pool until almost 3am. My window just happen to be by the pool. Ah, but I had a great time at CP and we'll be going back July 12th, the day before my 22nd birthday. Thanks for reading, if you did! lol Enjoy the pictures! The End! Goodbye Cedar Point, see you in July! Everybody seemed to be leaving around 8pm. The park closed at 10pm. Raptor as it began to get dark out. Took a shot of the beach while in line for Wicked Twister! A little bit closer now.... How I always seem to miss this ride, is beyond me! Next Stop: Wicked Twister! Bill & Ocean Motion! The ride op looked pissed as we got on. He only let the ship do 3 funky swings and then stopped the ride (no joke)! This is why I don't let people take pictures with my camera lol! Bill didn't even wait for us to get into position. Jeff wasn't even paying attention, while I'm caught doing some weird kick lol. My peeps, Justin, Kristen, Jeff, Chrissy & Bill as the day was winding down. As we made our way back to the front of the park, I saw some construction going on. Everybody in our group looked at each other, then Power Tower, then each other again and just shook our heads lol...words didn't need to be exchanged! A train just reaching the top...It almost didn't make it! I think this is a weird but cool picture...I was trying to catch the train during the descent but this is what I got! TTD through the trees! Random shot of TTD, snoopy and some birds! The girl in the blue shirt, second row was screaming her head off and that was way before the launch! Same shot just a bit closer! TTD with a hint of Mantis in the background! Chrissy & Bill stop for a quick pose in front of Gemini! Gemini & Octopus! Next Stop: Gemini! Another Highlight of the day, smooth and enjoyable as usual! Maybe this is the reason they opted out! Skyhawk...I so wanted to ride this but none of my friends felt up to it after being banged up on Mean Streak... We survived it though (some of us left with bruises)...Nice looking coaster though! We only rode it at the insistence of Justin (Right). He claims that he feels safer on wooden coaster...Yea, well not after this one! And yet...we are heading over to ride it lol! The ride looks nice, but It feels like you're being tossed around in an old barrel. Parts of Maverick and the Garbage compactor that is Mean Streak. I snapped this before I sat front seat! The ride was insane! A cool shot of Maverick from inside the station! This was taken right when we found out about the "Cell Phone" incident. Kristen & Bill were pissed because we had to wait a bit longer...Jeff (middle) was trying to keep from laughing at their facial expressions! Bill, wondering if waiting in Maverick's lines is worth it (he later confirmed it was)! Random Maverick shot! My humps! My humps...my humps...my humps! Train heading back into the station! Jeff, Kristen & Bill doing the Cedar Point version of the Captain Morgan pose! Kristen, Jeff & myself doing our best line dance! One of the best parts of the ride! Next Stop: Maverick, Finally! The top highlight of the day! Found these in some log-themed gift shop. Just thought that there were cool. Myself, after the extraordinary ride that is Millennium Force! The stuff dog was the work of "Guess My Weight". The guy thought I was 195 Lbs...Psshh, 174 Lbs. pimpin', thanks for the dog! Almost time! Kristen entertaining us with her best touch-down dance! Bill, Kristen and Jeff ready for their ride on MF! This was Bill's first ride on MF and although you can't tell, he was scared sh#tless! A very colorful display of MF, Mantis & TTD...taken in MF's lines! I think I got this same shot last year... Bill, Justin & Jeff's heads can be seen below as they admire MF! Actually they were trying to talk Justin into riding (but he held his ground)! Millennium Force from afar! The 2nd and 3rd drops through the trees! Looks like an upside down Nike check! I love this picture! The huge over-banked curve trough the trees! Next Stop: Millennium Force! One of the days many highlights! The back half of Mantis! Here you can somewhat get the idea of how crowded the park was! Many people complain that it's rough or that it hurts "The gonads"..but I've never had an uncomfortable ride on Mantis! Next Stop: Mantis! One of my favorite rides in the whole park! This Hot-Dog basket cost $7.69 and with the Pepsi, came to a total of $11.28...and I thought Six Flags was high. This small Pepsi (which looks rather big) was $3.59...Took this picture right before some butt wipe knocked it over, looked at me and then walked away. There was a pretty nice crowd getting food from here. The Dragon's Inn...finally some food! Wildcat for some reason was closed all day...I like this compact little ride! Bill wondering how the ride is gonna feel. Random Iron Dragon shot! TTD, Power Tower & Iron Dragon posed, as always for a picture! Random corkscrew shot with random folks! In fact, NO ONE rode it lol! Crowded midway and Corkscrew. Not to many people rode this lawn ornament! Calypso was a fun ride and the ride op Dave (not pictured) from Coasterforce.com was really cool! Blue Streak! I always manage to pass this up. but we rode it this time. Very enjoyable ride! (Group photo #2) same peeps with Justin on the end! (Group photo #1) Before we rode Raptor. Peeps in order: Chrissy, Bill, Jeff, Kristen & myself (Notice I'm the token Black Guy lol j/k) Random shot! Cobra Roll Goodness! Another shot of Raptor...some of the shops have changed since last year. A shot of Raptor's mid-course! First stop: Raptor! Ahh...I can smell the green paint from here! My friends Chrissy & Bill pose before we smack up rides! Jeff, My friend Kristin and myself (in the middle of saying something!) My Best Buds: Bill, Justin & Jeff (It was Bill & Justin's fist time at CP) Millennium Force seen as we are approaching the park...and some random Ford Focus. Just arriving! ElToroExtreme
Awesome Trip Report! Glad you had a blast! One thing tho, I loved Maverick in the front but IMO the back is where its at!
CoasterExpert13
^Lol, when I go back in July, I'll be sure to try the back seats! I loved the front seat though, not just because the ride is awesome in the front but, the visuals were awesome!
ElToroExtreme
Lets just say your rear end doesn't touch the seat till the bottom of the first drop and the air hills are insane!
slither37
Great TR. I sincerely hope that the girl that got hit by the cell phone is ok. That is insane that someone would try to use a cell phone in the middle of this ride. imagine getting hit in the head with a cell phone that is moving 70 MPH. Next time you are there, try eating at Midway Market by Raptor. Somewhat better food for just a little more than you paid for the hot dog, fries and drink. Plus it is air conditioned, is all you can eat and unlimited refills on beverages. I usually eat there and can get away with some fries and ice cream the rest of the day. Dougerz
Glad you were able to have a fun time at the point. I can't believe that someone was that dumb to use a cell phone on a ride like Maverick. No doubt there will be some nastiness going around with that. With the wait for TTD, it sounded like when I was at SFGA on a slow day when there were school groups in the park. Alternatively, Cedar Point does run more than one train at a time on Dragster while they were just doing one for Kingda Ka. Great trip report and love the pictures of Raptor. They were great shots. lil jimmy norton
I think Wildcat was closed because of the incident a few days ago. I love how the coasters come so close to the midway, it makes for great pictures. I hope the girl who got hit in the face is ok, some people can be so dumb and inconsiderate. Voyage_luvr
I can't believe someone was freakin' talking on a cell phone during a roller coaster ride. How stupid can you be? The only time I've ever used my phone was in the brake-run because the ride had broken down and I got bored, but most of the time I keep my phone in a bag or in a locker. If I was the girl that got hit in the face I would punch the dumb girl that had the cell phone and see how she liked getting hit in the face. Anyways, beautiful and glad you had a good time. You took some very good Millennium Force pictures, I must say.

