thrillrideseeker
This trip report will have several parts. The first part will be Universal Studios, the second will be Islands Of Adventure, the third will be Old Town, and the Forth will be the Florida State Fair!! The first part of my trip report takes us to Universal Studios Orlando! We arrived at the park on Tuesday February 5th around 10:00am and the park was dead. The first ride we went to was "Mummy!" The park was so dead that the longest the line was 5 minutes and they were only running one station. After 6 rides on "Mummy" we headed over to "Disaster!" Personally I loved the ride. It was the same ride as "Earthquake" the only thing that really changed were the preshows. There were 3 preshows which were all very entertaining, the guest actually got to participate in the "Filming" rather than just sitting there watching the show! After 1 ride on "Disaster" we headed of to "Jaws" just to find out that it was going to be closed all day. Since we did not get to ride "Jaws" we headed over to "Men In Black." There was no wait. We walked right into the preshow! once the preshow was over and we walked to the loading station we waited about 5 minutes before boarding! We left "Men In Black" and headed over to "Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster." The line was about 3 minutes, and that is just because we missed the train that had just left the station. After riding "Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster" we headed back to the "Mummy" for 3 more rides. Then we headed off to Islands Of Adventures! (Islands Of Adventures Will be in Part 2) Now for the pictures!! ~Matthew ISLANDS!!! We will be there soon!! Wait... why is there a blimp above "Hulk?" I WANT TO SEE THE BLUE MAN GROUP! What an amazing skyline! WHAT? Its a Vekoma?!? What are those blue things on the side of the station? Those kicker wheels are so small. YAY! Row 8... I dont get it... What? Thats a long name! I like the trains! Its so small, but still fun! Next up is "Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster!" I LOVE THIS WATERSLIDE!! Where is the water? Hey! I like this picture! Atleast the bird can see whats going on with the "Simpsons" Its such a pretty picture without the globes in the way. What? Guidlines for "MIB" Hey... they looked just like the people operating the ride! OMG... I giant TV! Some break room. Why is there a giant play button on the wall? We are in the "elevator!" The Universe And You!?! Next up is "Men In Black!" "Fear Factor Live" one of the best Universal Studios Shows! Finally those awful "Universal 360 balls" are gone!! The "Men In Black" building looks great!! The "Simpsons" building is coming along great! The stage where all the "movie stars" are chosen! Oh... there it is! Where is "Disaster?" First up is Universal Studios! After 1-1/2 hours in the car we finally made it here!
astroworldfan1
Good PTR! I love Universal, but it's not as good as Disney? Do they still make you put everything in a locker before going on Men in Black? -Tatum
thrillrideseeker
Good Photo TR! I love Universal, but it's not as good as Disney? Do they still make you put everything in a locker before going on Men in Black? -Tatum Yes! Everything on every ride has to go in a box. Oh and I agree Disney is so much better! ~Matthew
KrazyT
GEEZ! You mean to tell me after ALL of those damn pictures you took that day, you only used like FIVE?! thrillrideseeker
As promised... Here is part 2!! Islands of Adventure!! We started off at Islands with a ride on "Hulk" I was expecting there to be really long lines. Nope. The longest line we waited in all day was for the trolley ride in "Seuss Landing." We decided to ride in the front on "Hulk" and we only had to wait about 10 minutes. After riding "Hulk" we headed over to "Dr. Dooms." We missed walking right on by about 5 seconds. We had to wait for the next ride which was about 5 minutes because they were only running one tower. After "Dr. Dooms" we headed over to "Spiderman" we walked through the 50 mile long line, grabbed our glasses, and walked right on!! After "Spiderman" we headed over to "Toon Lagoon" only to find out that "Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges" was closed for the day. So instead we headed over to "Ripsaw falls" we took the express line and walked right on! After a good soaking we decided we could not get any more wet so we headed over to "Jurassic Park!" We wanted the front row so we had to wait one whole boat!! "Jurassic Park" is my all time favorite giant flume ride just because of all the animatronics as you are going through the river!! After riding "Jurassic Park" we headed over to the "Flying Unicorn!" They were running two trains so there was no wait at all!! Once we rode "Flying Unicorn" we headed over to "Dueling Dragons" the only wait was for the front row and it was about a 45 minute wait so needless to say we decided to grab a ride in the middle! First up was "Fire Dragon," we rolled out of the station and around the small turn before the lift, and we stopped. We sat on the transfer track for like 15 minutes before we started moving!! Come to find out the ride was not broke, we were just waiting for the "Ice Dragon" to leave the station. After our ride on "Fire" we headed over to "Ice." Again there was no wait except for the front row. We grabbed a middle row again, and again we were not perfectly