I'm predicting it will be covered because of CGA's "friendly neighbors", so it's the CMFT.

Anyways, I'm happy to see vertical construction to start this early and a record breaker is something that CGA needs so it can put the park back on the map.

Alright guys, here's a useless, cool fact for the night:

If you count all of CGA's coasters, existing and removed, Au13 will be the park's 13th coaster. While that may have not been part of the plans of the marketing team, it definitely all works out, a pretty cool coincidence!

I feel the Prudential Turn should have a big sign of a middle finger and right underneath should say something along the lines of "What? I can't hear you over our new wooden coaster."

As far as the records, I'm guessing they are going for the regional records of Tallest, Fastest and Longest(is it longer than Roar?) woodie in NorCal.

It was supposed to be shorter (in length) than the Grizzly & Roar, I think it was 3125' long.

My vote is for longest coaster tunnel; I think they will tunnel of a fairly long section of the ride, to break a record. My reasons are the following:

1. Prudential randomly and without explanation withdrew their appeal. I believe this was because CGA showed them plans for a long tunnel, reducing noise. However, both parties agreed to keep the tunnel plans secret, as CGA wanted to keep the record a secret.

2. The name of the ride is "Gold Stricker". So, what type of ride, besides a mine train, would work best with that name and theming package? A coaster with tunnels would be perfect.

That's sort of what I was thinking, that the coaster would have some sort of "dark ride" section, and that could be the record.

Yeah, I doubt there will be a dark ride section. The themeing will likely just be in the queue. GCI loves their tunnels though, especially in California.

Yeah, after I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure. I'm not complaining though, a new coaster is a new coaster.

Keeping with the gold mining theme, it would be cool if they do add the tunnels would be to theme them like rock formations and have sparkly gold nuggets shining inside them or something to the effect complete with waterfalls and such. Just a thought

When I said dark ride im using that term very loosely. What I should have said is themed tunnels, just like mentioned above. I wouldn't expect anything too elaborate either but you never know.

Remembering a while back, I think there was some proposed light package that this ride may have. Doing some digging, a fellow TPRer pointed this out...this was back in March:

I've been snooping around in the city's Architectural Committee meetings, and found some details for the coaster.

March 7 meeting (scroll down): http://santaclaraca.gov/Modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=7097

Representatives from GCI were there. Also, a CGA representative was showing off the plans (still looking for those), and also described a "proposed lighting design concept."

Of course, Prudential was there. It looks like CGA will be forced to add "sound dampening measures." Hello, sound wall.

Here's a March 28 meeting, further describing noise "issues:" http://santaclaraca.gov/Modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=7096

If there is a lighting package, I'm curious as to what it would be. We pretty much can guess at the 'sound dampening measures' (or theming).

So today while I was looking at some renderings for the coaster I noticed that the "Curly Fry" was on the plans and so are a lot more slabs. When I showed Angry_Gumball he pointed out on the permit site that it labels "Zones" so this has us guessing that the coaster will have a lot of "zone" otherwise known as slabs.

Pay close to the bottom where the Prudential , see that blue out line box? It sure looks like the "Curly Fry". This has me guessing the coaster will have a bunch of smaller slabs compared to one large one.

Here is a view the "Curly Fry" again.

^Looking at those plans vs. the actual site. It looks different, On the plans, the prudential turn has straight track coming out, but on the pictures of the slab (and the picture posted of the vertical construction) the track clearly does a S curve out of it. Also it hugs closer to SkyFlyer more. Maybe the plans are out of date a bit and the ride will be different to accommodate prudential with some of their complaints...

It does appear to be "reversed." I'm now curious as to how much different it will be from the original plans. The 'drumstick' on the original plans has more of a baseball infield shape. I can say that this is going to be a long month!

The plans were supposedly "revised" and the coaster is going to be taller than it originally was going to be. So its hard to say really what the coaster is going to look like in the final product. Im just thankful we are getting a new coaster!

Looking much closely at the blueprint versus the actual construction, the turnaround appears to be hugging the Xtreme SkyFlyer's twin spikes as Double0Kevin mentioned rather than being parallel to it and looks reversed from the original plans as you all mentioned, and is farther away from the edge of the park closest to the Prudential owned buildings. Can't wait to see what the final product will look like, Aug 29th is getting closer!

I'm cool with that. GCI's rides seem to constantly get better and better so a revision seems like it could only make the ride better. I'm seriously looking forward to this thing. CA needs more quality woodies.

It's funny seeing a new coaster, and a wood one at that, actually being built in this park. It's such a foreign thing but so cool at the same time.

When seeing that first image my friend sent me Tuesday, I had to stare at it for a good few minutes as it seemed very surreal...was a lot for my brain to process as this park has not seen a large-scale attraction come by in 12 years. This will be a huge help for the park, as much as it still has some more TLC ahead of itself. And this is going to be 1 long month as we patiently wait for that magic moment, the announcement.

Some funny things from Facebook:

Ugh the park already has one wooden coaster, why is there gona be another?? Verrrrry disappointed... Plus invertigo is gone.. need to bring back stealth...

What's wrong with another woodie? Especially with one that that will deliver thrills?

Its a new Woodie like da grizzly

It will be nothing like Grizzly.

The world DOES NOT need more frigid wooden coasters. we need THRILL rides like at Six Flags Magic Mountain. great america is loosing my love. same freggin rides and hella water park and kiddy stuff. Thrill us!

Frigid wood coasters...Mr Freeze woody anyone?

Don't knock it till you ride it, GCI rides are great!

Someone knows what they're saying...though doesn't count since it's a TPR member

Does anybody know an estimate of how tall it is going to be? Also is there any inversions since it has been revised and it is possible since Silver Dollar City woodie is also going to have a inversion.

On the permit page we all know by now, it's jumped around from 100 feet to 113, and now currently 111 feet. So yea, somewhere in there. I'm sure the 'revisions' are primarily due to the kind neighbors next door as the current plans were to have noise directed away from them. We'll see how it all comes along.

An interesting thing I noticed on this image:

Looks like we'll see a mix of slabs and footers as there's some footers lined up between the 2 slabs.