PKI Jizzman
Dude, I'm with you. I haven't had a bad ride on Mantis yet! It's one of my favorite rides in the park as well, and the front row has some really nice forces! Mmm...Maverick, front seat...that's pretty freakin' awesome. I'm not sure wether I would choose the front or the back. The back has extreme insane airtime moments that feel more powerful than the front, but the front has awesome views! They both have different times where the airtime is stronger here in the front, weaker here in the back....stronger here in the front, weaker in the back here. I can't decide! Awesome report, some really cool photos, looks like you saturated and messed with the colors on some...they turned out great! -JZ
TC Ridesalot
OK, so were making a trip up to CP this fall and I need some help with a couple of things. First, I'm about 5'10'' and around 260 but love coasters (some say I should join ACE)(just kidding). I know most B&M's have big boy seats in the 4th and 5th rows. Do some of the other coasters have big boy seats at CP? I have fit in every woodie I have tried to ride but wondered about Maverick and TTD. Also, is there any really nice hotels near the park? BTW great photos they only highten the anticipation of the trip! They did their job!
FeelTheFORCE
^ I know that on their website it says that TTD doesn't fit guests that have a waist bigger than 40". You're best bet is to just try the test seat at the entrance.

BTW great photos they only heighten the anticipation of the trip! They did their job! Thanks! I'm not to sure about the big boy seats....When I went to CP last may and rode TTD, a guy had to leave the ride because he couldn't get the seat belt to clip...but he looked way more than 260. That same day, the same thing happened to another guy on Millennium Force. As for the Hotels, We stayed at Breakers Express last May. Since we had no problems, we stayed their for this trip and when we head back in July, we'll be staying there again. It's cheap but not tacky, we paid $70 bucks last year but this year we paid about $110 because we stay during memorial day week. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable enough and they have a very nice pool area outside. Now as far as food goes, they say they have a continental breakfast...more like Krispy Creme donuts you have to pay for but they give you free coffee, so bring your own food unless your going to get breakfast elsewhere...but they do have vending machines in the hallway of every floor. Thanks to all who commented! I had so much fun that I can't even begin to describe which is why I going back July 12th! As for the "Cell Phone Incident"...There where a lot of people who wanted to smack the Verizon sense back into that girl. The girl that got hit looked something awful and I'm sure her parent will be taking legal action after that one...you should have saw her face. TC Ridesalot
^^and ^ I guess I have to go on a diet and drop a few to get down to the 40 inch waist (LOL). Thank you both for the info, I wasn't for certain how the hotels would be close to the park. You have to ride Maveric if your going to travel up there so I guess it's celery and carrots for the next couple of months.

I forgot, Breakers Express is on Cedar Point Dr., about 3-5 minutes from the park. Also There are a billion other hotels (some extremely worth the money) on the main stretch of road, right before you cross an over pass that has a sign above that reads "Cedar Point...Use both Lanes"....It's the main drag where Perkins, Walmart, Meijer, Max & Erma's (etc) is. SFOGdude25
Nice TR, and great photos! Here's a tip for riding Mean Streak: Ride up front. I had a fairly smooth ride in the front of Mean Streak the last time I was at CP. I found it kind of funny how on that ride, I was having a pleasant ride, while two girls in the row behind me were being jackhammered. Glad you had a great time. I remember when I would have neck pains getting off of that ride, lol. I rode Mean Streak in 2003 and it was alright from what I remember. I rode it again in 2004 and it was the smoothest it's ever been. Then I rode it May 2007 and I felt like I was being tossed around in a cheap whirlpool dryer. This year, it felt like a 89' Dodge Dynasty running out of gas while hitting a telephone pole!
hemmy
I always have amazing days at Cedar Point, although it seems every time I am there not 1 cloud is in the sky. Also, some of those pictures with the high color contrast were just amazing