timed. We were in row 4 and we lined up with row 7 of the other train in the loops. After "Dueling Dragons" we headed over to "Seuss Landing!" We got in line for the Trolley and waited about 20 minutes! As we waited the line kept growing and growing behind us. We when left we walked back by the entrance to see the wait time and it said "55 minutes." After our ride on the Trolley we headed over to "Cat In The Hat" We only had to wait about 5 minutes which was a good thing!! Once we were on the ride I got told to put my iPhone away. What like we cant take pictures on that ride? After "Cat In The Hat" we left the park and headed out to "The Parking Garage That You Can See From Space..." We grabbed a bite to eat a McDonalds and then headed over to "Old Town" which will be in part 3!! Now for the photos!! ~Matthew Bye Universal Orlando!!! Now to find my car... It was a must do picture!! I like the sky!! Lighthouse?!? Its a couch? Ummm... Ok... YAY!!! Its "Cat In The Hat" time!! Bye-Bye Trolley thingy... What the he!! are those things? Those buildings look funny... This picture made the entire wait and ride worth it!! Hey its not number one for a change... Tickets? Wait... you need tickets for this ride? Man... and I dont have one I waited all this time for nothing... And now there is the line I was telling you about... Nifity transfer track! See... we get in line and the line was not that long at all... Track+Tent=Strange?? Such a pretty picture!! I think Elissa knows this place! And this is when we sat on the transfer track for 15 minutes. It seems like 2 trains are undergoing annual maintance! Does anyone else see a face? Ohhhhh its the pretty new castle! They so need to smooth that Cobra Roll! You have to love the Zero-G roll! If only there were trains in the loops! 5 minutes? Next up is the amazing "Dueling Dragons!" Was that train empty? This has to be one of the most smooth Vekoma's ever!! I sware at first I thought that woman was Elissa! OMG IT IS!!! Its the "Flying Unicorn!" IS IT? IS IT?? Bye "Jurassic Park!" 10 minutes? Please it was more like 2! Ummm... Why does Tony have a bag over his head?!?! ..."Welcome to Jurassic Park!"... Next up is "Ripsaw Falls!" (Sorry I do not have more pictures of it but I was not about to risk getting my iPhone wet for pictures!) Bye "Super Hero Island!" They so need to update those computers! Next up is "Spiderman!" We are so about to be up there! Number one again? Its the "Do Not Ride If You Ate A Baby" sign! Such a LONG line... Next up is "Dr. Dooms!" Hulk goes "RAWR!" I wonder if that was our train?!?! We were so just there!!! "ZOOM-ZOOM" YAY!! Row one!!! ROW ONE!!! ...Crash Into Building... ...Loop... ...Cobra Roll... We are going to be up there in a few minutes!! I had to! I just had to! freestylenut
What the he!! are those things? Shame on you...you never read Dr. Seuss' the Sneetches?!?! Great story, even for adults, it has a great moral that applies to real life that I won't spoil here. Great pics...Yes, late January & February are THEE times to come to Florida..the theme parks are just a liiiiitle emptier. Come late March its over like Rover! I just went this past Saturday for the Mardi Gras (mainly for the parade). Got there at about 11:00am from Tampa & the place was surprisingly empty...but as soon as 8pm rolled around the crowds were CRAZY! I was like "where the heck were these people earlier?" The Go-Gos were playing and the crowd from the stage to the street near the Monster's Cafe was literally overflowing...for the GO GOs!?!?!? I can only imagine the crowd for bigger acts like Heart & LL Cool J.
bobafett
Great pics and report! I have the exact same pic of Hulk from the Seuss trolley train ride. Isn't the Seuss trollet train ride a great ride ? It goes pretty fast too. Why does your bf have a bag on his head on Jurassic Park? Did he not want to get his hair wet or was he being silly? I like that photo, it made me smile. I really love Universal and Islands of Adventure. I can't wait to go back, only 5 more months to go(July 10th-14th)! Can't wait for part 3 of your report. The Seuss Trolley Train Ride is great! It was very relaxing!! Tony has a bag over his head because the beginning of Jurassic Park bored him so much he just wanted to kill himself but he didnt know how?!?! Acutally he did not want to get his hair wet and he wanted to be silly. I am glad you are looking forward to your trip!!! I am sure you will enjoy it!! Cyber.Fiber
Great Report so far! I cannot wait to be there this summer! Last time I was at Universal, Islands didn't even exsist yet. Oh and does that waterslide still have something to do with "An American Tale"? I have all of those movies and I have probly watched them over 100 times each! Glad you guys are Having/Had? fun! thrillrideseeker
Part 3!! Well sorry it has been so long since the last update. I have been busy so I have not had the time Anyways... on to the TR!! Part 3 takes us to "Old Town-Fun Spot!" I am still confused on the whole renaming thing so I will just call it "Old Town!" Upon arriving at Old Town we noticed a lot of changes had been made since the last time we had visited there! They had added a few new flat rides. Personally I think the addition has just made the place look ghetto. The only reason that we went was for the Skycoaster. Why did they have to make the Skycoaster look bad by putting a lot of old flat rides around it? Anyways... there is not much to tell... we went and bought our tickets for the skycoaster and headed down to it!! After our amazing flight we walked around and looked at all the new additions!! We wanted to ride the Slingshot but it was closed. The seats spent the entire day covered and half way up between the towers. Anyways... on with the photos!! Part 4 will be coming up later... the Florida State Fair, and then Part 5 Busch Gardens!! ~Matthew Its so pretty... Well that is all for now!! Part 4 will be here soon!! Poor ball Come down!! I want to ride... Little Shirt Covered Orange Thing= What they use to balance out the weight when only one person rides... Now this is more like it!! One of my most favorite rides!! OMG... Its so tall... *Rolls Eyes* A fan? Its fan powered? "2 Xtreme?" Yeah... ummmm no... more like "2 Ghetto!" "Super Shot?" Ummm no... it goes up slower than the Skycoaster... How is that "Super?" This ride was fun... but could be higher... Please... can I take it home with me and get it out of the ghetto? I got mist on me from that evil fountian when we rode... I want one!! Only I want mine to be 600ft!! I thought climbing SheiKra's lift was bad. I would die if I had to climb this... Back to the NOT Chetto Skycoaster!! Nice... A ride that makes Bob fly. Who the He!! is Bob? Im sorry Skycoaster... I really am... You deserve much better suroundings!! Ok...This acutally looks fun!! Check out those complex controls... *Rolls Eyes* Ugh... Poor Skycoaster. It has to look at this all day. Bye-Bye Recylced Screamin' Swing." ...Dirt... ...What holds the seat's to the top... ...The top... ... Seats... EWWW. That should be red...NOT black. See what I mean... it is recycled. A I R L A U N C H E D... I had no idea... Oh look... its the recycled "Screamin' Swing." She did not swing up very high either... Which is why I always ride with Tony Plus I would die if I had to do it alone!! WOW. Her free fall was only 100ft. ...YAY!! She is there... ...A little more to go... ...Almost there... The only other flyer than us the entire day. And sadly it was a lady that worked there... ...Tower... ...Arch... Arch... Its so pretty!! 80mph. I have never seen that. The fastest I have ever seen the radar gun say was "68." New Go-Karts...Thats a plus. *Cough* Ghetto *Cough* Lets fly down this track toward a concrete wall at 112mph. That sounds great!! Hey its the new car!! To bad they were closed. "G-Force Dragsters!" YAY. More ghettoness... Parts of the "Sky Wheel" they are putting in. Its "Fun Spot" or "Old Town!" Or whatever the place is!! They have the Skycoaster!! Thats all that matters!!
KrazyT
Yay! you got to post the Fun Spot pictures! I still think that last one looks fake but whatever. Im glad Fun Spot is getting new rides too but eww for the used Screamin' Swing, they could have at LEAST wiped down the seats. I hope they at least wipe them down before they open it. Anyway great TR sweetie (as always!). =] Tony.
bobafett
What type of ride was that you took a pic of that had seats like a bicycle? Your caption said it looked fun. What did it do? ETapley0687
Yea I was wondering about that bicycle looking ride too. Looks... interesting. Other wise great review, I want to visit Old Town.... Fun Spot.... whatever some day lol.

Just curious. Great report and pics, can't wait for the other updates. I've seen something like this, its like a leg powered pirate ship, you have to pedal to get the bicycle to go upside down. Old Town looks like a fun little park, I can remember watching the catapult from my hotel room balcony.
thrillrideseeker
Yea I was wondering about that bicycle looking ride too. Looks... interesting. Other wise great review, I want to visit Old Town.... Fun Spot.... whatever some day lol. Yup! Its a fun little ride. Basically you and the person you ride with pedal as hard as you can to get your seats to go all the way around! If you time it just right you can stop upside down. There is a motor though so if you are not strong enough to get your seats around you still get an ok ride!! As far as you going to old town. If you are not ready to spend $45 for the skycoaster and $25 for the slingshot dont bother going because they are the only to rides worth riding!! ~Matthew
haiderodes
^ I think there's still a little bit of fun to be had even if you don't go on the rides. When I was in the WDW College Program we went down there on Friday nights when they have the car show. Let me tell you the people that come to that are truly characters! Also the Skycoaster is next to, not part of, Old Town. All those attractions in that area are Fun Spot. The Slingshot and the other rides in front and in back of the "main street" are Old Town. Fun Spot even put up a sign saying that Old Town was to blame for adding that big ass wall that splits the two places.
thrillrideseeker
^ You are so right. The people who go there were very... Ummm... Intersting...and when I lived in Orlando I would always go down there and I loved it, but now it seems to have taken to the ghetto and that kind of ruined it for me. Anyways... So Old Town has the slingshot and fun spot has the skycoaster? ~Matthew
ETapley0687
I didn't know there was such a difference between Old Town and Fun Spot... Actually I thought they were the same place! lol
haiderodes
^^ Yup that is correct. Two seperate operators, close but not together.
